Chapter 1317: I Am the Savior
Chapter 1317: I Am the Savior
Perhaps this is what the adult world is like.
Ever since Harry directly told everyone that he needed to obtain Albus Dumbledore's portrait consent before satisfying their curiosity, everyone's reaction has been strange.
They seemed reluctant to let Dumbledore's portrait know about this matter.
After that incident, everyone seemed to have lost interest in pursuing the topic further, which Harry found a little amusing.
The former members of the Order of the Phoenix now resembled children afraid of being scolded by their teacher, even losing their penchant for eavesdropping as if nothing had ever happened.
"I never thought that this would be enough to quell their curiosity and easily solve our troubles." Ron couldn't help but marvel.
To be honest, both Ron and Hermione had been startled by Harry's decision earlier, but seeing how easily it resolved the issue, they couldn't help but admire his choice.
No one liked living under constant surveillance.
When they had returned to the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix recently, they had found it no different from a prison.
It was supposed to be a safe haven, not Azkaban, and yet they had to constantly watch their every word and action, suspecting even their fellow members. That feeling of constantly worrying about being overheard was terrible, and it made the trio feel uneasy all the time.
Now, the situation was much better, at least they didn't have to be on guard against each other anymore.
"This is probably what Albert meant by bullying the weak and fearing the strong!"
Harry took out the Golden Snitch from his pocket and fiddled with it, his tone resigned and tinged with self-mockery. "I didn't quite believe it before, but now..."
"Harry!"
Hermione looked up, surprised, clearly hearing the disappointment and dejection in Harry's voice.
The Order of the Phoenix's attempt to pressure Harry into revealing his secret had indeed disappointed him.
What saddened Harry the most was probably the fact that his godfather, Sirius Black, was among those people.
"Don't look at me like that. Those were Albert's exact words, but you have to admit that he makes a lot of sense."
Harry loosened his fingers, allowing the Golden Snitch to fly freely around the room.
"Dumbledore's influence is still strong so soon after his passing. I reckon it won't be as powerful in a few years."
Harry kept his eyes fixed on the Golden Snitch, oblivious to the strange looks from Hermione and Ron.
"Dumbledore is dead, and they are not the first to want to know the secret."
"Who was the first?" Ron asked, eyes wide.
"Professor McGonagall."
"You didn't tell her?"
"No, she was a bit angry." Harry shrugged. "I suggested she ask Albert, but I doubt he'll tell them."
Hermione suddenly understood why Harry had brought up the topic of bullying the weak and fearing the strong.
She trembled slightly, then asked tentatively, "What are your plans now? Are you going to continue practicing the Blasting Curse?"
"We must first determine...who has that thing."
Harry picked up his wand from the table and cast protective spells around the room to ensure no one was eavesdropping on their conversation.
Even though Harry had "successfully" convinced the others to temporarily set aside their curiosity, he remained vigilant.
It wasn't that he didn't trust the members of the Order of the Phoenix, but he wasn't foolish enough to let his guard down just because he had persuaded them.
Seeing Harry's actions, Hermione and Ron felt ashamed. They had indeed overlooked this matter.
"Although Albert believes that Hufflepuff's Cup may have been placed in the Lestrange family vault, that crazy woman has gone missing ever since she followed Draco Malfoy into Hogwarts to kill Dumbledore."
After sealing the windows and doors with jamming jinxes, Harry put down his wand and grabbed the Golden Snitch that was floating in front of him.
"If we can't disguise ourselves as Bellatrix using Polyjuice Potion, we'll have to find another way to get into Gringotts. And it won't be easy for the three of us to break into the Lestrange family vault directly. We're more likely to get lost and trapped underground."
"It's more than just difficult," Ron said. "Remember, we only have one shot at this, and we must succeed quickly. I think it's necessary to confirm that the Cup or the Diadem is not in Yaxley's vault before we break into Gringotts."
