Chapter 13: Black Iron Grade Summon Beasts
Chapter 13: Black Iron Grade Summon Beasts
Lu Wu had completely forgotten about Plumpie at this moment, his entire focus drawn to the data of the summon beasts he had just seen.
...
Name: Jungle Wolf
Strength: 3-Star (Common)
Quality: Ordinary (Upgraded)
Attribute: Wind
Status: Alert (It senses that you're not a good person and probably covet its master's body. It's ready to bite you!)
Skills: Wind Blade (Proficient), Gale (Proficient), Bite (Proficient)
Weakness: Lightning, Grass
Description: A somewhat trained summon beast, it possesses a certain level of combat power, roughly capable of defeating around 50 mini skeletons.
...
Name: Snowman
Strength: 3-Star (Common)
Quality: Black Iron (Upgraded)
Attribute: Ice and Snow
Status: Joyful (As a visual-type summon beast, it thinks your looks match well with it. Go ahead and try to steal it away!)
Skills: Frost Aura (Mastery), Mist (Proficient), Frost Fist (Proficient), Ice Shield (Proficient)
Weakness: Fire, Grass
Description: Possesses the combat power of over 100 mini skeletons.
In terms of potential, this Black Iron grade summon beast aspires to evolve into a Boss-level summon beast, barely scraping by as a cannon fodder.
Hmm, let's see if you can steal it away.
...
The attributes of these two summon beasts were among the more representative ones that Lu Wu had seen from those senior classmates.
The Jungle Wolf represented the average level of the elite class.
As for the Snowman, it was the level required to gain admission to the Summoner University.
Upon seeing the attributes of these two summon beasts, Lu Wu's previously inflated ego, which had grown after obtaining the 'Mini Skeleton Training Guide 2.0', instantly deflated.
As an ignorant frog in a well, he now truly understood the vastness of the world.
He finally realized the caliber of summon beasts required to qualify for the High School League.
Take the Jungle Wolf, for example; it was already incredibly powerful to Lu Wu at this stage.
Yet, such a summon beast couldn't even make it past the preliminary rounds of the competition.
Even the more powerful Snowman, which had helped its master secure a spot at the Summoner University, didn't shine as brightly in the High School League.
In the individual competition, it ranked 27th in Quan City, and in the team competition, it placed 16th, not even qualifying to represent Quan City in the provincial tournament.
This goes to show how grueling and competitive the High School League is.
Becoming a professional summoner is no easy feat!
With this knowledge, Lu Wu could understand why Li Chun had no confidence in him passing the entrance exam for the Summoner University.
How could he have any confidence? Lu Wu aimed to pass the exam for the Summoner University.
This meant that Lu Wu had to cultivate the mini skeleton to the level of the Snowman within a year, or even less time.
And this was assuming he made it into the elite class and had teammates.
If he couldn't perform well during the class division and failed to get into the elite class, or if he did but no one wanted to team up with him, he would either have to sacrifice his ordinary looks or form a team on his own.
In the worst-case scenario, where Lu Wu had to form a team on his own, the difficulty of the league would skyrocket to hellish levels.
Although it might not be that dire, Lu Wu still felt immense pressure in his heart.
"No, no, we can't be so lackadaisical. Let's make use of the remaining time this afternoon and go see if the library is open!"
Lu Wu exclaimed as he stood up abruptly, heading towards the library, leaving Plumpie completely unprepared.
As she hesitated about taking out her bento box, Plumpie had no choice but to put it away, knowing that her lunch would have gone cold after being left out all day.
She endured her hunger and followed Li Wu into the library.
Plumpie's luck wasn't great, but Li Wu seemed to have better fortune. He had been concerned that the library might be closed, but to his surprise, it was still open.
Eagerly seizing this last opportunity, Li Wu grabbed a few books from the shelves and began devouring them.
Plumpie watched as Li Wu resumed his book-devouring mode, her stomach growling with hunger, feeling a little aggrieved.
However, she didn't show it, nor did she bother Li Wu. She found a book for herself and sat across from him, keeping him company as he continued reading.
Several hours passed, and it was already 6 or 7 pm when the library announced an early closing. Li Wu reluctantly emerged from his book-reading trance.
"Let's go home; we'll head back early today!"
Plumpie had intended to take out her lunch, but upon second thought, she realized it had been sitting there all day and was probably cold.
After a day of waiting, she lacked the courage to bring it out.
The lunch she had prepared early in the morning remained untouched.
Having gone without food all afternoon, she didn't say a word.
She silently followed Li Wu, holding her book and the piglet, with her backpack carrying the lunch box, just like usual, tailing behind Li Wu.
The only difference was that her mood was slightly more downcast.
Logically, she should have been used to this situation, especially since Li Wu had experienced even more unfair treatment before his transmigration.
Compared to the past, this was already an improvement.
But for some reason, she felt more aggrieved and downhearted than before.
She couldn't quite explain why.
As Plumpie's spirits sank, Li Wu, who was walking ahead, suddenly stopped.
"Stand here and wait for me."
"Okay."
Plumpie was a little puzzled but obediently nodded and stopped.
Li Wu turned and entered the nearby convenience store. Shortly after, he emerged with a bag in hand.
"Here!"
Li Wu returned to Plumpie's side and handed her the bag containing a bottle of water and a loaf of bread. Plumpie, who was completely unprepared for this, was taken aback.
"I can hear your stomach rumbling. Give me the pig and your backpack, and you can eat now!"
Without waiting for a response, Li Wu thrust the bag into Plumpie's hands and took the piglet and backpack from her.
When Li Wu touched the piglet, he paused, noticing its state of hunger, indicating it had gone almost a day without food.
This was impossible, as Plumpie cherished her piglet like a daughter, and she would never neglect feeding it unless she herself had gone a day without eating.
At that moment, Li Wu suddenly realized that the weight of the backpack he was holding felt a bit off.
In that instant, Li Wu seemed to understand something. He opened the backpack and indeed found two substantial lunch boxes inside.
With this revelation, Li Wu's expression darkened, and he raised his hand to smack Plumpie's forehead for her clumsiness and the exposure of the lunch boxes.
"I've never seen anyone as foolish as you!"
