Chapter 134
Chapter 134
Feng Bu Jue had already met this weapon's equipment condition. Compared to the pipe wrench, both had "medium" attack power and carried attributes. However, the special effects of the pipe wrench worked better against humanoid creatures, while this steel cleaver held a massive advantage against mechanical monsters.
Feng Bu Jue believed the cleaver surpassed the pipe wrench in two aspects. First, it was a proper bladed weapon with a larger attack range. Second, while both were Equipment with attributes, the electric attribute not only countered machinery but also induced paralysis effects on biological targets.
Additionally, this weapon had no binding restrictions, and its price of 500 skill points wasn’t expensive. If replaced by stronger Equipment in the future, it could still fetch tens of thousands of game currency on the auction house. For this reason alone, buying it wouldn’t be a loss.
After acquiring this item, Feng Bu Jue’s satchel was full. Upgrading his current ten-slot novice satchel to a fifteen-slot standard satchel required one million game currency, which he couldn’t afford. Compounding this was his earlier shock at seeing the price of Tessaiga, Feng Bu Jue quickly purchased Robot Must Die and left Scare Box.
The battles on the Guild War Power Leaderboard and Guild Comprehensive Strength Leaderboard were intense, with dramatic shifts occurring beyond the top two positions. Meanwhile, the Player War Power Leaderboard and Level Ranking remained relatively stable. Notably, Fearless Hero, the first player to max level during the Closed Beta, had dropped out of the top ten in combat power and was no longer the highest-level player. Several unfamiliar names had quietly climbed into the top twenty of both rankings—these were the true core of the Order.
...
Feng Bu Jue replenished four clips of bullets at the mall and sold the knife he’d obtained in the Hunter’s Island scenario to free up a satchel slot. Then, he returned to Login Space to queue for a scenario.
His current level was 16, with the following status:
Title: Scenario Explorer | Experience: 3,236/16,000 | Skill Points: 2,080 | Game Currency: 214,800
Proficiency: Universal D | Mechanics E | Scouting E | Martial Arts D (Mask bonus) | Shooting D | Medicine F | Spirit Arts F | Summoning N/A
Satchel 9/10: Mario’s Pipe Wrench | Eye of Hostility | M1911A1 Pistol | Echo Armor | Vitality Value Supplement (Medium) ×4 | Flashlight | Folding Stool | *-500 (20/20) | Robot Must Die
Equipment: Jazzy Moves | Casey Jones Mask | Death Poker (Psionic Weapon)
Space 3/10: Puzzle Piece Card - Monkey | Puzzle Piece Card - Sunglasses | Puzzle Piece Card - Spin
Skills: Hasty Repair | Brat’s Low Kick | Spirit Sense Body Technique | Know Your Enemy
Feng Bu Jue had no immediate plans to tackle Nightmare Difficulty’s Singleplayer Survival Mode again. Scenarios like that drained mental energy and caused stress, so he’d only play one or two weekly at most—daily runs would burn anyone out.
As for Team Survival Mode, queuing with Xiao Tan and others was more efficient due to the guild member party experience bonus. Although Hell Front currently only offered a 3% extra experience per player with a full four-person party (unlisted in the final settlement), something was better than nothing.
Thus, Feng Bu Jue turned his attention to Kill Game Mode. The unfinished 1v1 match last time left him wanting more. After all, battling others was endlessly thrilling. While horror elements were greatly reduced in Kill Game Mode, player-versus-player combat still spiked adrenaline and provided intense excitement.
As he prepared to queue for another 1v1 match, someone sent him a communication request just as he glanced at the touchscreen.
"Ah... this guy again..." Feng Bu Jue muttered.
The sender’s player nickname was Kuangzong Jianying.
Feng Bu Jue accepted the call and immediately asked, "What’s up?"
"Hello, Feng Bu Jue. Are you free right now?" Kuangzong Jianying sounded cheerful.
"I’m standing in a Login Space of an online game. What do you think?" Feng Bu Jue replied.
"Haha... fair enough."
"You’re not asking me to queue for something, are you?" Feng Bu Jue asked with a strange tone.
"What’s wrong with that? Aren’t we friends?" Kuangzong Jianying countered.
"Let me guess... Kill Game Mode?"
"Exactly."
"No way. No no no." Feng Bu Jue repeated impatiently three times.
"Why not?" Kuangzong Jianying asked.
"’Cause I’d lose." Feng Bu Jue answered bluntly.
"Hehe... I’m inviting you to a 2v2 match."
"A 2v2?!" Feng Bu Jue was taken aback. "You’re from a major guild and a top player. I’d say 90% chance you’re a Classplayer. Don’t tell me you don’t have fixed teammates?"
"I wasn’t supposed to log in today. This is unexpected free time, so I just wanted to relax." Kuangzong Jianying explained. "Since everyone at the studio is in a scenario, I decided to find you."
"Your guild recruits plenty of common players, right? Can’t you find someone at your level to party with?" Feng Bu Jue asked.
"I checked—non-Classplayers online at this hour are rare. Only two or three with levels close to mine are free." Kuangzong Jianying said. "Before logging in, I browsed member profiles. Those Ids I remember are all combat power five trash." He laughed. "Partnering with you is definitely better."
"You’re pretty straightforward calling your own guildmates combat power five trash and saying it to an outsider", Feng Bu Jue remarked.
"Honesty’s honesty. Power’s power. If they can’t deliver, they can’t. I could give them face, but they might not hold up. Only when they grow strong enough can they change others’ opinions."
Kuangzong Jianying’s words held merit, but Feng Bu Jue preferred to be considerate. He chuckled and changed the subject. "So... adding a teammate with combat power slightly above five would greatly boost your 2v2 odds?"
"Feng Bu Jue, excessive modesty is just another form of pride", Kuangzong Jianying replied. "We both know your strength. Let me tell you, that Psionic Weapon you obtained last time was likely the first, maybe even the only one, in all of Terrifying Paradise."
"Hehe... Alright, since you’re so insistent and flattering, I’ll reluctantly join you for a match." Feng Bu Jue’s words were shameless—he’d wanted to play Kill Game Mode anyway. Now he was just clinging to a strong player. But Kuangzong Jianying belonged to the top echelon of martial arts players, a jianghu legend with unparalleled equipment, level, and combat skill.
Hearing his agreement, Kuangzong Jianying sent a party invitation and said, "Then I’ll queue us in."
