Chapter 1289: Cavalry
Chapter 1289: Cavalry
December 6th, 2017
Silai Military Camp, Luoyang!
The current Luoyang is no longer the ruins left after the warlords' rebellion against Dong Zhuo. Since Lu Hai Kong took control of this city four years ago, it has been developing at a terrifying pace.
Four years later, Luoyang has transformed from the ruins of the past and once again become the center of the entire world.
Even in the current economic downturn, where people from all over the world are worried about the impending foreign invasion of the Demonic Avatars from Beyond the Realm, Luoyang remains bustling with constant caravans, undiminished in its prosperity.
The two boys sitting in the carriage had been focusing on the scenery outside since they were about ten li (about 5 kilometers) away from Luoyang.
However, rather than admiring the scenery, they were observing the ancient city of Luoyang, which had been passed down for thousands of years, and the governance of those in charge.
Today's Luoyang is undeniably impeccable, no matter who looks upon it, even with the most critical eye.
However, what shocked the two boys the most was not the city's prosperity or its various public welfare projects, but the unity among the citizens.
From the moment they entered Luoyang's territory, or rather, Lu Hai Kong's domain, the two boys noticed something they had never seen in the territories of other warlords.
It was a unity of hearts and minds, a terrifying cohesion from the top to the bottom, which meant that Lu Hai Kong and the other warlords were on entirely different levels.
In reality, the other warlords, despite controlling vast territories and powerful armies, were merely warlords. If war were to break out, and their armies defeated, their forces would likely disintegrate, and the power they could mobilize was limited to their personal resources.
Lu Hai Kong's domain, however, was different. It was not just a territory but a well-established and highly cohesive nation. The two were not on the same level.
If anyone dared to oppose such a force, they would be up against not just Lu Hai Kong but an entire nation. Every citizen was willing to fight for their country.
"If not for the impending foreign invasion, this world might already be theirs!" exclaimed the boy with a striking appearance.
The other boy did not refute this statement. It was evident that just by traveling about ten li from Luoyang, they had reached a somewhat hasty conclusion, one that was also shared by the knowledgeable people of the world.
"Do you want to stay?" The handsome boy asked after a moment's thought.
"Who knows? We've just arrived. Let's explore the city, and if I find it suitable, I might stay. What about you?" The boy with the striking appearance lay back lazily, gazing at his companion.
Just as the boy was about to speak, the sound of horse hooves suddenly filled the air. The rhythmic and orderly hoofbeats indicated the presence of elite cavalry, instantly capturing the attention of the two boys.
Outside the carriage, about a hundred meters away, a small group of around a hundred black-clad cavalrymen galloped past.
The black-clad cavalry unit, though small in number, exuded an overwhelming presence. Despite being over a hundred meters away, the two boys in the caravan could still feel the impact of their passage.
The cavalry unit swiftly passed by the boys within seconds, but those few seconds left a profound impression. After all, these boys were from the Jiangnan region, where cavalry was a rare sight, let alone such an elite force!
"That must be General's elite Black Gale Cavalry!" exclaimed the boy with a striking appearance. The other boy nodded in agreement, but they were both surprised when the carriage driver spoke up.
"No, young masters, the cavalry that just passed wasn't the Black Gale Legion. They were just an ordinary cavalry unit!"
The two boys were stunned by this revelation...
Meanwhile, in Luoyang City.
The cavalry unit that had just passed the boys entered the city through the military gate. The carriage driver was right; this unit wasn't the Black Gale Legion, but they weren't an ordinary cavalry regiment either.
They were like a reserve force for the Black Gale Legion and one of Lu Hai Kong's second-tier cavalry units, which he had been focusing on cultivating in recent years.
So, the boys' assessment wasn't entirely off; they had some discernment.
After entering Luoyang, the cavalry unit's leader delivered the intelligence they had gathered to the Northern Defense Tower.
The intelligence seemed crucial, and upon reaching the Northern Defense Tower, it was immediately forwarded to Lu Hai Kong, who had recently returned to his duties.

Upon reading the intelligence, Lu Hai Kong's spirits lifted. With a grand gesture, he issued an order, and within less than an hour, a cavalry unit led by several generals charged out of Luoyang.
Coincidentally, this force exited through the same gate as the one used by the two boys.
The boys had entered through a civilian gate, which was less convenient than the military gates used by the army, especially for a large caravan like theirs. It took them over an hour to reach the gate, and just as they were about to enter, the elite cavalry unit exited through the same gate.
The boys were left speechless as the dense sound of hooves filled the air and the elite cavalry unit passed by once more.
"Major General Huang Hansheng, Dian Wei, Colonel Cheng Yao Jin, Wei Chi Gong, and Qin Shubao, along with the Black Gale Legion... Something big must be happening!"
