Chapter 135: Earth Wasteland Arc (Part 1)
[Kuangzong Jianying: Level 17]
[Mad Bu Jue, Level 16]

[Scenario generation confirmed…]
[Loading started, please wait.]
This system prompt, viewed from Feng Bu Jue's perspective, contained slight differences compared to when he acted as team leader himself.
This time, the voice he heard was the Common Tongue audio — a hoarse male voice declared, "Let your enemies tremble! Let them experience true horror!"
[Loading completed. You have entered Kill Game Mode.]
[This mode provides scenario overview and may include side quests/hidden tasks and special world views.]
[Scenario Victory Reward: 30% of current level experience points.]
[Scenario briefing will now play. Game starts immediately afterward.]
The opening CG began. Onscreen, a curvaceous long-haired beauty in a white lab coat walked down a dimly lit corridor.
"2000 AD. In the Crystal Lake Laboratory, a serial killer named Jason who cannot truly be killed was imprisoned. The government's scientific team planned to use him for experiments — researching necrotic tissue regeneration."
As the narration played, the female researcher entered a door. The camera didn't follow inside, freezing the scene in the corridor.
"But Jason is not easily contained. Any act of arrogance or carelessness will lead to irreversible consequences."
The CG skipped the original film's lengthy sequences. A few screams and sudden darkness were all it took to bypass Jason's loss of control and the researcher's failed freezing attempt.
"2455 AD. Humanity has entered the interstellar colonization era. This place has become 'Old Earth' — a land of sandstorms, toxic swamps, and polluted oceans."
"A human scientific expedition team returns to Earth for archaeological research. They discovered the corpses of Loren and Jason, bringing them aboard their transport ship…"
The CG ended here. Feng Bu Jue regained control. Immediately, system prompts echoed in his ears:
[Main Quest Triggered]
[Eliminate all members of the enemy team.]
"So it's this trash movie", Kuangzong Jianying stood beside Feng Bu Jue. They were inside the corridor from the opening CG. Strangely, the corridor lights were on — indicating the facility still had power.
"This doesn't feel right…" Feng Bu Jue frowned. "Why are we in a lab instead of a spaceship?"
Kuangzong Jianying shrugged. "Does it matter?"
"The tenth Friday the 13th film mostly took place on a spaceship. This place…" Feng Bu Jue suddenly coughed twice. "…simply isn't habitable for humans."
After breathing the air for a moment, Kuangzong Jianying also felt mild discomfort. Checking his game menu revealed no status abnormalities, but his vitality value had decreased by 1%. The environment must have an undifferentiated damage effect.
"They discovered Loren and Jason's corpses and brought them aboard their transport ship…" Feng Bu Jue mocked. "Now we're reenacting the movie's sequel in this abandoned basement lab centuries later?"
"In other words", Kuangzong Jianying continued, "this scenario borrows the film's setting but doesn't intersect with Jason or his cinematic characters. Isn't that perfect? No complex plot entanglements — just settle things within this closed environment."
"There are three things I hope you'll keep in mind", Feng Bu Jue raised his right hand, extending one finger. "First, according to the movie's setting, even this environment should be lethal to humans. The only reason we're alive is because we're 'players' or due to system arrangements." He extended a second finger. "Second, when I watched this trash film, I noticed beneath the absurd plot and poor direction, there were sci-fi elements — repair devices, androids, etc. In short, this is a high-tech world. If we contact its human civilization, send distress signals, and escape this lab, we could gain unprecedented advantages — far more rewarding than simply killing enemies."
"The enemy team will inevitably die here. Even with their Vitality Regenerators, they'll only last longer — not escape their fate. But we can spend this precious time acquiring items, equipment, skills, even enhancing attributes through their technology."
He extended a third finger. "Third and most importantly — I strongly suspect Jason isn't the only monster here." He unsheathed his steel knife. "In a lab this size, keeping a dozen Jason-level monsters would be normal. If I were the screenwriter, expanding the plot through these creatures makes perfect sense." He coughed again. "Though 455 years have passed, the system might add fun twists by releasing living monsters into this 2v2 match."
Kuangzong Jianying thought, I think you're the real monster here, then asked reverently, "Feng Bu Jue, you deduced all this just from watching a CG?"
"For now, yes. I'll update you if I think of more."
"Truly worthy of your title — Scenario Explorer. Respect!" Kuangzong Jianying said sincerely.
"Let's check the enemy team first", Feng Bu Jue suggested.
They accessed the game menu. The enemy duo's usernames clearly marked them as teammates — [Doom Strike], Level 19; [Final Strike], Level 19. The only other information displayed was "Surviving".
"Aggressive Strike…" Kuangzong Jianying frowned.
Feng Bu Jue caught the subtle reaction. "You know them?"
"Not personally, but I've seen similar Ids", Kuangzong Jianying explained. "They're likely from 'Shidao' Studio. Shidao players usually end their names with 'Strike' or 'King'."
"Oh? I remember their studio is currently fifth on the combat power leaderboard — higher than your Jianghu, right?"
"Hmph… That's what bothers me most", Kuangzong Jianying's voice carried reluctant frustration. "Actually, they aren't strong. But they've found ways to climb the ranks."
"Oh? You mean…" Feng Bu Jue caught his implication instantly.
"This might sound biased, but feel free to believe or not", Kuangzong Jianying said. "Most studios share a consensus — Shidao Studio cheats."
"Cheat? You mean the entire studio…"
"They use every trick imaginable", Kuangzong Jianying continued. "Self-developed illegal external auxiliary devices, plugins with cheat functions… Common players only hear rumors, but us Class Players who've fought them multiple times inevitably notice things."
"Why doesn't the game operator intervene?" Feng Bu Jue asked.
"It's complicated and not worth their effort", Kuangzong Jianying replied. "Operators just want profit. Unless cheating directly threatens their interests or causes public outrage, they won't act. Solving these issues requires massive resources — manpower, time, technology. Unless you present concrete evidence, they won't care."
"One time in a past game", he added, "the operator held a public vote to determine the strongest guild. Shidao secretly bought votes and defeated both Order and The Gods. But since the company profited regardless, would they ever intervene?"
"I see… Looks like you hold a serious grudge", Feng Bu Jue noted.
Kuangzong Jianying waved his hand with a bitter smile. "You wouldn't understand unless you worked in this industry. Sometimes, even when you feel superior, you still lose. That's the reality — disheartening and humiliating." He hesitated. "Sorry if this sounds bitter…"
"I believe you", Feng Bu Jue said. "I trust your Jianghu wouldn't collude with them either."
"Of course", Kuangzong Jianying replied proudly.
"My philosophy is simple", Feng Bu Jue concluded. "Either collude… or stand up and fight. So let's take this battle seriously and show these guys what real strength looks like."
