Chapter 1282: I Can Accept Failure Endlessly, But You Only Have One Chance
Chapter 1282: I Can Accept Failure Endlessly, But You Only Have One Chance
Blood flowed from his neck, yet there was no pain. Kuro remained there, his expression frozen in shock. But soon, his body’s instinctive resistance to death alerted him to the Ghost Cry slicing toward him from behind.
“Absolute Domain!!”
The blade had already sunk halfway into his neck. Kuro’s pupils constricted, and the ground beneath him suddenly collapsed outward. The magnetic field binding him shattered in the chaotic air. Kuro instantly flashed sideways, dodging the blade’s slash and tearing his neck free from Ghost Cry. A spray of blood arced into the sky as he soared upward.
“You bastard!!”
Kuro clutched his neck, his face darkening.
If not for activating Awakening in time, he might have been finished.
“You’re not invincible either,” Law taunted, grinning. “Too bad. Otherwise, this ‘game’ would’ve ended.”
Under swirling blood Qi, the wound on his neck began healing. Kuro lowered his hand, his expression hardening. “Interesting. I almost fell for it. That attack completely bypassed Observation Haki?”
Observation Haki was the power of ‘hearing,’ and Kuro had sensed the strike. But Awakening’s ‘piercing’ force had nullified his Haki, while the blade carried a silent strength that masked its presence entirely. It was an absolute stealth attack and assassination technique.
Kuro’s eyes swept over Eustass Kid and Law. One focused on relentless offense with devastating electromagnetic containment, the other on mobility and stealth strikes. Their coordination was flawless.
“Time to get serious.”
The fractured ground erupted outward, engulfing half the island. The land crumbled, rising in fragments.
A Wu Sheng Kong Sha surged into Yokai Blade, and Kuro flicked two fingers along its edge, igniting a golden glow. Slung over his shoulder, he coldly declared, “Unenlightened Divine Wind Murderous Sword.”
“Bone Whistle!”
Swish!
The blade cleaved through space, turning the domain into a realm of slashes.
Eustass Kid had just landed when he shifted his stance. Crimson electromagnetic energy crackled around him.
Law retracted Ghost Cry, swinging it downward. A transparent energy dome dispersed from the blade, encasing him.
Clang!!
Two deafening rings erupted from Eustass Kid and Law’s bodies, shaking them violently. Eustass Kid staggered, blood streaming from his body.
Law fared worse. He dropped to one knee, his skin splitting like torn parchment, turning him into a blood-soaked figure.
Physical resilience and defense—Law was no match for Eustass Kid.
“Kuro, keep attacking from range! No more close combat!” Lida warned from below.
If she didn’t know Kuro’s recklessness, she’d have joined the fight herself.
“Are you kidding? Do I look like that kind of person!”
Kuro shot Lida a glare before exhaling, dispersing Absolute Domain.
“Let’s continue. You brats won’t trick me again. Time to show you a new game!”
He released Yokai Blade, which transformed into a crimson-backed black dragon. The dragon’s form didn’t expand, staying the size of the blade. After circling Kuro once, it plunged into his body.
Kuro spread his arms, clenching his fists. “New strength, new form!”
His eyes flared open. Steam-like energy twisted his face as a crimson faceplate formed over his forehead and cheeks. From both sides of his brow, gruesome curved horns sprouted.
Kuro’s body bulged, now clad in crimson armor etched with a dragon’s encasement pattern, culminating in a dragon head snarling across his chest. The head reshaped, broadening slightly, its head adorned with mane-like patterns, resembling a lion, crowned with horns.
Dragon and lion entwined, spiraling horns—this was the mythical Ní!
A crushing Killing Intent descended, the dragon’s terrifying pressure leaving Eustass Kid and Law gasping.
“Hey, how the hell did you reach this stage?!” Eustass Kid roared. “Why can your sword fuse with you?!”
Kuro smirked, offering no reply.
Simple life-force techniques couldn’t achieve fusion. Even Kuro could barely control it, relying on Yokai Blade’s independent dragon strikes.
But first, he was a swordsman. Second, Yokai Blade was his blade, fueled by his Killing Intent.
With shared Killing Intent, he could channel Azure Dragon Devil Fruit’s power through swordsmanship. This fusion was an advanced evolution of that principle.
This was Kuro’s newly perfected ultimate form.
He raised his fist, a flame igniting above it. With a pull, he slammed it downward.
“Fire Fist!!”
Boom!!
A colossal fire column erupted, engulfing the battlefield in infernos, obscuring Law and Eustass Kid.
“Magnetic Field!”
Eustass Kid roared. Electromagnetic forces carved a safe zone from the flames.
Law slashed Ghost Cry, fragmenting space to cut through part of the firestorm.
“Lightning Spear!”
Kuro struck again, summoning golden thunder into a massive spear. More spears materialized, forming a dense network in the sky.
Vroom!
He hurled them downward.
“Mechanical Electromagnetic Cannon!”
Eustass Kid unleashed his mechanical arm, firing a crimson beam to intercept the thunderstorm.
“Cut!”
Law wildly swung Ghost Cry, slicing through the falling spears. But suddenly, a shadow loomed before him.
Smack!
His wrist, mid-swing, was seized.
“You!” Law’s eyes widened.
Kuro grinned maliciously. “Let’s see you use that blade now!”
A crackling sound erupted as bone snapped. Law’s wrist twisted like a broken vine.
Before Law could cry out, Kuro’s other hand gathered thunder, flame, and gale into a spiraling lightning-fire blade, piercing Law’s chest.
Hiss!
The palm tore through Law’s torso, freezing him mid-air, blood spilling from his lips.
“I can fail endlessly, Law,” Kuro whispered. “But you? Only once. Taste the feeling of being destroyed from within.”
Bang!
With a mighty clench, Kuro’s fingers detonated within Law’s chest. Gale winds erupted from inside, blood gushing from his body. His form disintegrated, thunder shattering him into pieces. Flames devoured the fragments, leaving only ash swirling before Kuro.
And the Ghost Cry, clattering to the ground.
