Chapter 129: Nesting Hermit and Fortune-Telling Hermit
Chapter 129: Nesting Hermit and Fortune-Telling Hermit
Hawkins?
The three women looked puzzled. As natives of the East Sea, aside from the infamous Pirate King, the only other names that rang a bell were the Four Emperors and the Seven Warlords of the Sea. Even then, their fame might not surpass that of Arlong and Creek in the East Sea.
As for Sark—
"Who's that?"
He couldn't recall.
"With a bounty of 249 million berries, 'Magician' Basil Hawkins is a well-known pirate on the Grand Line, Captain Sark. He's a dangerous one," Bellamy informed them.
A bounty of over 200 million was definitely not something to scoff at!
Bellamy's disdain was not for all renowned pirates, but specifically for Legend.
Decisions regarding such high-profile individuals were certainly not within their autonomy.
Reinette pulled her goggles over her eyes and peered out the window. "Oh, I see it. It's sailing towards us, but with such an ugly flag."
Sark picked up his telescope and looked out the window as well. In the distance, on the vast sea, he spotted a ship sailing steadily. On the mast flew a pirate flag with a peculiar emblem.
Not all pirate flags on the high seas featured a skull-and-crossbones design. As symbols of their pirate crews, these flags often reflected the unique characteristics of their captains. Anyone well-versed in maritime intelligence could identify the crew from their flag.
The flag that caught Sark's attention depicted a blond-haired man, resembling a scarecrow, impaled by two crossed coffin nails, with a black crucifix looming behind him.
"Basil Hawkins?"
Sark lowered his telescope and murmured, "'The Magician'..."
The name sounded vaguely familiar.
"Let's go take a look."
He stood up and led his crew out of the captain's room onto the deck, where they fixed their gaze on the silhouette of the approaching vessel.
On the high seas, Basil Hawkins's pirate ship cleaved through the waves. A man with his hair tied in three braids, donning a red coat, and sporting a fierce countenance held a monocular telescope as he scanned the horizon.
Through the lens, he spotted a vessel traversing the seas. It was a black ship, unusually massive, and due to its sheer size, he could discern intricate details of the ship's interior.
In an instant, the fierce-looking man broke into a cold sweat, his pupils contracting as he hastily rushed back into the captain's room.
"Captain! Captain Hawkins!"
He didn't even bother to knock, bursting through the door as he frantically pointed outside. "The ship! It's a black ship!"
Inside the captain's room, a man with wavy blond hair, a slender build, and armor on his left arm was calmly divining with a set of Tarot cards. He glanced up at the frantic man, his expression calm, and said, "There's no need to panic. Fate has already been decided. Everything is predetermined. Now, slowly explain the situation."
This man, with a black crucifix tattooed on his throat and six vertical lines for eyebrows extending up to his forehead, exuded a menacing aura. However, his refined features lent him a touch of melancholy.
The fierce-looking crewmate swallowed hard and said, "Captain, I believe we've encountered the Natural Disaster Pirate Crew."
"Natural Disaster..."
Basil Hawkins's hand, which had been drawing a card, paused momentarily before placing the card on the table and flipping over the topmost Tarot card.
"It's fine. We're pirates too, so there shouldn't be any issues. They have their own agenda, but..."
Hawkins stood up and made his way to the deck. "I'm quite curious to meet this Supernova who currently boasts the highest bounty, exceeding 400 million berries."
With a bounty surpassing 400 million, this individual was currently the highest-wanted criminal in the first half of the Grand Line.
Hawkins wondered what extraordinary abilities this person possessed to warrant such an astronomical bounty.
As the two ships drew closer, seemingly converging on the same path, Sark caught sight of the vessel, which paled in comparison to the Death Harbinger.
Sark stood at the edge of his ship, looking down at the approaching dinghy. He saw a blond-haired man standing on the deck, craning his neck to meet his gaze. Sark smirked, "Oh, it's a blondie."
After just a glance, Sark lost interest. He couldn't remember who this person was, even after seeing him.
This meant the man wasn't an important figure.
If that was the case, then so be it.
As fellow pirates, there was no conflict, and since Sark had just shared his plans and was in a good mood, he decided not to bother with this guy.
As for Hawkins, he remained cold-faced and unaffected by Sark's presence.
The ship didn't stop, and just as the two vessels were about to brush past each other, Hawkins quickly cut the Tarot cards in his hand. Strangely, a few straws emerged from his pants, and he pasted several cards onto the straws, saying indifferently:
"Natural Disaster, Norton Sark's endeavor this time seems rather ill-fated."
"Hmm?"
Sark, who was just about to turn around, suddenly paused, turning his head to look. Hawkins continued to paste cards, saying, "The journey is fraught with danger. Hmm... The success rate for accomplishing your goal is 0.01%, and the probability of failure is 99.9%. It looks like you won't need my help to meet your demise."
Although his voice was calm, everyone standing on the deck heard him clearly. Akainu drew out the combat twin sticks from his waist, glaring fiercely.
"Hey, don't you dare talk about Captain Sark like that!"
Bellamy stepped forward and said to Sark, "Captain Sark, let me take care of him!"
"Give up."
Hawkins pasted a few more cards and glanced at Bellamy, saying indifferently, "If we were to fight, my chance of victory is 100%, and your chance of escape is 0%. You won't be able to get away, and as for your chance of survival..."
He pasted another card and paused briefly, looking surprised as he said, "100%?"
Bang!
A dark shadow struck down, causing Hawkins to crash into the deck, leaving a gaping hole.
"Captain!"
The crew of the pirate ship cried out in surprise.
At the hole in the deck, Sark, who had been on the Death Harbinger just moments ago, suddenly appeared. He clenched his fists, eyes wide open, and let out a sinister laugh. "Magician, Basil Hawkins. I remember now. It's that damned fortune-teller! Good! Very good! Hohohohoho! Perhaps my luck has finally turned around!"
If he remembered correctly, this guy was especially skilled at fortune-telling!
And
It was extremely accurate!
Just then, on a pirate ship sailing in the vast ocean, a group of pirates breathed a sigh of relief, grateful to have escaped unscathed.
Twenty minutes ago, they had encountered the 'Magician' Hawkins, but he hadn't taken any action and had let them go.
Bang!
Suddenly, one of the pirates suffered a heavy blow to the face, leaving a visible dent as he fell backward, his eyes rolling up.
From the hole in the deck, Hawkins emerged unscathed. Although his face appeared to have taken a heavy blow, there wasn't a single wound, but instead, a crack opened on his arm, and a smoking straw man crawled out, its head squished as it fell.
"Are we going to fight?"
Hawkins asked calmly, "My chance of survival is 100%. Today, I won't die."
"Whether I live or die, the choice is mine!"
Sark laughed heartily, "Hey, Hawkins, come aboard my ship and become my subordinate!"
Although he didn't believe in this stuff, he was a man who valued strength above all else. But if there was someone who could predict the future, it would still be better than nothing. The probability could serve as a reference and help improve his plans.
Now that he remembered who this guy was, Sark wouldn't pass up the opportunity to have a useful probability forecaster on his side.
