Chapter 129: A Blade Should Never Defy Its Master
Chapter 129: A Blade Should Never Defy Its Master
Eustass Kid felt humiliated.
As the Supernova with the highest bounty among the Eleven Supernovas, besides those four idiots, he was actually the first to get knocked down!
He’d been too careless!
His companion Killer had fallen alongside him.
Two Supernovas on one ship, both the first to fall!
Effectively, his entire Eustass Kid pirate crew was the first to be wiped out!
Dammit, why?!
As the self-proclaimed "First of the Supernovas", he’d finally encountered the rare gathering of so many Supernovas at once.
This should’ve been double the fun—why had it turned out like this?!
That man must be taught a lesson!
A massive steel arm, wide enough to cover Kuro, smashed downward. Kuro lifted his gaze, and his blade shimmered upward.
Bang!
A shockwave erupted from the steel arm, ruffling his hair.
The colossal arm had been halted mid-strike—wedged between the edge of Kuro’s slender blade, unable to advance even an inch.
“Hah!”
Eustass Kid extended his other hand sideways, and his fist smashed into the nearby wall. Countless weapons scattered around them began getting sucked in, gathering onto his arm.
The arm swung horizontally, obliterating structures in its path as it barreled toward Kuro.
But instead of directly attacking Kuro, the arm halted near him, circling behind to enclose Kuro from the rear.
Eustass Kid’s face twisted into a savage grin. His body detached from the massive steel arm, both hands gripping its front end as he shoved forward with all his might.
“Taste this—Reflect!”
This technique had easily wounded even robotic opponents like Bartolomeo Bear before.
Now Kuro was trapped, surrounded inside and out—how could he possibly dodge?!
Even with Haki, such power would be impossible to defend against!
The steel arm rocketed toward Kuro with mind-boggling speed.
“Oh?”
Kuro’s eyes widened slightly, surprise flashing across his face.
“Moonstep.”
Bang!!
The two steel arms collided, unleashing another shockwave that hurled debris hundreds of meters away.
The ground cratered, littered with shattered weapons and metallic scraps.
Kuro was gone.
“No way!”
Eustass Kid looked up. The infuriating man stood midair, his steps treading on invisible footholds as he observed the battlefield.
“This destructive power is terrifying. Even with Haki, defending would be tough.”
“Six Styles, huh? What a nuisance,” Eustass Kid gritted his teeth.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Suddenly, Capone Bege’s barrage ambushed Kuro from a hidden position.
Kuro’s feet tapped the air repeatedly, his figure plummeting downward to evade Capone Bege’s suppressive fire. Simultaneously, he slashed his blade toward Eustass Kid.
“Reflect!”
Eustass Kid pointed at Kuro’s blade. Instantly, Kuro’s sword trembled violently, as if trying to recoil toward its wielder.
Kuro frowned, tightening his grip on the hilt. His foot stamped midair, and he landed gracefully on the ground.
“My ability isn’t just about absorbing metal. Reflect lets me repel any metal in any direction. Even your sword is metal!” Eustass Kid jeered arrogantly.
“That’s why I say—Devil Fruit users are truly terrifying,” Kuro remarked, scratching his head.
That wasn’t an empty compliment.
He’d been reluctant to come to the Grand Line before—and still was.
And even more unwilling to enter the New World.
Wasn’t that precisely out of fear of these Devil Fruit users?
“You’re a swordsman, right?”
Eustass Kid gathered metallic debris in his hands as he spoke to Kuro. “When your blade disobeys you, doesn’t it feel awful?”
Kuro raised an eyebrow, glancing at his [Huazhou]. He clicked his tongue and said, “Blades should never defy their master.”
Gripping the hilt, he channeled a surge of jet-black Armament Haki along the blade. The rebellious tremor vanished instantly.
In a flash, he vanished and reappeared before Eustass Kid, his sword cleaving down in a brutal arc.
Caught in Kuro’s rapid advance, Eustass Kid showed no fear—only a grin spreading across his face. “This time, there are plenty of things to swap around!”
Capone Bege, standing afar, smirked. “Men, attack!”
The barrage resumed.
“Room!”
At Law’s shout, Eustass Kid’s body vanished. Only metallic fragments floating around Kuro remained. These fragments suddenly transformed into cannonballs and bullets, unleashing a bombardment a dozen times fiercer than before!
Whoosh!
Kuro swung his blade once within the explosion. A titanic wave of air pressure erupted outward, dispersing the blast.
He emerged unscathed, his blade still locked in its downward arc.
“Reflect!”
Eustass Kid, prepared in advance, launched a new metallic arm straight at Kuro.
“One Sword Style.”
Kuro sheathed his sword in reverse, assuming an Iaijutsu stance. As his figure flashed, the blade unsheathed—a wisp of sword aura slicing horizontally through the incoming steel arm.
Bang!
Both arms were severed laterally, scattering like broken twigs.
Kuro reappeared at a distance, gently resheathing his blade.
“This isn’t over yet!”
Law pointed at the feral-like man. In a blink, he vanished, swapping places with a nearby rock near Kuro. The beast-like man roared, launching a thunderous punch toward Kuro.
Kuro slashed his blade, but the man twisted midair with uncanny flexibility, evading the strike. His fist struck at a deceptively sharp angle.
Kuro arched an eyebrow, sidestepping to a few meters away.
“With that bulky frame, you’re surprisingly agile,” Kuro remarked, eyeing Shyarly’s prison uniform. “Come to think of it, those are prisoner’s clothes, right? Escaped jail?”
“I’ve got nothing to say to a lapdog of the World Nobles!” Shyarly spat hatefully.
Kuro shrugged, placing a hand over his chest in a mock bow. “My sincere apologies. But men like you belong in the sea—with your corpse.”
“This isn’t the time for chatter, Navy dog!” Shyarly growled like a beast, his body coiling before springing forward.
“That man…”
Lida, observing the battle, exclaimed, “Shyarly—the ‘Feral Beast’? I thought he’d vanished. Never expected to see him here on Sabaody. Judging by his state, is he planning to be sold at auction? Or was he rescued as a slave by Trafalgar Law?”
“You know him?” Klah asked.
Lida nodded. “He was the captain of a notorious pirate crew on the Grand Line. A legendary fighter. His strength rivals the Pacifista.”
Shyarly lunged, his fist sweeping toward Kuro. The swordsman merely sidestepped effortlessly, then countered with a reverse slash.
“Room!”
Kuro’s blade cleaved empty air. At the exact moment of his strike, the swapped target materialized—
A short, stout figure emerged directly before Kuro.
Capone Bege.
His chest cavity burst open, miniature gunmen inside pivoting their firepower straight at Kuro.
Boom! Boom! Boom!!!
Such concentrated, point-blank fire from the front—no one could evade!