In Hermione's opinion, invading Gringotts to steal something was extremely crazy, and she doubted that the trio could make any significant progress without Albert's help.
In fact, they didn't even know the number of the Lestrange family vault, and they would need the help of a goblin to find out.
"Don't worry, Hermione, we have at least a year or more to plan our break-in at Gringotts." Ron seemed to sense Hermione's anxiety and tried to reassure her. "Remember, Quirinus managed to break into Gringotts and steal the Philosopher's Stone before."
"That was Voldemort, Quirinus didn't have that kind of ability." Harry corrected him.
"Harry, I think you need to learn the Imperius Curse." Ron said suddenly.
"That's an Unforgivable Curse."
Hermione frowned, well aware of the horrors of such curses, and she despised anyone who used Dark Magic.
"I know, but you can't deny its usefulness." Ron ignored Hermione's gaze and continued, "Maybe we'll need to use it to control a goblin. You know, we need their help, but from what Bill told me, goblins aren't the easiest creatures to deal with. Even if you try to trade the Sword of Gryffindor for their assistance, they might still betray us shamefully because, in their eyes, the Sword of Gryffindor belongs to the goblins, and wizards are just shameful thieves."
"Let's deal with the goblins one thing at a time. With the Sword of Gryffindor, I believe we can temporarily persuade them to cooperate with us." Harry nodded at Hermione, who was taking out her notebook to make a record, and continued, "The key is to find out where the Cup is. Although I think Albert's prediction should be accurate, it's still necessary to do a round of checks before we take action."
"Then I'll take turns with Hermione to accompany you, and we can try to practice breaking free from the Imperius Curse at the same time." Ron added, "Fred and the others have practiced breaking free from the Imperius Curse more than once."
"Alright, it looks like my task of practicing curses just got heavier." Harry sighed, "But it's better not to let others know, lest they make a fuss about it."
"Can we talk about Yaxley now?" Hermione knew she probably couldn't stop them and tried to change the subject.
"It won't be easy to capture Corban Yaxley, he's now the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement." Ron offered his suggestion, "I still think we should seek Albert's help directly. That guy is more cautious than us, and he must have a way to find out where the Hufflepuff Cup is hidden."
"We can't rely solely on Albert." Harry shook his head. "Otherwise, Dumbledore would have entrusted the task of finding the Horcruxes to him instead of me. I think he had his reasons for doing it this way."
Harry had no qualms about seeking Albert's help, but he wouldn't shirk his own responsibilities.
The last time in the Headmaster's office, when Phineas mentioned that Snape had placed a fake Gryffindor Sword in Yaxley's vault, Harry felt he shouldn't neglect Yaxley, especially since the mysterious man also trusted him greatly.
"It won't be easy to capture Yaxley without making a sound." Hermione spread out a newspaper about Yaxley on the table. "The Yaxley family is an ancient one, and ancient family mansions usually have ancient magical protections. It will be difficult for us to ambush him without alerting him, and we don't even know where the Yaxley mansion is."
"Can't we intercept him on his way to the Ministry?" Ron suggested briefly. "I heard from Dad that they used to have to apparate near the Ministry and then use a special entrance to get there. If that guy Yaxley doesn't have the privilege of using his office fireplace, he'll probably have to take the same route. We can use Harry's Invisibility Cloak to ambush him, force some Veritaserum down his throat, and interrogate him. If the Hufflepuff Cup really is in his vault, we can also take some of his hair and use Polyjuice Potion to disguise ourselves as him to get into the vault."
"No, we don't need Polyjuice Potion." Harry suddenly spoke up. "We can just use the Imperius Curse to control Yaxley and then have him pretend to put some treasure into his vault. That way, we can easily follow him to the Yaxley family vault."
"Some treasure?" Ron mumbled. "We don't have anything like that, unless you're willing to bring out the Gryffindor Sword."
"How about the Ravenclaw Diadem?"
Harry placed a photo on the table. "We can ask Albert to make a new one. I'm sure with his skills, he can create a pretty decent fake."
