Chapter 133: Audacity
Chapter 133: Audacity
"Zhu Ye is an outstanding student whom I personally mentored and cultivated. Her improvement is entirely due to her own hard work and talent. I am also a part of the Spirit Hall, Bishop Salazzar, so surely you don't suspect me of secretly nurturing a Corrupt Soul Master?" Wang Si exclaimed, his emotions running high.
Salazzar quickly tried to appease him, "I understand your anger, Dean Wang, but when it comes to unusual power enhancements, a rigorous investigation is necessary. After all, the methods of Corrupt Soul Masters are often unpredictable and dangerous. The Spirit Hall has a responsibility to maintain order and protect the safety of the other students."
Wang Si exhaled heavily and then fixed his gaze intently on Bishop Salazzar. "I understand your concerns, and I appreciate that you are thinking of the other students' safety." He took a deep breath, his acting skills in full force. "But I must adamantly tell you that Student Zhu Ye absolutely cannot be a Corrupt Soul Master!" Wang Si's voice was heavy, but it couldn't conceal the anger simmering within.
"At the same time, I believe I have the right to examine the evidence you claim to have. Accusing my student is tantamount to questioning my character and challenging the prestige of our Sky Soul Academy."
Salazzar was slightly taken aback by Wang Si's vehement rebuttal, but he quickly composed himself. "Dean Wang, I do not mean to question the reputation of Sky Soul Academy. I merely wish to ensure the smooth proceeding of the Young Soul Masters' Competition, and so I must be stringent in my checks. The methods of Corrupt Soul Masters can easily cause unintended..."
"Hmph, your so-called 'rigorous investigation' is just an excuse to delay our academy's participation in the competition and hinder her from displaying her true abilities!" Wang Si interrupted with a cold laugh, crossing his legs nonchalantly. "Bishop Salazzar, let me be frank. Even as a Platinum Bishop, you have no right to arbitrarily deprive my students of their rights!"
Salazzar's expression turned gloomy, his face a mask to hide his emotions, a skill befitting a Platinum Bishop. "Dean Wang, I can understand your anger at this moment, but you must know that for the sake of the smooth running of the Young Soul Masters' Competition, I must eliminate all potential risks. Although you have made significant contributions to the Spirit Hall in the past, I hope you will cooperate with me on this matter."
Wang Si snorted in response. "In other words, my status and position aren't enough to deter you, right? Since I don't have the ability to change your mind, perhaps someone else will..."
Before Wang Si could finish his sentence, the door to Sky Soul Academy's resting area opened, and Ning Rongrong appeared in the doorway.
"Hi, it's been a while, Dean Wang," she greeted with a playful smile, glancing at Wang Si before noticing the Platinum Bishop Salazzar standing beside him. Her eyes widened in realization.
"Looks like you're in some trouble, Dean Wang. Do you need my help?" Ning Rongrong blinked her large eyes innocently.
Salazzar's expression darkened at Ning Rongrong's arrival, seemingly concerned that she might foil his plans.
"It's just a minor issue, nothing for you to worry about, Rongrong," Wang Si waved dismissively.
Ning Rongrong replied with an "oh" and then, as if she didn't have a care in the world, surveyed their surroundings with a curious look. "Where's Xiao Wu? I saw her compete earlier, but I don't see her now."
At the mention of "Xiao Wu," Wang Si became a little uncomfortable. He glanced at one of the rooms and mumbled an incoherent response.
"Xiao Wu went out shopping with them. She probably won't be back until later."
Ning Rongrong blinked innocently and then sat down with a straight face.
Ever since Tang San had slunk away from Wang Si, Ning Rongrong had confirmed one thing: Tang Hao had definitely met Wang Si, and he had asked him to protect Xiao Wu.
If even Tang San couldn't take Xiao Wu away, Ning Rongrong knew that it would be unrealistic for her to do so alone.
However, rules are dead, but people are alive.
Now that Tianwu Academy was in trouble, Ning Rongrong didn't believe that Wang Si would continue to hold onto Xiao Wu just because of a promise he made to Haotian Douluo!
As Ning Rongrong remained silent, Platinum Bishop Salazzar coughed and continued on about the "investigation."
"Investigation? What investigation?"
Ning Rongrong feigned curiosity, and after Salazzar patiently explained, she finally put on a look of enlightenment.
Then, she didn't say anything and just sat there quietly, legs crossed, awaiting Wang Si's decision.
No doubt Wang Si had guessed her intention by now: she wanted to take Xiao Wu away.
Whether Wang Si could guess that Tianwu Academy's current predicament was partly his doing or not, Ning Rongrong didn't care.
Anyway, she didn't want to have anything more to do with him.
"Tsk, one after another, you're all trying to take my students away. Do you really think you can push me around?"
Wang Si stood up helplessly and walked towards one of the rooms, knocking on the door.
Ning Rongrong and Platinum Bishop Salazzar were both puzzled by Wang Si's actions.
"What is it?"
After a while, a deep male voice came from within the room in response to Wang Si's knock.
"Senior, I don't mean to disturb you, but I'm afraid I'll have to trouble you with what's about to happen."
Standing at the door, Wang Si bowed deeply towards the room and spoke respectfully.
An impatient voice sounded from within, followed by the sound of footsteps.
The door opened, and a middle-aged man with sharp eyes stepped out.
The moment he appeared, his sharp gaze landed on Salazzar, who was seated and dressed in his Platinum Bishop attire.
"Hmm?"
When Salazzar saw the man, his expression changed drastically: it was the Ninth Elder of the Wuhun Temple, Zixiao Douluo!
A titled Douluo from the Wuhun Temple!
As soon as Salazzar saw him, he quickly stood up and bowed to him.
Not because he was a Wuhun Temple elder, but because he was a titled Douluo.
No one dared to be impudent in the face of a titled Douluo.
"Now, tell me, what trouble have you run into that even a Platinum Bishop of the Wuhun Temple can't resolve?" Zixiao Douluo asked, his gaze toward Ning Rongrong gradually turning dangerous.
Clearly, he thought she was the source of the problem.
"Cough, Ninth Elder, this is a misunderstanding, just a misunderstanding!" Salazzar stammered, trying to downplay the situation.
"Misunderstanding? I don't think so. I believe you've encountered a problem that you truly can't handle on your own!" Zixiao Douluo said as he released a faint trace of his Titled Douluo's aura.
Just then, a figure quickly appeared—it was Gu Doulou and Ning Fengzhi, who had sensed the aura of a Titled Douluo.
Gu Doulou opened a spatial door and brought Ning Fengzhi to the scene, where they witnessed the tense atmosphere.
Ning Fengzhi coughed awkwardly...
