Chapter 13: Demon Sculpture?
Chapter 13: Demon Sculpture?
Just a few minutes later, the black sports car entered the Rain Alley Home Community and stopped in front of a residential building.
Lu Ran repeatedly expressed his gratitude and got out of the car.
Deng Yutang also exited the vehicle and retrieved the Radiance Blade from the trunk, handing it to Lu Ran.
"Lu Ran."
The passenger window slowly lowered, and Deng Yuxiang, leaning on the steering wheel, waved goodbye to the outside.
Misinterpreting her gesture, Lu Ran immediately waved back in farewell.
Deng Yuxiang smiled, and the bright lipstick on her lips always reminded Lu Ran of a song by Zhou Zong.
She spoke up, "In the future, work hard with Tang, train well together, and achieve good results.
If I'm satisfied, I might even teach you a thing or two."
Lu Ran's spirits lifted instantly, "So, you also use a blade, Sister?"
Deng Yutang had just gotten into the car when he heard this and shouted out, "My sister is..."
Deng Yuxiang slammed her foot on the accelerator, and the black sports car roared out into the rain.
Lu Ran watched the car disappear into the rainy night, his mouth slightly agape.
That girl,
She's so beautiful and cool, but her name just doesn't seem right.
Such a stunning woman doesn't match the gloomy and melancholy atmosphere of Rain Alley on a rainy day.
Speaking of names, mine doesn't seem to fit my hometown either?
"The bright lipstick on her lips exudes a confident pride that I can see~"
Lu Ran hummed softly to himself as he walked back home.
He immediately went to his small bedroom and performed a respectful bow before the shrine:
"Divine Sheep, your disciple has returned."
Lu Ran paused, then continued, "Thank you for the Divine Sheep's teachings. The special usage of the Voice of Compassion is truly overpowered.
Your disciple has not failed your command, and I should be able to achieve the top rank in this assessment."
Lu Ran joined his hands in a prayer-like gesture and reported for a long time before the shrine, but the white jade sheep sculpture within remained motionless.
Seeing this, Lu Ran bowed once more before picking up the Radiance Blade and heading to the bathroom.
He soaked his clothes in the basin, then washed himself and the blade repeatedly.
He didn't stop until he was squeaky clean, then he stepped out of the bathroom, placed the blade on the table, and collapsed onto the small bed.
Exhausted, he quickly fell asleep.
But this sleep was restless.
In his dream, Lu Ran seemed to have arrived at a mysterious place.
"Where is this?" Lu Ran's expression was one of surprise as he looked around.
The area was dimly lit, shrouded in mist, and visibility was low.
This wasn't the problem; the real issue was that when ordinary people dream, they usually become immersed in the dream and are unaware that they are dreaming.
No matter how absurd the dream may be, people rarely question it before waking up.
Yet, at this moment, Lu Ran was very much awake!
He even believed that he was fully conscious and wondered how he had gotten there.
"Wuu~"
"Wuu~~~" A mournful wail echoed through the layers of mist.
Lu Ran's body tensed, and he spun around to face the source of the sound.
A cold wind blew, but it couldn't disperse the thick mist, only making Lu Ran feel a chill down his spine.
"Divine Sheep?" Lu Ran called out softly, tiptoeing forward.
As he moved, a massive sculpture gradually came into view.
Lu Ran's eyes widened slightly.
This sculpture was over ten meters tall, shaped like a dog, entirely black, and with a slender build.
A sculpture of the Evil Dog Clan?
"What?" Lu Ran was stunned, gazing up at the giant dog's sharp fangs.
"Wuu~~~"
"Woof! Woof!" The mournful wail and dog barks sounded again.
On the huge dog sculpture, Lu Ran saw the figures of numerous evil dogs.
They were of normal size but appeared as ethereal outlines, like souls swirling around the massive sculpture.
"Woof!!!"
The evil dogs sensed Lu Ran's presence and opened their huge mouths.
But before the evil dog souls could pounce, they were forcibly pulled back.
It was as if an invisible restraint surrounded the sculpture, confining the wailing and howling evil spirits.
"Gulp." Lu Ran swallowed, taking a step back.
He counted carefully, and there were at least thirty to forty evil dog souls.
Wait a minute!
Lu Ran's heart skipped a beat. Could these be the thirty to forty evil dogs that his team had slaughtered during the Demon Cavern mission?
Were their spirits here to seek revenge?
The Evil Dog Clan had many varieties, and indeed, there were demons capable of infiltrating human dreams to steal souls and exact revenge.
