Chapter 135: Who Sneaks Around Seriously?
Chapter 135: Who Sneaks Around Seriously?
So far, so good. Everything has gone smoothly.
After struggling through the rose bushes, Lyon emerged and gazed at the six-story, rose-red building in the distance. He nodded in satisfaction, having successfully infiltrated the Rose Estate.
Although Redwood Drive was in chaos with people searching for him, Lyon skillfully evaded them with the help of the Black Goat's Soul Vision. He merely took a slightly longer route and successfully avoided them.
The guards at the Rose Estate were no different. The Marsani family's security was decent, but Lyon had activated the "Full Map Overlay," and as soon as the patrolling guards left, he simply walked through the woods, climbed over two walls, and directly entered the heart of the estate.
Following the directions provided by Lisa, Lyon only needed to bypass the rose-red main building in the courtyard and enter the four-story annex on the eastern wing to successfully rescue the person... Hmm?
Lyon frowned slightly as he observed the numerous souls rapidly approaching in his Soul Vision. However, before he could react, the estate's alarm was triggered, and two blindingly bright xenon spotlights were turned on, sweeping chaotically towards the rose garden in the southwest corner like spotlights in a dance club.
This was broad daylight...
Lyon's expression darkened as he watched the two spotlights clearly aimed at him. If the Marsani family didn't have the custom of hosting parties during the day, then his infiltration had undoubtedly been discovered, and it seemed like his position had been thoroughly exposed. The pursuers had even pinpointed his approximate location.
"Over here!"
"Follow the lights!"
"Spread out! Maintain formation!"
"Don't let anyone escape!"
Lyon immediately considered his next move as he observed the rapidly approaching souls in his Soul Vision and heard the growing commotion.
If he retreated... his current location was in the heart of the Rose Estate, and the guards were all advancing towards the light's focal point. Turning back would mean running a considerable distance and directly into the thickest part of the encirclement.
However, the straight-line distance between him and his target was only 300-400 meters, and with his top speed, he estimated he could cover that distance in just over half a minute.
Therefore, Lyon decided to continue forward, choosing to rush through the main building, break through the wall, rescue the person, and then exit from the other side of the estate. This way, he could not only complete the mission but also avoid the swarming guards... No time to waste, charge!
After taking a second to assess the situation and deciding to proceed, Lyon sprinted out of the rose garden towards the main building. In just a few breaths, he reached the ground floor of the main building.
"Bang!"
Lyon shattered the window with the Holy Spirit Pendant and, with the boost from the Badge, nimbly climbed through the window into what appeared to be a kitchen. Ignoring the shocked gazes of several chefs, he burst through the kitchen door, ran through the corridor, and crashed into the foyer on the first floor.
"What's going on?"
"What's happening?"
"What are you doing... Ouch!"
Ignoring the startled people, Lyon maintained his high speed, kicking over a tall, dark purple-souled old man in the foyer. He then rushed into the opposite corridor, barged into a room that seemed to be a servant lounge, and, amidst the screams of several young maids, shattered the window and jumped out.
Lyon took only about ten seconds to dash through the main building. He continued towards the eastern wing's annex while tightly gripping the Holy Spirit Pendant.
"Boom!"
A deafening blast reverberated through the air, and the wall on the second floor of the eastern wing annex suddenly exploded. A woman inside, trying to pick the lock, let out a terrified scream before being carried out by a figure who smashed through the door.
"Ah!"
"Boom!"
"No!"
"Boom!"
"I'm going to die!"
"Boom!"
As the woman on Lyon's shoulder screamed, he consecutively broke through four walls, leaping from the other side of the annex and charging straight into the outer forest of the estate. With just another 700 to 800 meters to go, he would reach the outer fence of the Rose Estate.
"Perfect!"
Carrying the woman, Lyon ran a bit further, leaving all the pursuers behind. Looking at the estate fence, now within reach, a slight smile finally appeared on Lyon's face.
"It's all right. Even though there was a slight hiccup along the way, I managed to escape unscathed. Now, I just need to deliver this young lady from the Char Department Store back to her family, and my mission will be complete."
"Wait... Just a moment... Ugh..."
As Lyon took a deep breath and opened the iron gate in front of him, the woman on his shoulder finally regained her composure after the heart-pounding sprint.
Although she didn't know Lyon's identity or even get a good look at his face, since he had rescued her from the Rose Estate, he was definitely not one of the Marsani family. More likely, he was someone her father had sent to save her.
After catching her breath, she suppressed the nausea in her stomach and gently patted Lyon's back.
"Who... who are you?"
"..."
It was then that Lyon realized that due to the unexpected turn of events, his stealthy rescue had turned into a destructive one, and he hadn't even had a chance to explain himself. Turning back to look at the Rose Estate, he confirmed that no one would be able to catch up to them anytime soon. Lyon set the woman down, supporting her as she steadied herself. Then, he finally answered:
"I'm your father... Hmm?"
Before Lyon could finish his sentence, the woman in front of him suddenly disappeared, replaced by a terrifyingly wide-eyed middle-aged woman and several bewildered old men.
Meanwhile, those who had witnessed Lyon's wild sprint from upstairs and finally decided to call for the help of the Brown Robe Lady, were also stunned by his unconventional "opening line." Both sides fell into a brief silence as the situation unfolded beyond their expectations.
After a moment, the well-traveled Brown Robe Lady reacted first, smiling at the new Duke of Lionheart, whose future she foresaw as promising. She extended her goodwill by introducing herself.
"I am a bishop from the Scale Gold Sect's Wealth Branch. You can call me..."
"Bang!"
As Lyon was stroking the black goat's forehead, intending to assess the intentions of these people, he heard the words "Scale Gold Sect" and didn't hesitate for a second. He immediately activated the Holy Spirit Pendant, turning the woman's head into a pulpy mess.
The death was so sudden that even the soul of the Brown Robe Lady hadn't realized what had happened. It hovered in place, a large question mark floating in the dark purple soul.
It wasn't going to be that simple after all. It seemed like they had walked into an ambush! Although Lyon didn't know the exact situation, he had personally killed a member of the Scale Gold Sect, an enemy of the Holy Trinity. Without hesitation, Lyon turned his attention to the other "believers" of the Scale Gold Sect surrounding them, tightening his grip on the Holy Spirit Pendant.
