Chapter 1350: Oh~ How Scary
Chapter 1350: Oh~ How Scary
Luffy's death on the screen shocked many present, instantly diffusing the previously volatile atmosphere.
Kuzan gazed complexly at the screen, where Nico Robin wore an incredulous expression, then sighed faintly.
Monkey D. Luffy—the grandson of Garp, who had once been his superior.
Nico Robin—the young girl he'd let go years ago after her friend Saulo's death.
Both were connected to him. Kuro had deliberately sent him away, likely fearing he might hold back during the battle.
Now that Luffy was dead, Nico Robin would probably be next. It felt complicated.
Donquixote Doflamingo still wore his smirk, but Luffy's death had momentarily reminded him of witnessing Gol D. Roger's execution in Loguetown.
Yet there was a difference—Roger's death had ushered in the Great Pirate Era.
This time, Luffy's death—the man who had defeated him—would herald a different era.
Not merely a Navy-dominated age, but a deeper transformation. That man had personally triggered far more than surface changes. Like his epithet suggested, the truth lay hidden beneath swirling clouds. The coming era, concealed within the impending Navy age, would be something entirely new.
Even Donquixote Doflamingo instinctively felt fear.
He'd been reading the newspapers closely, especially those about Dressrosa, where he'd found many clues.
First, Dressrosa's old nobility had all vanished. The new king of Dressrosa now controlled territories where Donquixote had acquaintances. Yet whether great or minor nobles, none had spoken out—not a single trace appeared in the press. This defied logic. Even exiled nations would desperately seek media attention to assert their existence.
The nobles had all disappeared—only one possibility remained: David had killed them all.
Combined with his earlier words, it was acceptable to conclude the Revolutionary Army was involved. The nobility's disappearance, the world nobles' disappearance...
Donquixote Doflamingo didn't know their exact plans, but one thing was clear—the privileged elite would face hard times.
Yet wasn't this chaos exactly what he craved?
This would be the greatest upheaval to topple Mariejois!
A terrifying, chaotic era surpassing even Kaido's vision of strongmen dictating rules, where only the talented could rule!
So when David declared his intent to attack, he'd sold out Mariejois without hesitation.
Not betrayal—merely aligned goals.
"You?"
David frowned. "The Donquixote Family itself is a world noble, though you voluntarily 'descended,' you still cling to your noble bloodline. How can someone like you lead us into Mariejois?"
"Kshhhkshhkshh! I won't deny noble blood exists, but only victors make the rules."
Donquixote Doflamingo's malicious grin widened as he spread his arms, tongue lolling out excitedly:
"Eight hundred years ago, twenty kings won and set the world's rules. But now? You have the best chance. You win, you make the rules. You lose, I'm unaffected—I'm a pirate anyway."
He pointed at David, laughing: "Just leading you to Mariejois. Besides, I haven't visited in ages. You wouldn't fear bringing a mere released prisoner, would you?"
"Whatever."
David replied coldly: "Come if you wish. Our enemy isn't pirates now—we'll temporarily ignore your affairs unless you violate our principles. But don't expect us to follow your lead. You're only an observer."
"Kshhhkshhkshh! Arrogant as ever. Fine by me."
Donquixote Doflamingo descended from the air, unceremoniously plopping onto the deck.
The fleet sailed onward.
...
Bang!!
At the other end of the Grand Line, within the Calm Belt's Marine warship fleet, a screen on one vessel shattered as a shadow leapt high to strike it.
The Marines aboard stood rigid, their cheers over Luffy's death silenced.
The one who destroyed the screen—Garp.
Drip, drip.
As Garp landed, his back to the Marines, trails of moisture fell onto the deck. His muscular frame hunched slightly, fists trembling faintly.
"Garp."
On a nearby warship, Sengoku stood at the bow, expression complex.
After staring at Garp, he glanced at his own ship's large screen, sighing deeply.
On the display, Kuro raised Autumn Water toward Luffy's remaining crew. His bloodshot eyes and battle-worn body, far from disheveled, exuded an overbearing, invincible aura.
Unavoidably, this battle would elevate the Navy to new heights. All formidable enemies in the Grand Line had fallen beneath his blade.
"But that's Garp's grandson! This damned brat!"
Sengoku furiously blew his white beard, growling: "Couldn't he have held back? Even capturing him would've been better! How will Garp face this?"
Two grandsons, both executed as pirates by the Navy—no exceptions.
Sighing again, he muttered:
"If I could influence strategy, I wouldn't have been excluded from this war."
Their generation had been completely sidelined, instead sent here to clean up after the late Marshall D. Teach's Impel Down Uprising.
"The times are changing."
Sengoku shook his head toward the sky, voice heavy: "When this ends... will it truly end?"
His eyes darkened.
The war neared its end. To any clear-eyed observer, this would be the Navy's and World Government's total victory, their prestige reaching heights unseen in centuries.
But it also meant world nobles would grow bolder. Without caution, the world might descend into chaos.
Yet this was beyond his jurisdiction. The current Fleet Admiral was Kuro. Given his past actions at Saboady and his stance toward world nobles, perhaps he could manage things.
On another warship, a tall figure in sunglasses touched his chin, watching the screen, lips curling:
"Oh~ How scary."
