Chapter 133: Obito's Mission Settlement (4k)
Chapter 133: Obito's Mission Settlement (4k)
"Number two, Hinata Hiromori, and number four, Might Guy, get ready for the exam."
Might Guy's opponent for the second round was Hinata Hiromori, who had defeated him once during the first semester.
Mu Yue did not participate in the summer intensive training, citing the reason that he had to receive training from the elders of the Hinata clan at home.
Kakashi could understand Hinata Hiromori's decision. The Hinata clan's taijutsu was unique, and ordinary teachers might not be able to offer much to a student from that clan.
Even if he had been a chunin at that time, Kakashi thought that Hinata Hiromori probably still wouldn't have attended his training, believing that Mu Yue couldn't help him improve.
"Guy, watch out. I'm stronger now than I was last semester," Hinata Hiromori said, forming the tiger hand seal.
Having been defeated by Might Guy during the final exam, he felt resentful and spent the vacation seeking help from his uncle to refine his Gentle Fist style. Now, Hinata Hiromori was confident that he could defeat Might Guy.
"Who are you?" Might Guy scratched his head, feeling that the person giving him the cold shoulder seemed vaguely familiar.
"Oh, I remember now. You're that Hinata guy from last semester's final exam," Might Guy recalled.
Hinata Hiromori's forehead was creased in a frown, unsure if Might Guy was using a tactic to anger him or if he had genuinely forgotten.
Unable to contain himself any longer, Hinata Hiromori loudly corrected him, "It's Hinata Hiromori! Are you that forgetful? You must not be doing well in your theoretical studies."
"You've got me there. My theoretical grades aren't that great," Might Guy admitted, forming the tiger hand seal as well.
Hinata Hiromori was left speechless and took a deep breath to prepare for the battle.
In their previous encounter, Hinata Hiromori's strength had been slightly inferior to Might Guy's. Although he had seen through Might Guy's movements, his body hadn't been able to keep up and respond effectively.
This time was different. With his uncle's help, Hinata Hiromori had improved his speed and Gentle Fist technique. As long as he landed a hit, he was confident in his ability to inflict damage. He no longer had any weaknesses.
"Begin the battle!" the proctor announced, seeing that both contestants were ready.
Hinata Hiromori immediately activated his Byakugan, the veins on the sides of his eyes bulging as he used his Dojutsu to see through Might Guy's chakra and the tenketsu points in his body. He then quickly stepped forward, aiming for Might Guy's chakra points.
Might Guy easily sidestepped the attack and threw a punch. Hinata Hiromori, having anticipated Might Guy's move, tried to block the punch with his palm, but he was still knocked back by more than three meters.
"Such immense strength! Even stronger than before!" Hinata Hiromori exclaimed, his palms tingling as he grew serious. It seemed that Might Guy had also made significant progress.
"This level of strength doesn't warrant the use of the Eight Gates." After a probing attack, Might Guy made his assessment.
Hinata Hiromori's initial setback led many of the observing students to believe that he was on the brink of defeat.
"Guy is still formidable. Hinata Hiromori is no match for him," Genma Shiranui commented.
As number two, his first opponent had been Hinata Hiromori, so he was familiar with his capabilities.
After fighting him, Genma Shiranui felt that Hinata Hiromori was only moderately strong within Group A. While he could defeat the weaker members of the group, he stood no chance against a powerhouse like Might Guy.
"Yeah, he's probably the only fourth-grader who didn't attend the special training. Last semester, he seemed strong, but now he seems rather average," Ebizo added.
Most of the fourth-grade students had participated in the summer training, and even those who hadn't witnessed Might Guy's battles firsthand knew of his prowess from the test rankings.
Hinata Hiromori refrained from launching another hasty offense. Instead, he wanted to rely on his keen insight to seize an opportunity and exploit Might Guy's weaknesses.
However, as Hinata Hiromori attempted to slow down the pace, Might Guy had no intention of wasting time.
Suddenly, Hinata Hiromori sensed that Might Guy's speed had increased dramatically, and in the blink of an eye, he appeared right in front of him.
"Konoha Koppu!" Might Guy unleashed his chakra, using the Body Flicker Technique to appear in front of Hinata Hiromori and deliver a swift kick.
"So fast!" was all Hinata Hiromori could think before he was sent flying by the powerful kick.
