Chapter 1291: No Retreat
Chapter 1291: No Retreat
Kuzan exchanged a few words with him before stepping back, almost as if showing off how comfortable he was.
Kuro spat, calling him a man without a sense of Responsibility.
Even if he was slacking off, he still had to shoulder his Responsibility—otherwise, it wouldn’t be called slacking off, it would just be rotting away completely.
Kuro exhaled a puff of smoke and barked, “Someone! Bring me some food!”
Quickly, several animal-like figures with Eyepatch markings on their faces rushed over, setting up a small table and serving delicious food.
“Boroboroboro.”
Just then, the Transponder Snail hanging on the table beside Kuro rang.
One of the Eyepatch-wearing men swiftly lifted the Transponder Snail and held it toward Kuro.
Kuro grabbed the receiver and casually said, “Hello, this is the Golden Lion.”
“Kuro.”
The Transponder Snail emitted a kind, elderly voice. The image flickered to reveal an old lady’s wrinkled, gentle face.
“He Popo,” Kuro greeted. “What do you want? If it’s to ask me to Retreat, forget it. The higher-ups already gave support, and I’ve received strict command not to withdraw.”
“It’s not about retreating. I’m here to mediate. You had a fight with Sakazuki, right?” The voice on the Transponder Snail chuckled. “I’ve brought new command. Sakazuki has decided—we No Retreat.”
…
At the New World frontline aboard Sakazuki’s Flagship’s Deck, a Navy officer handed the connected Transponder Snail receiver to Sakazuki, who paused before taking it.
“Cough.”
Sakazuki cleared his throat into the receiver and began, “Comrades.”
Every Warship along the frontline, including those at the New World’s edge and the bases, heard his voice through the Transponder Snail devices in their offices and on their masts.
All Navy personnel stiffened, standing at attention.
“Since the battle began, we’ve achieved victory after victory. The heroic Navy led by the Golden Lion created a miracle on the Grand Line. Now, victory is within reach—but the higher-ups ordered us to Retreat! The old man refuses to comply. We’ve already paid a tremendous price to eliminate the pirate era. We will not retreat!”
“The battle continues! In the name of Absolute Justice, we will eliminate the pirates once and for all!”
Every Navy officer who heard this raised their hand in a salute, roaring, “In the name of Absolute Justice!!!”
Sakazuki—No Retreat!
The World Government’s command had been completely ignored. At this moment, under the lead of numerous Vice Admirals, the forces surged forward.
Togekofacial expressionresolute steered his Warship toward an island ahead.
Aokiji, biting a cigar, drew his dual blades, his face brimming with pride.
Dalmatian clenched his Fist.
Storbery remained expressionless, calm, yet his actions were no slower than others’.
These fleet commanders pressed toward their Goal.
Meanwhile, in Wano Country, four individuals gathered in a quiet Meeting Room around a round table.
The Room was dimly lit. A man in a black dress uniform and a hooded cloak, his face obscured except for the glint of light on his glasses.
A bearded man, his facial hair visible in the shadows.
A mustache man, his features similarly indistinct.
And another, slouching lazily, though his tall frame was noticeable.
“Let’s begin the meeting.”
Klah pushed his glasses up. “You know the situation. Regarding the Revolutionary Army, Kas, is this related to you?”
“Hard to say.”
Kas replied, “Bei Luo Beti contacted me. He seems to have Awakened and is willing to stand with us—which is what we want. But the scale is too large. This isn’t something Bei Luo Beti alone could orchestrate.”
Wilbur nodded. “We estimated the Revolutionary Army would start by addressing internal issues, sparking change in nations they’ve overthrown. We expected a period of time for this to build momentum. We didn’t expect it to escalate so quickly or so massively.”
The World Government is willing to withdraw their frontline rather than deal with someone becoming the One Piece—this scale is unprecedented.
“Ah well, has the Revolutionary Army contacted you—or rather, us?”
Kuzan asked in surprise. “I thought it was a coincidence.”
“There’s no such coincidence. We discussed this at our first meeting,” Klah said. “The problem now is the scale. The entire Revolutionary Army must be mobilized to create this wave. But this also brings risks.”
“If the frontline retreats, we’ll face sniper attacks. That would harm our cause.”
Let Kuro Mr. and Kuzan stay in Wano Country, drawing in pirate forces?
The World Government is focusing on the Revolutionary Army’s base—aren’t we just doing their dirty work?
How could we possibly agree to that?
Kuzan pondered, “I heard a piece of news. Dragon himself has mobilized. Has he contacted us?”
Klah shook his head. “No contact since Wano Country. When Kuro Mr. started, he asked if we’d captured Mariejois. I thought maybe you’d launched an operation without informing me.”
“The timing wasn’t right,” Wilbur said. “But now is our chance.”
“We’ll see.”
Klah steepled his hands under his chin, his glasses glinting as he mused, “Notify David and Debang to prepare. If things go south, we’ll intervene ourselves—inciting chaos between member states and pirates, muddying the waters.”
“Are we really going that far?”
Kuzan asked, surprised. “If we’re discovered, it could backfire. Don’t underestimate the World Government’s intelligence capability—it’s formidable.”
As a former Admiral, he acknowledged the CP’s prowess. While their combat power might lag behind the Navy, their intelligence capability was world-class. No other intelligence organization, not even the most well-informed underworld kings, could rival CP.
“We can’t miss this opportunity,” Klah said, rubbing his temples. “If we let it slip, the World Government will crush the Revolutionary Army, and the Grand Line will return to its old state. All our progress will be undone. Opportunities don’t wait—they must be captured.”
At best, we might return to the era of the old Four Emperors. At worst, if someone finds the Laugh Tale, another Great Pirate Era will erupt, and all our efforts will be for nothing.
In this regard, we and the World Government share the same goal—the Great Pirate Era must not return.
Of course, the worst-case scenario is the World Government crushing the Revolutionary Army, then turning to eliminate the pirates. Even if we openly declared ourselves, the battle would be exhausting.