But Lu Ran was certain that the Evil Dog Clan did not possess such abilities!
"Divine Sheep?"
Lu Ran's temples throbbed, and he had no idea what was happening or where he was.
His only solace was his faith in the Divine Sheep.
However, aside from the wailing of evil spirits, there were no other sounds.
Suddenly, a faint glimmer of light flashed across the eyes of a massive evil dog sculpture.
"What the hell!" Lu Ran turned and rushed into the thick mist.
Trusting his survival instincts, he didn't want to linger, but after running a few dozen meters, he encountered another massive sculpture.
Lu Ran's face froze!
Was this a ghostly encounter?
No, that couldn't be right!
Lu Ran furrowed his brows and cautiously approached.
This sculpture had its back to Lu Ran, and it was clearly a dog, but it didn't have the slender build of the evil dog.
"What is this?" Lu Ran felt a sense of familiarity as he examined it.
He cautiously circled to the side of the sculpture and finally realized what kind of dog it was!
It resembled a wolf, completely black, with blood-red markings all over its body, making it both alluring and eerie.
Demon Clan Blood Plague!
Commonly known as the "Blood Plague Dog," they were far more infamous and vicious than the Evil Dog Clan.
The Blood Plague Dog could spew raging flames, capable of engulfing human cities in fire within a short time.
On the 15th night of the lunar month, this cruel demon was the last thing people wanted to encounter!
Aside from economic losses, the casualties and psychological trauma inflicted by the Blood Plague Clan on human society were immeasurable.
"Blood Plague," Lu Ran muttered, looking up at the sculpture in awe.
There were no wandering souls around this sculpture.
"Where am I?" Lu Ran was at a loss.
Why were there sculptures of the Demon Clan everywhere?
What the hell was this place?
The next morning, a drizzle continued.
Lu Ran woke up slowly becoming aware of the misty air in the small room.
Without a doubt, while he slept, the Divine Sheep had blessed him again! Lu Ran was overjoyed and carefully felt his body, realizing that the feeling of weakness had completely vanished.
"Thank you, Divine Sheep!" Lu Ran quickly went to the shrine and bowed repeatedly with reverence.
After several attempts to speak and patiently waiting, the Divine Sheep jade sculpture gave no instructions, so Lu Ran finally stretched lazily.
"Ah~~~"
He felt relieved!
Lu Ran looked at the clock on the wall; it was already 8:30 am.
The short three-hour journey in the Demon Cavern was indeed powerful and long-lasting; he had slept for an entire afternoon and night.
Today was the 6th day of the lunar month, and school was closed for a day, so Lu Ran wasn't worried about being late.
He went to the bathroom, threw his bloodstained clothes, soaked overnight, into the washing machine, and started brushing his teeth.
But as he brushed, his movements suddenly stopped.
"Something feels off."
Lu Ran brushed his teeth while pondering silently.
Why did he feel like he had forgotten something very important?
Yesterday, I went to the Demon Cavern, returned to school by bus, was sent home by the Deng siblings, took a shower, went to sleep, and woke up just now.
There's no problem!
Everything was clear; there was nothing else to it.
"Hmm." Lu Ran frowned slightly, unsure of what was wrong with him.
He woke up early in the morning feeling inexplicably confused.
After finishing his morning routine, Lu Ran picked up the Radiance Blade and headed to the master bedroom.
He carefully hung the Black Ice Blade back on the wall, his fingertips brushing over the cold blade.
The scenes of slaughtering the dog from the previous day flooded back into his mind.
Such a powerful weapon undoubtedly boosted Lu Ran's combat strength!
Lu Ran whispered, "Wait a few more days, and on the 15th day of the lunar month, I'll ask you to come out again!"
He finished speaking and lightly tapped the thin, sharp blade with his fingertips.
"Ding~"
The Radiance Blade emitted a crisp sound, pleasing to the ear.
"Good, then it's decided!" Lu Ran smiled, revealing his white teeth.
Living alone, he had many life hacks.
"You stay and watch the house; I'll go out for a meal."
"Ding~"
"Yeah, don't worry, I'll remember to bring an umbrella."
"Ding~"
Lu Ran was content and turned to leave.
But before stepping out, he looked up at the wedding photo hanging above his bed, right on the wall.
Although his parents had divorced long ago, his father had never taken down the photo.
Lu Ran slowly backed out of the room, gazing at the man in the old photo, and said softly, "I'll go see you soon."
