Chapter 132: So Many Galleons, Aren't They Tempting?
Chapter 132: So Many Galleons, Aren't They Tempting?
Mrs. Weasley raged for more than half an hour, then pointed her Wand at the pile of joke magic items on the floor.
"I'm going to burn all these things right now. If I catch you being lazy and messing around with these useless items again, I'll kick you out!"
"No! Mom, you can't do that!" George cried out, collapsing onto the pile of joke items, determined to defend their hard work.
Fred's face turned red with anger, and he mustered the courage to retort.
"These aren't useless things. We'll sell them soon! Ivan said the Ministry of Magic will definitely buy them!"
"The Ministry of Magic? They'd have to be insane to buy your stuff!" Mrs. Weasley laughed in anger. Did they even look at what they had created?
An ugly round ball that, according to George and Fred, would spray a foul-smelling liquid when it hit someone.
In Mrs. Weasley's eyes, only other young wizards who enjoyed pranks would buy such things.
"Move away right now!" Mrs. Weasley, fuming, rolled up her sleeves and prepared to drag George away. Fred pleaded desperately, but she was unmoved.
Fred turned to the rest of the family for help.
Ron was hiding behind, watching the commotion, while Ginny wanted to help but closed her mouth when she saw Mrs. Weasley's furious expression.
Arthur Weasley, meanwhile, ignored the chaos and continued reading his newspaper, still angry about George and Fred's poor grades from the previous year.
At that moment, an owl suddenly flew in through an open window, carrying a package in its claws. Upon seeing George and Fred, it let out a series of happy chirps and flew toward them.
"It's Maca! Ivan must have replied!" Fred exclaimed excitedly.
Hearing Fred, everyone turned to look. George, who had been lying on the ground, jumped up immediately.
Seeing their excitement, Mrs. Weasley became even angrier and grabbed the owl just as it was about to land. She wanted to know what was going on.
Mrs. Weasley immediately untied the package from the owl's leg and, with impatience, shook it vigorously.
George was furious; those were their things. But the next second, he was nearly blinded by a flash of golden light.
A pile of round, glittering objects spilled out of the package, clinking as they hit the ground. Galleons were scattered everywhere.
"Goodness, the bag is full of Galleons!" Ron, eyes wide with excitement, exclaimed as he stared at the Galleons on the floor.
One of the Galleons rolled to Arthur Weasley's feet.
Arthur, no longer focused on his newspaper, dumbfoundedly squatted down to pick it up and examined it closely, confirming that the Galleons were real, not goblin coins.
Mrs. Weasley had never expected the bag to contain so much money. She stood there, mouth agape, unsure of what to do.
"These are all ours!" George and Fred, overjoyed, rushed forward to pick up the Galleons, even snatching the one from Arthur's hand. They counted together and found they had fifty Galleons.
"Where did all this money come from?" Mrs. Weasley furrowed her brow, feeling confused, panicked, and a bit afraid.
Fifty Galleons is no small amount!
"We told you, the Ministry of Magic is willing to purchase our products. This is just a deposit. We can earn a total of 200 Galleons. You can read the letter yourself!" George waved the envelope in his hand confidently.
Fred also nodded, feeling that Ivan's letter had come at just the right time. If it had been any later, all their hard work over the past few days would have gone up in smoke.
Mrs. Weasley glared at them fiercely, snatched the envelope, and began to read it.
Arthur couldn't sit still and leaned over to look at the envelope.
Ron and Ginny also wanted to see it, but Mrs. Weasley held it high, out of their reach.
George and Fred looked at them smugly, both feeling that their mother wouldn't stop their research anymore, given that it was an order from the Ministry of Magic!
After finishing the letter, Mrs. Weasley still seemed incredulous and looked at Arthur for confirmation.
Arthur pondered for a moment before speaking.
"It does seem to be true. The Department of Enforcement recently requested a batch of funds from the Ministry due to personnel losses. It was about five thousand Galleons, and I heard they bought a lot of magical items from a magic shop."
"That's Ivan's magic shop. We've been selling our stuff through him!" George said.
Fred was stunned by the five thousand Galleons Arthur mentioned.
They thought they had made a lot, but compared to Ivan, it was just a drop in the bucket.
Envy aside, Fred thought it made sense. After all, Ivan's family was officially selling magical items, unlike their amateur research.
Although Mrs. Weasley believed her husband after confirming the information, she still had trouble accepting it.
"I think you should focus on your studies, not on these strange things", Mrs. Weasley stammered, holding the envelope.
"Mom, this is an order from the Ministry of Magic! If we don't complete it, we'll be thrown into Azkaban!" George shouted.
"Nonsense!" Arthur smacked the newspaper on George's head. The Ministry of Magic isn't run by Dark Wizards; they wouldn't just lock people up randomly.
However, after scolding George, Arthur also tried to persuade his wife. While not completing the Ministry's order wouldn't land them in Azkaban, the hefty penalty would be too much for their family to pay.
Besides, with so many Galleons on the line, it's a good deal, isn't it?
After much persuasion, Mrs. Weasley reluctantly nodded, agreeing that George and Fred could spend some time during the summer to complete the order and even research some magical items.
But she strictly forbade them from using their study time at Hogwarts for experiments, especially if it would affect their grades.
"If you have any subject below E (Exceeds Expectations) at the end of the next school year, all these conditions are null and void!" Mrs. Weasley warned, her face dark.