Despite his desire to continue fighting, Hinata Hiromori could only manage to get up slowly after being knocked down. Might Guy showed him no mercy and instantly appeared in front of him again, landing a heavy punch.
Dazed and disoriented from the previous kick, Hinata Hiromori had no time to react and was knocked down once more. This time, he couldn't get up as quickly, and Might Guy immediately pressed his advantage, pinning him to the ground with a kunai.
"Might Guy wins!" the proctor announced.
"As expected, he lost without much resistance, just as Genma predicted," one of the onlookers remarked.
"Among the fourth-grade students, only Obito has a chance, I suppose," Ebizo speculated. "After all, he occasionally defeats Guy."
"Why don't we just ask someone from their class? They must have fought each other already," Genma suggested, scanning the crowd for familiar faces from the summer training.
Genma Shiranui spotted Rin Nohara, who was standing next to Obito. The two seemed to be engaged in conversation.
Genma Shiranui felt a bit awkward about approaching them directly to ask about the outcome of their match.
However, when Obito's battle began, Genma Shiranui's curiosity got the better of him, and he went over to ask, reluctantly accompanied by the uninterested Ebizo.
"There are only about a dozen people in the grade for the practical exam. We'll know soon enough when it's their turn," Ebizo pointed out, seeing no point in asking.
Ignoring Ebizo's remarks, Genma Shiranui walked up to Rin Nohara with Ebizo in tow and greeted her.
"By the way, who's the top student in your class this time?" Genma Shiranui asked curiously.
"It's Guy," Rin Nohara replied.
"So, Obito lost? It looks like Guy is still the best in practical combat this time," Genma Shiranui deduced.
The class practical exam had taken place the day before, and it was unlikely that Obito could turn the tables after losing then.
As time passed and the battles continued, the exam soon reached its climax, with only two finalists remaining: Uchiha Obito and Might Guy.
Both Obito and Might Guy had drawn favorable lots, avoiding each other until the very end.
"Students Might Guy and Uchiha Obito, get ready for the exam!" the proctor announced.
"Obito, good luck. Do your best!" Rin Nohara smiled encouragingly at Obito.
Obito returned her smile with a nod, his expression serious as he stepped onto the battlefield without saying much.
The previous day's loss had left Obito feeling resentful. He could sense that he wasn't any weaker than Might Guy, perhaps even stronger.
After analyzing his defeat, Obito realized that he had underestimated Might Guy, assuming that his lead in training progress guaranteed victory.
In reality, the gap between them wasn't as significant as he had thought.
"Guy, thank you for fighting seriously yesterday. But today will be different," Obito said, his eyes determined.
"Begin the battle!"
Whoosh!
As soon as the proctor finished speaking, Might Guy's body vanished from his spot.
"Konoha Senpuu!"
A passionate shout and a whirlwind kick came from Obito's side in an instant.
"Konoha Senpuu!"
Obito didn't dodge but countered with his own swift whirlwind kick.
Boom!
The collision of their legs sent a powerful force that stirred up a gust, blowing the sand on the ground.
"He's already using the breathing technique?" Sensing Obito's unusual strength, Might Guy realized that Obito had entered the state of Fire Breath.
With the force of their kicks, both of them retreated a little.
However, this distance was too short for them. Obito wrapped his legs in aura and gathered chakra in his palms, instantly appearing before Might Guy and throwing a swift punch.
Might Guy blocked the punch with his arm and felt the power coursing through it. A excited look appeared on his face; as expected of the secret technique that Obito couldn't finish practicing even after two months of hard work. With the boost from the breathing technique, Obito's taijutsu could now match his own.
"Now I can't hold back either!" Might Guy gathered chakra in his palm and threw a punch that sent Obito retreating. His breathing rhythm suddenly changed.
Large amounts of oxygen were inhaled into Might Guy's body, strengthening every cell. He could feel the power surging within him, and it seemed like he had an endless supply of energy.
After using the breathing technique, Might Guy's speed and strength surged, and even a simple punch or kick could stir up powerful gusts.
"How did they become so strong!" Hinata Hiromori exclaimed in shock.
He was astonished to discover that Might Guy, whom he had defeated with a kick and a punch, hadn't even used his full strength in their previous fight.
The speed and power displayed by Might Guy and Obito in this battle far surpassed what he had experienced when fighting them individually.
