Chapter 1291: Eliminating Glenwey
Chapter 1291: Eliminating Glenwey
Morningstar, the cat, was thoroughly impressed by Su Yu's ingenuity.
She had already been preparing to flee back to Blue Star, but Su Yu's quick combination of moves managed to take out four opponents of the same rank in an instant!
Narrowing her eyes, she smiled and said, "Now we finally have a bit of self-preservation capability in the Fig Hub!"
"Indeed," Su Yu replied calmly with a smile. "As long as the opponents aren't planetary-level or above, we can handle them easily! However, we need to catch up to Glenwey as soon as possible. We can't let this slippery fish get away."
Su Yu glanced at the control panel of the spacecraft.
The panel showed that the spacecraft was traveling at five times the speed of sound, the maximum allowed in the 170th star region.
Glenwey wasn't far away; they could catch up within ten minutes.
As for the spacecraft, Su Yu had purchased it from a passerby.
In his haste to chase Glenwey, Su Yu had randomly chosen a spacecraft parked at a docking station and had the AI Blue Whale look up the owner's contact number. He then called and immediately expressed his desire to buy it.
The spacecraft's owner was a strange, green, pole-like creature. Initially, it showed extreme impatience and was unwilling to sell its ride.
However, Su Yu had just acquired the entire wealth of four fellow cultivators, and the amount of Psychic Coins in his possession was staggering, piling up like a small mountain.
Being as generous as he was, Su Yu immediately offered a price the spacecraft owner couldn't refuse!
The owner's attitude did a 180-degree turn upon seeing the price.
The spacecraft was quickly transferred to Su Yu in just a few minutes.
...
"Soon we'll catch up to Glenwey. It's all up to you, so be quick and decisive!" Su Yu said to the Ring of the Departed, where Darak's soul resided.
"Sure thing," Darak replied with a slight hint of flattery. "But, Master, don't forget your promise from earlier."
"Don't worry about that," Su Yu replied coolly.
Darak's submissive and even fawning attitude towards Su Yu was something that would have been unimaginable in the past.
To an eighth-rank cultivator, Darak was nothing more than a slightly larger insect. How could he possibly flatter an insect?
But now, he felt no discomfort in fawning, for Su Yu was someone favored by the Hymn!
To be favored by the Hymn, flattery and servitude were not just acceptable; it would be an unparalleled honor to have his descendants serve Su Yu for eternity!
It was like in ancient China, where a county official could treat ordinary people as less than human, but he could never treat the crown prince as anything but with the utmost respect.
Su Yu had already promised to reshape Darak's physical form and take him as a servant, which made Darak extremely excited!
He was eager to kill Glenwey to prove his loyalty to Su Yu.
"Master, how much longer until we catch up to Glenwey?"
"Hmm... less than ten minutes, I think," Su Yu replied, a bit reluctantly. The term "Master" still sounded a bit awkward to him.
"I'm ready!" Darak reported. "However, using 'Soul Impact' too much will drain my soul energy. Once it depletes to a certain point, I won't be able to attack anymore."
"Don't worry about that. I'll buy soul energy from the official store to replenish you."
...
While Su Yu and Darak were communicating, Glenwey was flying slowly and steadily.
She wasn't using any spacecraft and had no electronic devices on her, thinking this would help her evade all tracking.
Her escape route was already planned—she would head to the neighboring city of Yarolan and use the teleportation device there to reach the 196th star region.
Zone 196 has a fast teleportation gateway that leads to other star regions, allowing quick access to other indigenous planets outside the Fig Hub. Once she reached one of those planets, she would be safe!
However, what she didn't know was that she couldn't even take the first step.
"Glovey, where are you going?" Just as Glovey was about to fly out of the city, Su Yu's teasing voice echoed in her ears.
"Right, you blue-skinned traitor, how dare you trick us!" This was the voice of the cat, Morningstar.
Hearing these two voices, Glovey felt as if she had been struck by lightning.
She quickly turned around, looking at Su Yu and Morningstar with disbelief.
Su Yu's expression was calm, but his eyes were sharp. Morningstar, on the other hand, was visibly bristling, ready to pounce and scratch her face to shreds!
"You! How did you find me?" Glovey's voice faltered.
How did Su Yu track her down? Logically, even the military shouldn't be able to pinpoint her location so quickly, right?
And yet, Su Yu managed to find her... Could it be because of this cute creature on his shoulder?
"You don't need to know that." A hint of malice crept into the corners of Su Yu's mouth. "Your four accomplices are dead. You should join them."
"Wait, no!" Glovey's face turned pale. "Please don't kill me! I'll give you everything I have and fulfill any request you make!"
"Killing you means everything you have will be mine." Su Yu remained unmoved, his gaze shifting to the [Ring of the Departed]. "Dalak, go. Be quick."
The residents of Haminis City heard another loud dragon's roar.
After the roar, Glovey's soul shattered, and her death mirrored that of her companions.
Su Yu never intended to spare Glovey.
While keeping her alive might have been more useful, perhaps as a spy in the military, such betrayal could not be tolerated, especially in the current environment of the Fig Hub.
Thus, Su Yu didn't hesitate and sent her to join her teammates.
...
In the aftermath, Haminis City was thrown into chaos!
First, the city's residents were in turmoil.
The ground tremors had already indicated that a planetary-level entity was involved in the conflict within the city. This realization sent shockwaves through the populace, and a large number of residents fled Haminis City in a panic, causing widespread chaos.
The incident also drew significant attention from the media, the Fig Parliament, and the Fig Military.
With interstellar teleportation just being established, this event cast a dark shadow over the governance of the Fig Hub, a very thick shadow indeed.
The Fig Military, in particular, was embarrassed.
Glovey was one of their own, and she had openly fled the teleportation station, vanishing without a trace.
Moreover, four military officers, all at the peak of the eighth rank, had also gone missing. These officers were rumored to be the ones who had openly robbed the crowd in front of the Hymn Tower!
This was a severe blow to the military's reputation, and the matter had to be thoroughly investigated.
The military immediately dispatched skilled tracking and investigative officers to look into the incident. High-ranking planetary-level officers also paid close attention, determined to get to the bottom of everything.
For a time, Zone 170 was in turmoil. Countless eyes were fixed on the region, waiting for further developments.