"This presupposes that our plan goes smoothly and that the Hufflepuff Cup is indeed in the Yaxley family vault. This will require some luck and probability, and I think there's a high chance that Death Eaters are abusing their power, like connecting their homes to the fireplaces in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement."
Hermione took a sip of her potion to enhance her intelligence and started pointing out the loopholes in Ron's plan, recording it all with her quill.
"Maybe we should also find someone from the Floo Network Authority to ask about the specifics and then use the Obliviate spell to erase that part of their memory. It'll be good practice."
"Hermione, the more complex the plan, the more likely there are to be loopholes." Harry didn't think this was a good idea.
Ron waved Hermione's bookmark. "So, we should ask Albert for help. I think it won't be difficult for him to help us deal with Yaxley."
"Never mind, we don't need to rush things. Let's take it one step at a time and master the Blasting Curse first." Harry really didn't want to trouble Albert with this, and he suspected that the other party might not agree to help anyway.
"If not, let's just find the Yaxley mansion and burn it down. That will definitely force that guy out." Ron offered a bad idea. Ever since Charlie's death, the Weasley family had become very hostile towards Death Eaters.
"Ron, that's not funny at all!"
"With all the horrible things Yaxley has done, he deserves to die a hundred times over." Ron retorted angrily. "Don't forget about those Muggle-born wizards who were thrown into Azkaban and died there."
"In the next few days, I plan to go and see the shelter. I heard that apart from the expelled students, there's another shelter." Harry cleared his throat slightly, trying to divert the attention of the other two to prevent any unpleasant conflicts.
"I thought you'd regret going there after the last time." Ron was a little surprised by Harry's decision.
"I have to go anyway. How else am I going to convince everyone to stand with us?" Harry noticed the astonished looks on Hermione and Ron's faces and explained, "You don't need to look at me like that. Since I have to fight the mysterious man, I naturally need to be well-prepared. Albert once said that it would be a big battle, so he suggested that I choose Hogwarts as the location. At that time, the dark wizards and dark creatures who will be lured by the mysterious man will definitely show up. How can a handful of people from the Phoenix Association and the Defense Association hope to stop the mysterious man and his followers?"
"Harry, you've never mentioned this to us before." Hermione frowned.
"I remember mentioning it."
"Will there really be a big battle?"
"That's not the point, Ron." Hermione took a deep breath and asked, "So, you plan to have the members of the Phoenix Association teach the refugees some dark magic defense spells?"
"They're not refugees." Harry corrected her. "They're just a group of people who have been oppressed by dark wizards. I believe that as long as someone is willing to take the lead, they will be willing to stand up and resist."
"But I heard that the situation over there is pretty bad." Hermione suddenly said.
"That doesn't sound like something you would usually say." Ron stared at Hermione, surprised.
"I'll ask Sirius and Lupin to come with me." Harry said self-deprecatingly, "Many people think that I should take the lead and lead everyone to resist the mysterious man. Now that I've stepped up, I hope that this 'savior' title will be of some use!"
Harry was well aware that he had to do something. Though he didn't consider himself a competent leader, he knew that his 'savior' title still held value.
"Harry, you're becoming more and more like our leader." Ron reached out and gently pounded Harry's shoulder.
"No, I'm not. I'm just a mascot. Albert is everyone's leader, even if we're unwilling to admit it. But we do need his wisdom and his prophecies, just like we needed Dumbledore back then." Harry's head wasn't muddled; he was clear about what he needed to do. "It's best to get in touch with Albert first and see if he has any good suggestions before we take action."
"I'll leave that to you, Hermione." Harry said to the girl beside him. "If possible, ask him if there are any tips for practicing the Blasting Curse."
"Okay, but I still think you shouldn't have too high expectations."
Hermione was well aware that it wouldn't be easy to get others to stand up and resist the mysterious man, otherwise, there would be no need for Harry; Albert would have done it himself.