He even felt that Obito could defeat him with taijutsu alone, and Obito was supposed to be more proficient in ninjutsu!
"How could they have improved so much in less than three months..." Hinata Hiromori couldn't accept this turn of events.
He had even placed first in the previous semester, yet he now found himself lagging far behind Might Guy and Obito, despite seeking help from his uncle for training.
"Haven't you noticed? Everyone has gotten much stronger," Hinata Hiromori's friend said.
"Didn't the school organize a special summer training program led by Teacher Mu Yue during the vacation? It was extremely effective. Teacher Mu Yue is truly powerful."
Hinata Hiromori recalled the day's events and realized that the overall strength of their grade had indeed improved. In the first round, he faced Hiashi Hyuga, whom he had easily defeated before, but today, he had to exert quite a bit of effort.
"By the way, why didn't you join the training? I thought everyone went," his friend asked.
Hinata Hiromori didn't answer; instead, he wondered if he would have been better off making the same choice as his classmates.
He had bothered his uncle to make time to help him train, but not only had he failed to close the gap with Might Guy and Obito, but the distance between them had also widened even further.
On the battlefield, the fight between Might Guy and Obito had reached its climax, with both of them using breathing techniques and going all out.
"Katon: Housenka no Jutsu!"
With the boost from Fire Breath, Obito's nature transformation speed increased, and he spat out numerous small fireballs, forcing Might Guy to move continuously without rest.
After releasing the Fireball Technique, Obito paused for a moment, while Might Guy seized the opportunity to charge forward.
"Mighty Konoha Senpuu." Might Guy gathered a large amount of chakra in his leg, enveloping it in a chakra glow, and unleashed his most powerful kick.
If it had been before he learned Fire Breath, Obito would have tried to create distance using the Body Flicker Technique. But now, nature transformation speed was indeed crucial.
Obito extended his palm and first wrapped it in chakra before quickly gathering more chakra for nature transformation.
A massive fireball erupted from Obito's palm, and he swung his flaming hand at Might Guy's leg.
Obito could feel the immense pressure on his palm, but he believed that Might Guy was also struggling. His fire jutsu wasn't something to be trifled with.
Sensing the temperature of the flames, Might Guy's expression changed as he quickly altered his move, throwing a right punch at Obito.
Obito directly used the Body Flicker Technique to dodge, and Might Guy followed suit, but Obito noticed that Might Guy hesitated for a moment in his original spot.
Although it was brief, Obito picked up on it because he knew Might Guy too well.
"Katon: Goukakyuu no Jutsu!" Obito seized the opportunity to release another fire jutsu, a three-meter-high giant fireball, at Might Guy.
Taking advantage of Might Guy's momentary weakness, Obito relentlessly pressed on, combining his breathing technique with the Body Flicker Technique to force Might Guy into a constant retreat.
The flames spewing from Obito's palms and mouth made it difficult for Might Guy to defend, and the more injured he became, the more disadvantaged he was. Although Might Guy had a strong will to fight, his increasingly exhausted body couldn't keep up, and his breathing became erratic.
"And the winner is Uchiha Obito!" the proctor finally announced Obito's victory.
"How did Obito lose yesterday? He fought so brilliantly today," Hiashi Hyuga said, puzzled.
Throughout the fight, he observed that Obito rarely seemed to be at a disadvantage, and he appeared to be slightly stronger than Might Guy.
"Who knows? Maybe he didn't have enough information about Might Guy yesterday?" Ebizo replied uncertainly. However, information was indeed crucial in battle.
"They are both exceptional students," the proctor sighed. "Uchiha Obito has achieved an extremely high level in both taijutsu and ninjutsu, and although Might Guy didn't showcase his ninjutsu skills, his taijutsu has reached a level that a student shouldn't be capable of."
The teachers standing nearby nodded in agreement, acknowledging that the two students had pulled far ahead of their peers.
Although Might Guy lost, they felt that his strength was no longer something an ordinary student could match.
"Obito, you finally got first place," Rin Nohara smiled, happy for Obito's achievement.
Mu Yue, who had been quietly observing the battle, also wore a satisfied smile. Obito had finally avoided a crucial mistake and performed up to his potential, defeating Might Guy.
Obito's training mission was also immediately settled after his victory over Might Guy.
