Chapter 1313: We Own the World
Chapter 1313: We Own the World
The Crimson Spider Clan's decision to expand its ranks quickly spread across the New World. Pirates who had already pledged allegiance to their cause were deeply moved, one by one declaring their intent to join this historic movement.
On a remote island in the New World, a crowd gathered, listening intently as a pirate relayed orders from those who governed their island.
"My men", the pirate atop the platform declared, "the higher-ups have decided to expand our ranks! For the sake of your Justicecause, anyone who shares our ideal is welcome to join this righteous struggle! Don't hesitate—enlist now!"
As he spoke in this cryptic language that ordinary folk barely understood, the pirate gestured to a tattoo artist inking a crimson spider onto his arm—a standard Crimson Spider Clan tattoo, though notably lacking an identification number.
Unlike traditional pirates who pillaged and plundered, some islands under pirate control in the New World actually saw improvements. The locals enjoyed unexpected benefits under this new order. Formerly ruled by ruthless pirates, these people now found themselves governed by pirates who neither exploited nor robbed them, but instead acted more like administrators. Naturally, this drew large crowds to listen.
"Expand the ranks? Could you explain what that actually means?" someone in the audience shouted, clearly confused by the vague announcement.
"Ah, it means expansion!" the pirate replied, equally clueless. "I don't fully understand either, but I believe in this ideal and I'm willing to fight for it!"
The speaker was Golada, a pirate with a New World bounty of 120 million. Though technically a pirate, he was essentially a good man—driven to piracy only after life left him no other choice. After reading Wilbur's Justicefaith, he'd been deeply moved and joined their cause, eventually becoming this island's ruler.
Golada scratched his head, then clarified, "In short, once you get this tattoo, you're free to rebel! We'll overthrow the nobles and pirates who've oppressed you, toppling them to let the common people live as freely as we do!"
"That does sound pretty good..."
"Hey, I might actually join. I fled here after pirates destroyed my hometown. If possible, I'd like to return and contribute something."
The crowd whispered amongst themselves, clearly intrigued.
"Ahem." A middle-aged man raised his hand. "Officer Golada, do you mean that getting this tattoo grants us the freedom to target any nations we dislike and overthrow them?"
"Doctor Gascoigne!" Golada acknowledged.
The crowd turned in surprise. "Doctor? You're joining too?"
Golada shook his head. "Not quite. We can't just attack anyone. If a nation is already thriving, we have no right to destroy it."
"I understand. In that case, I'll join", Gascoigne nodded.
Golada grinned. "Doctor, with you onboard, we'll save countless lives!"
"No", Gascoigne replied calmly. "I'll take up arms this time. Medicine alone cannot save this Grand Line."
Gascoigne, 38 years old, was indeed a doctor—though not always. He'd served in the North Blue Navy, resigning after growing disgusted by his superiors' cowardice and greed. Later, he became a Bounty Hunter, only to face betrayal when comrades shot him for the bounty. Disillusioned again, he turned pirate, lured by dreams of freedom, only to find piracy equally disappointing. Now, he'd settled into a quiet life as a doctor on this island, content to heal without interference.
That is, until Golada and his pirates arrived. Initially fearing the worst, Gascoigne was surprised to find these pirates different—they rebuilt rather than destroyed, treating the people kindly. After reading Justicefaith, he'd felt a spark of inspiration, though years of island life had dulled his passion.
But today's announcement changed everything. The tattoo wasn't just rebellion—it was a righteous cause. Golada had vowed to target only oppressed nations, opening a new era for the New World. Gascoigne didn't seek power or fame, nor did he crave the title of Pirate King. His justice was simple: act when he saw injustice. Now, an ordinary man's justice could finally take action.
"We come from distant nations, each carrying Justice in our hearts.
We hail from different races, yet share the same Goal.
We haven't lost our nations, for we own the world.
Today's battleground is Dressrosa.
Tomorrow's mission leads to Arabasta.
We come from everywhere, advancing for Justice,
Spider warriors must unite our limbs to become a complete spider.
The greatest glory is ending exploitation,
The noblest cause is Justicefaith.
Drive feudal capitalism into the grave!
Cast world nobles into the Grand Line!
Drive feudal capitalism into the grave!
Cast world nobles into the Grand Line!!"
Across the Grand Line, crimson spider-tattooed warriors emerged from unknown corners. Armed and singing adaptations of revolutionary songs, they stormed feudal capitalist nations—sometimes alongside Revolutionary Army forces, sometimes organizing independently—to overthrow tyrannical regimes.
...
Headquarters.
Kuro had no idea what mischief Kas was stirring, only noticing that after escorting someone back, Kas seemed unusually excited. The way Kas looked at him lately—intense, almost eager to draw his blade at any moment—made Kuro uneasy.
But he had no time to investigate.
Kuro had summoned Kas, Wilbur, Lida, and Klah to the New Marine Headquarters for a meeting, leaving Ai En behind to guard the base. He was preparing to clear the entire area between the New Marine Headquarters and Mariejois, ordering all civilians to evacuate.
For the final battle was coming.
