Chapter 135
Chapter 135
A blue portal opened, and Liam stepped into the Multiverse General Store, followed by a plump white robot. Curie was very curious about what other worlds looked like and wanted to see them with Liam, so he brought her along.
"Oh, this place is so small, and there aren't even any windows for fresh air. Do you live here?" Curie asked as soon as they entered the store.
"No, no, I live in my world. This is just a transit point. Turn around for a moment; I need to change clothes", Liam said, then took off his current clothes and put on the set he wore when entering the Multiverse General Store.
Using magic, he trimmed his hair back to its original length and began to review the spoils of his adventure. The most significant gain was the 68 Deviation Points he had accumulated, which made him feel quite wealthy.
Seeing that he now had 85 Deviation Points, Liam's first thought was to enhance his strength. Fortunately, after undergoing Nature's Baptism, he could once again withstand the injection of Spiritual Energy. He could now inject two years' worth of power, which would cost 25 and 30 Deviation Points, respectively.
"Time is money", Liam mused as he confirmed his choice. A beam of light shot down from the ceiling, enveloping him as he sat in the chair.
Liam felt a warm, golden light surround him, making him feel as if he were soaking in a hot spring, relaxed and warm. After a few minutes, the comforting sensation faded. Liam checked his body and was delighted to find that the energy circulation he had gained from Nature's Baptism not only remained but had been strengthened to match his current energy level.
Furthermore, after converting Spiritual Energy into magic power and casting a few spells, he discovered that his magic power reserves were now on par with the average level of a seventh-year graduate from Hogwarts. This meant he could use most spells normally.
Curie, standing beside him, also exclaimed, "Did you know? After the light beam ended, your physical data improved significantly and is now close to that of an average adult male. It's truly incredible. I think I made the right choice coming out with you."
After upgrading himself, Liam began to inventory his other gains. He had acquired a lot of useful items, such as the treatment needles that could heal even severe disabilities when used with Nutrient Serum, the powerful Radiation Remedy to eliminate radiation sickness, the Addiction Cure to break drug addictions, and the Power Boost Pill that could temporarily enhance strength by stimulating potential.
However, Liam noticed that elixirs like Jet and Mind, which affected the spirit, could severely impact his soul and disrupt his spellcasting abilities, so he did not take these drugs.
Naturally, Liam didn't just take drugs. He also obtained several sets of Bulletproof Cloth clothing and various weapons, which would provide significant assistance for his future adventures. Moreover, the manufacturing techniques for these items would give Dave in the Plants vs. Zombies world enough inspiration to aid in the world's recovery.
Most importantly, Liam gained invaluable combat experience during this adventure. From the initial panic when he saw the first Raider fall, to the tension of taking down his first enemy on the Museum rooftop, and finally to the point where he could kill enemies as calmly as his companions, these experiences left indelible memories and valuable lessons.
Liam didn't enjoy the feeling of killing, especially when it came to killing his own kind. However, the Wasteland was filled with too many human-shaped scum. When cleaning up the Commonwealth Wasteland, Raiders who were captured for mere robbery would be subjected to labor reform and eventually released.
However, some Raider hideouts contained things that were simply unbearable, such as tortured residents and human organs found in pots. For these individuals, Liam's order was clear: execute them all.
At the same time, Liam experienced the feeling of wielding power, the ability to decide life and death with a single word. This feeling could be intoxicating. But having lived two lives, he quickly snapped out of it and keenly realized that the weight of such power came with an equally heavy responsibility.
This led Liam to think of Professor Dumbledore. He could lead the entire school on the right path, unite all the forces that could be united, and lead the initially disorganized Order of the Phoenix to a stalemate against the Death Eaters, who were far superior in knowledge and resources. Even if there was some scheming, it was never for personal gain but to defeat evil, even at the cost of his own life. Despite his flaws, everything he did was worthy of the title of an excellent leader.
Voldemort, on the other hand, was the opposite. The Death Eaters, united solely by force, were individually more powerful than the members of the Order of the Phoenix. However, they were either reckless and insane (like Bellatrix) or lazy and uninvolved (like the Malfoys). They never demonstrated the advantages of a cohesive group. This situation was directly linked to Voldemort's lack of contribution to the group, relying only on the Killing Curse and the Cruciatus Curse to maintain a terrifying order.
Liam hadn't thought much about this before. But his month-long experience in the Wasteland, especially his time leading the Militia, made him mature in this aspect. These valuable experiences would prove useful in the days to come.
Finally, Liam's reputation in the Radiation World reached the required level, allowing him to open a portal to the Radiation World outside the store and communicate and trade with friends from the Radiation World in non-combat situations.
After summarizing his gains from his time in the Radiation World, Liam looked at Curie and asked, "Where do you plan to go now?"
"Hmm, I want to go to the world you mentioned where humans fight Zombies with Plants. The people there probably need my medical help more."
"Alright", Liam nodded, paying 5 Deviation Points to bring Curie to the Plants vs. Zombies World. After speaking with Dave, Dave expressed his welcome for a trained doctor to join them.
Curie was assigned to the hospital in the Fortress, which was equipped with anti-electromagnetic interference measures. As long as she stayed in the room, she wouldn't have to worry about the electromagnetic interference from the Zombies.
Liam instructed Curie not to leave the room, as even though she was designed to withstand strong radiation, there was still concern that Doctor Zomboss's electronic warfare might harm her. However, Curie wouldn't be bored in her room, as Dave installed a computer connected to the mainframe via fiber optics for her use.
Liam saw Dave quickly engaging Curie in discussions about various biological issues in the Laboratory. After a while, Dave told Liam that Curie was an excellent researcher and that they would welcome more people like her in the future. He also informed Liam that the items he had brought were very valuable, and the first batch of factories in the Fortress had already started operating.
After saying goodbye to Dave, Liam went to Curie's room. She expressed that she was very happy, as she could help many people and connect with like-minded companions.
Confirming that everyone was satisfied, Liam happily returned to the Multiverse General Store.
