Chapter 1280: Little Brats
Chapter 1280: Little Brats
It had been a long time.
Kuro himself hadn’t stirred from Wano Country in over a year. Besides the heavy responsibilities of governing the land, the fusion of the Yokai Blade had reached a critical stage—leaving him disinclined to venture out unless absolutely necessary.
After all, it wasn’t safe.
But now that he’d obtained the Yokai Blade, he had to test it.
Law had been struggling alone, so adding Eustass Kid to the mix made sense. It was the perfect chance to experiment with his newfound strength.
And this experiment? It was dangerously addictive.
Because it was that powerful!
The physical resilience he’d once envied in Kaido? Now his!
The mastery over nature he’d admired in Big Mom? Also his! True, it wasn’t the Hom Hom Devil Fruit, but the Mythical Zoan’s power allowed him to manipulate natural forces just as effectively—and Kuro could mimic this aspect flawlessly.
His swordsmanship, already the greatest in the world, had surpassed even Dracule Mihawk’s. Now, as the World’s Greatest Swordsman, that edge was sharper than ever!
And the Float-Float Fruit’s unique strategic advantage? It placed him naturally in an unbeatable position!
After holding back for a year, diving into combat against a formidable opponent like this? Kuro felt the thrill surge through him.
The raging sea of flames painted Kuro’s body a fiery red. Instinctively raising his arms, he roared with laughter, “I’m absolutely buzzing with excitement!”
“Huh?”
Klah below froze, his expression twisting in confusion. That line sounded oddly familiar.
But Kuro himself caught the slip and quickly corrected, “Who else dares challenge me?!”
Yet he hovered midair, with no vengeful warrior lurking behind to strike his head the moment he boasted. Lida was positioned safely below and behind him—there was no danger.
In the fiery sky, Law arrived just in time with Eustass Kid, their bodies scorched and trailing scorched-black residual energy. Using magnetic levitation, Eustass Kid suspended metal platforms beneath their feet to hover in place, staring in disbelief at the inferno below as he shouted:
“Are you kidding me?!”
How could anyone dodge an attack like this?!
One Kuro was already hard enough to handle!
Now he wielded Kaido’s body and Big Mom’s elemental attacks too?!
They’d faced all three powers separately before—each was a nightmare to fight. Two together was worse. Three? Impossible!
And combined? It shattered every expectation!
At the same time, a crushing despair settled over them.
Originally two-on-one… now it felt like two-on-three?
“Don’t screw with us!”
Law roared too, “Fine, even if your sword ate a Devil Fruit, giving you elemental attacks is one thing—but why do you have the dragon’s physical resilience too?!”
“You’ll have to guess!”
Kuro smirked toward the sky, his five fingers tightening around the Yokai Blade again. This time, a storm of piercing winds swirled around the blade.
“Vacuum Slash!!”
Whoosh!!
The blade slashed downward, unleashing a howling wind that tore through the flaming sky. The gale was so fierce that nameless birds flying overhead were shredded to pieces. As the wind surged forward, Eustass Kid and Law’s eyes contracted in horror.
Too fast! No time to react!
“It’s not over yet! Wind fuels fire—burn it all to ashes!!”
Kuro thrust one hand upward, and the flames beneath the wind blades surged higher, merging with the swirling gales. The inferno connected with the fire below, blazing skyward until the clouds themselves turned crimson.
Whoosh!
In another corner of the island, Law flashed away with Eustass Kid, reappearing just in time to collapse to their knees, gasping for breath.
Their bodies were charred, fresh wounds scorched black by the flames that had seared their blood away.
Kuro smirked at them, suddenly raising his blade high while spreading his other hand. His fingers flexed, pulling the dark clouds scorched by flames downward.
After refining the Float-Float Fruit’s power, dispersing rain clouds was effortless—so naturally, concentrating them was too.
The flames’ heat warped the air, summoning thunderclouds even from the faintest humidity. And Kuro? He wanted them concentrated.
Especially with a dragon’s blade that controlled nature itself!
Boom!
A muffled thunderclap split the sky as the dark clouds sank under Kuro’s command, gathering above him.
Hiss!
A burst of golden lightning erupted from the Yokai Blade, striking the clouds. The dark mass erupted in arcs, sending more lightning cascading into the heavens.
“Tenman.” Kuro intoned calmly.
“No way…” Law whispered, disbelieving.
“Mahātmā!!”
Boom!!
Golden lightning descended like a divine wrath, slamming into their bodies. Thunderous pillars engulfed them, surging with electric currents.
Law had no time to dodge. After awakening techniques and relentless movement, his guard had finally slackened. Now, he was struck head-on.
“Relive the feeling you had when you faced Big Mom!” Kuro grinned.
“Don’t joke around!”
Eustass Kid’s voice burst from the lightning, battered and panting as he stood. His mechanical arm, forged from severed limbs, locked onto Kuro. Metal components assembled into a massive cannon barrel.
“I won’t accept this! How dare you be this strong?! I won’t accept it!! Super Electromagnetic Cannon!!!”
Boom!!!
A concentrated electromagnetic beam erupted from the cannon, a searing wisp of destruction.
Kuro watched the beam approach, calm as ever. “When you fought Big Mom… didn’t she say something to you?”
He pointed the Yokai Blade at the beam. Golden lightning encased the blade, merging with a surge of flame. The two forces fused, and the blade radiated a golden lightning aura.
“Cry Light Cannon!!”
Boom!!
The golden beam collided with the electromagnetic cannon, illuminating the battlefield in blinding brilliance.
Within the light, golden energy and electromagnetism clashed in a stalemate.
Lida tore open her snack bag, munching casually as she adjusted her view.
“Right? No… Wait, how was it again?”
She shifted direction. Now, Kuro was to her left, Eustass Kid and Law to her right.
“There we go. Kuro said before that whoever’s on the left always wins when powers clash.”
As she finished, the golden light surged forward, overpowering the electromagnetic beam. It struck Eustass Kid head-on, unleashing a cataclysmic explosion.
Kuro flicked his blade, gazing down at the smoke and dust.
“Before you even set sail, some of us had already ruled the Grand Line. Every year, countless brats like you die out here. If you’re lucky to survive, just accept it—don’t mistake luck for strength.”
The smoke cleared, revealing Eustass Kid and Law collapsed, panting.
The Cry Light Cannon had struck true, leaving its mark.
Kuro held the Yokai Blade, its edge still crackling with residual lightning. “Before you were even born, the Navy had already ruled the Grand Line. So face reality, little brats.”
“Like hell we will!”
Law’s voice rasped from the ground, broken but defiant. He sucked in a breath, forcing himself upright. Glaring at Kuro, he snarled, “We nearly killed Big Mom alone. Adding one more won’t change a thing!”
Eustass Kid rose too, silent but focused, his mechanical arm already concentrating power.
“Oh? True. You’ve carved your own path in the Grand Line. If you fell this easily, it wouldn’t be fun at all.”
Kuro smirked. “So give me more fun. Don’t disappoint me, Four Emperors of the new era.”
