Chapter 1327: Unscrupulous Tactics
Chapter 1327: Unscrupulous Tactics
Unlike most Gryffindors, Albert never favored rash actions, even with his cheat-like system. He was self-aware and knew he wasn't Harry Potter, devoid of the protagonist's halo.
Ordinary people who dared to act impulsively, without the author's protection, would ultimately become cannon fodder instead of the rare success stories.
Moreover, deliberating before acting was more befitting of a wizard.
He had tried sharing this mindset with others, but most members of the Defense Association felt that plans often couldn't keep up with changes and were useless most of the time.
However, Albert was well aware that their perception of plans being useless stemmed from their so-called plans being jokes; naturally, they would serve no purpose.
Take this operation, for example. To plant a spy within the Death Eaters, Albert spent several days gathering intelligence, only then did this opportunity present itself.
No one would know who he was, no one would know what was happening at this moment, and no one would know what he was up to.
Everything that happened next would be as if it had never occurred.
Looking at the middle-aged man frozen in front of him, Albert, disguised with Polyjuice Potion as Mr. Edriss, spoke in a hoarse, calm tone, "Don't get agitated, Boursted. When you joined the Death Eaters, you should've anticipated this day."
"I was forced to," the middle-aged man defended anxiously.
"I wonder how heartbroken the mysterious person would be if they found out."
Albert, eyeing the back of the man's head, felt his mood lift as he confirmed that this guy was no good person.
Boursted's expression froze, clearly not expecting to hear such words.
To be honest, Albert quite liked villains because then he didn't have to hold back. After all, neither party was a good person, so they could just follow the villain's rules and see whose fist was harder.
Coincidentally, most of the time, Albert's fist was harder than those of the majority of thugs! "Hail the Dark Lord, and embrace this era."
Albert raised his wand and pointed it at the middle-aged man, whispering, "Soul-Sucking Curse."
Boursted's eyes momentarily became dazed, but they soon cleared up again, after which he fainted.
He had tried to resist the control of the curse, but his feeble resistance was easily crushed and overpowered by the spell.
"This is truly a terrifying thing," Albert muttered as he glanced at the old wand in his hand. The more he used it, the more he felt its power, and it was no wonder that Voldemort always came out worse against Dumbledore.
Speaking of which, the Peverell brothers were truly frightening to have created such an overpowered artifact.
It was like a bug in the system.
He was quite curious about how Dumbledore had defeated Grindelwald, who possessed the Elder Wand.
It definitely wasn't a straightforward victory.
Albert raised the Elder Wand again and altered Boursted's memories. He lifted a finger and snapped it in front of Boursted, confident that the man would now make a suitable puppet.
Boursted abruptly woke up from his slumber, looking around confusedly as if searching for something. He then returned home and began preparing an important report.
It was already half a month later when Albert received this piece of intelligence.
Those few parchments heavily depicted what the Death Eaters had been up to lately, the plots of Yaxley, and barely mentioned anything about Voldemort, except that he was abroad searching for someone.
Albert knew who Voldemort was looking for.
The wandmaker: Gregorovitch.
Speaking of which, it was he who had reminded Gregorovitch to hide, and he even knew where the elderly man was hiding.
If Gregorovitch were truly found by Voldemort, he would likely reveal that it was Albert's doing, and Voldemort would probably hate him even more! But could Voldemort really find Gregorovitch?
That was hard to say.
Albert would not allow it, nor would he let the information about the Elder Wand be leaked.
Because the fake wand that Dumbledore used to impersonate the Elder Wand was obtained from Gregorovitch.
Gregorovitch had once tried to replicate the Elder Wand, and having possessed it for a period, it wasn't strange that he could create a similar imitation.
If Gregorovitch were captured, wouldn't this matter be exposed?
Albert did not want too many people to know that the Elder Wand was in his possession.
Rather, he could only completely give up on the wand afterwards.
It was unknown if Gregorovitch had any intentions of finding an heir.
Albert was actually quite interested in wandmaking. Although he could make them himself, he was still considered a novice in the field.
Albert decided to pay Gregorovitch a visit sometime soon and inform him about Voldemort, hoping that he would stay hidden for the time being.
After making a note of this, Albert continued reading and successfully located the place where Ollivander was being held captive.
In fact, after Avery was identified as a traitor, some changes were made. Ollivander and some of the more valuable pure-blood wizards were not thrown into Azkaban to be tormented by the Death Eaters. Instead, they were given better treatment and imprisoned in Yaxley's old, half-ruined castle.
After Yaxley gained power, he specifically set up a secret prison and profited from it.
It was said that thanks to the Defense Association taking away the dark wizards' wands, Yaxley, who was in the business of wholesale wands, made a killing.
If Albert wanted to quietly take Ollivander away, sending Dobby the house-elf would undoubtedly be the best choice. But... Albert didn't want to put the house-elf in danger, so he ultimately decided to make that place a target for one of the Defense Association's group activities in the future. After all, he had to give them something to do to make them feel more connected to the association.
He made a note of this as well, intending to put it into action at a suitable time.
At the end of this piece of intelligence were some scattered messages about werewolves, vampires, giants, and other dark creatures. Voldemort was not only trying to lure more dark creatures to his side but was also continuing to expand his network of dark allies. However, the Death Eaters were not very receptive to the influx of foreign dark wizards into Britain.
"Perhaps, before long, Britain will become a hell for Muggles and a paradise for dark wizards," Albert murmured, "That's truly terrifying."
As Albert put away the parchment and prepared to get up and leave, he sat back down in the armchair and turned to the right side of the frame, where a figure appeared. "What's happened, Dumbledore?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.
"What have you told them?" Dumbledore asked, his brow furrowed deeply, his tone carrying an unmistakable reproach.
"The DA, led by Mr. Longbottom, is making a mess of Hogwarts," Albert replied.
"Oh, how surprising," Albert said with a raised eyebrow. "What have they done?"
"They hung the poor Professor Parkinson from the castle and left her there all night," Dumbledore sighed in exasperation. "Mr. Longbottom and his group have made a mess of the entire castle in the first month of the term. You, more than anyone, should know that this isn't a problem that can be solved by defeating two Death Eaters."
"I only asked Cedric to teach everyone how to protect themselves," Albert said, waving his wand and unfolding a piece of parchment in front of Dumbledore's portrait.
"This..."
Dumbledore stared at the parchment in Albert's hand, falling silent.
There were several circles drawn on the parchment, each containing the name of a curse. If students were to master those curses from the inside out, he couldn't even imagine what Hogwarts would turn into.
Would they even leave the roof intact?
"You could consider applying for the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts in the future. I'm sure everyone would welcome you," Dumbledore suddenly said.
"Never mind, even poor Professor Parkinson, despite becoming a Death Eater, was still unable to immune herself from the terrible effects of the curse," Albert refused decisively.
"Once he's dead, the curse should disappear," Dumbledore said, inquiring further. "What are your plans going forward? Do you intend to let Hogwarts continue in this state of chaos? That's not a good idea, you know..."
"When people have power, they will bravely stand up and resist!" Albert replied.
In truth, Albert knew why Hogwarts had turned into such a state. The last time Fred and Cedric visited Hogwarts, they successfully delivered their products to the students and even offered a generous 20% discount, along with a bunch of joke items to win over the poltergeists.
With the poltergeists leading the chaos, not even Filch could stop this terrifying trend because they were truly uncontrollable.
