Chapter 13: Minato Namikaze, the Man Who'd Explode if You Looked at Him Twice
Chapter 13: Minato Namikaze, the Man Who'd Explode if You Looked at Him Twice
"Yoru, you've done an excellent job on your mission. Danzo-sama asked me to give these to you." Heishuisse passed two scrolls to Muye.
Muye took the scrolls and nodded calmly without saying a word. Ninjas from Root usually didn't need to exchange many words.
Heishuisse didn't linger either. After handing over the scrolls, he quickly disappeared, wanting to avoid any exposure of Muye's identity.
Once Muye sensed Heishuisse's presence fading away, she returned to her room and unfurled the two scrolls.
One scroll contained a fire-style jutsu, the Great Dragon Fire Technique.
The other scroll held Danzo's acknowledgment of Muye's work and his latest instructions.
Danzo first commended Muye for her initiative and quick integration into the Ninja Academy, rewarding her with a powerful fire-style jutsu. He encouraged her to continue on this path, closely monitoring her class and paying attention to both Kakashi Hatake and the other Uchiha students.
Lastly, Danzo dangled a carrot in front of Muye, promising to help promote her to a special jonin and a significant position at the Ninja Academy if she maintained her outstanding performance.
After reading the scrolls, Muye ignited a flame in her hand, burning both scrolls to ashes.
"Special jonin... a significant position... heh heh," Muye chuckled.
Perhaps the original body's owner would have been motivated by Danzo's praise and promises, but not Muye.
The rewarded fire jutsu was the Great Dragon Fire Technique, which she had already learned, and she had no desire to become a special jonin.
Thus, Muye remained unfazed, feeling only amusement.
As Muye prepared to cultivate with her main body while her clone read books, she suddenly realized that she had finished reading all the ninja books in her house.
After a moment's thought, she decided to visit Konoha's library to borrow some books.
Konoha had a grand library that housed a vast collection of books and resources, including ninja techniques. It had been established during the Second Hokage's reign.
Of course, the library only contained basic D- and C-rank ninja techniques. One wouldn't find any forbidden or advanced jutsu there, and borrowing ninja techniques was quite expensive.
However, that didn't concern Muye, as she wasn't interested in borrowing jutsu. Instead, she sought information related to ninja and sealing techniques, specifically those concerning restrictive curse seals.
Learning jutsu through lecturing was faster than practicing alone, and she wanted to try researching if she could undo the cursed seal of the Tongue Disaster Root on her body.
Although this curse seal wasn't as repulsive as the Caged Bird seal, having someone else's curse seal on her body still made her feel uncomfortable.
Walking through the streets of Konoha, Muye felt a sense of dissociation as she watched the bustling crowd.
It had been over half a month since she traveled to the world of Naruto, and this was the first time Muye had ventured out as her original body; she usually sent her shadow clone even for simple errands like buying groceries.
Her unique identity and the dangers of this world constantly made her feel insecure.
After over half a month of exploiting loopholes, Muye had learned a few more jutsu and accumulated more chakra, giving her a slight boost in confidence. She no longer felt that she would perish from some unknown AOE attack.
Upon reaching the library, Muye presented her small ninja notebook to the librarian ninja on duty, who glanced at her basic information—name, ninja rank, and so on—and nodded in acknowledgment.
This library was exclusively open to ninjas.
As Muye prepared to search for the information she needed, a familiar figure approached her. It was a man with golden hair and a gentle smile on his face.
Chakra: 40,000
Potential: S
Evaluation: Kills jounin with ease, and would explode if you looked at him twice
Mu Yue's expression remained unchanged, but she was astonished inwardly.
This was the first time she had seen chakra levels in the tens of thousands, and Minato's whopping 40,000 was equivalent to eighty six-year-old Itachi.
His evaluation was equally impressive, making it seem like killing jounin was a casual affair.
At this point, Minato hadn't yet earned the moniker of 'Yellow Flash'. In the public eye, he was merely a capable jounin, while his master, Jiraiya, one of the legendary Sannin, was more renowned and a favorite for the next Hokage.
However, Mu Yue thought about it and felt that Minato's evaluation wasn't too far off. With his mastery over the Flying Thunder God technique, defeating a standard jounin wouldn't be difficult for him.
Such speed-focused ninjas were absolute monsters when it came to crushing weaker opponents.
"It would be great if Minato already had a son in the Ninja Academy," Mu Yue thought wistfully. That would give her an opportunity to get close to him.
In truth, she wanted to befriend Minato because of his proficiency in sealing techniques, which she hoped to learn from him.
After all, curse seals were essentially a type of sealing technique and a specialized branch of the art.
Having a master seal master like Minato as an advisor would make breaking the Tongue Disaster Root seal on her body much easier.
As for Kushina, her identity as a jinchuuriki was too sensitive, and Mu Yue didn't want to court trouble.
Taking two books related to sealing techniques and three others of little importance, Mu Yue completed the registration and payment process before leaving the library.
...
In the Southern Mirror Forest of Konoha, Mu Yue was leading her disciples in a training session before their upcoming exam.
"You two haven't forgotten your words from before, right? You must pass tomorrow's theory exam," Mu Yue reminded Obito and Might Guy.
"Of course! If I fail, I'll accept any punishment you give, Teacher Mu Yue," Obito said confidently.
Although they had mostly trained in ninjutsu, with only occasional lectures and written tests, they had just taken a practice exam from a previous year, and Obito had scored thirty points.
According to his past experiences, this score was already several points above the passing mark.
The passing grade for the Ninja Academy was half of the average score, which was usually in the mid-fifties, so he was confident.
"That's right! If we fail, we'll run eight hundred laps around Konoha!" Might Guy declared energetically. He, too, had scored thirty points.
"Not only must we pass the theory exam, but I will also aim for first place in the practical exam!" After receiving Mu Yue's guidance for most of the month, Obito felt he could easily defeat his past self.
"I won't give up first place so easily," Might Guy retorted, refusing to back down.
Mu Yue smiled but didn't say anything. However, as someone who was aware of the abilities of all the fourth-grade students, she knew that their chances of getting first place weren't guaranteed. There was a student from the Hyuga clan in Class 1 who possessed considerable skill.
Although this student had only an 'A' potential, Obito and Might Guy hadn't unlocked their full potential yet. Obito hadn't awakened his Sharingan, and Might Guy hadn't mastered the Eight Gates.
However, Mu Yue couldn't be sure, as their levels were too low, and there were too many variables.
Mu Yue glanced at Itachi, who was quietly reading a book. She could confidently predict that Itachi would achieve a crushing victory and secure first place in both the theory and practical exams for their grade.
If intergrade competitions were allowed, Mu Yue wouldn't be surprised if Itachi became the top student in the entire school.
"I wonder if the system will give teachers rewards if their students perform well on the exams," Mu Yue mused to herself.
