Chapter 1277: Heat Breath, Destructive Wind
Chapter 1277: Heat Breath, Destructive Wind
Kuro loomed over the two, his expression laced with disappointment. "Is that all? No more fun left in you?"
Law pointed Ghost Cry at Kuro, disbelief etched across his face. "Impossible! You have no reason to possess such physical resilience! What did you do, Kuro?! Did you undergo modifications?!"
Unless he’d been altered, Law couldn’t fathom another explanation. Yet even cyborgs had limits.
"Even cyborgs shouldn’t be this durable! In the manga Ocean Warrior Sora, the villain ‘Germa 66’ was a cyborg, but even by manga standards, no one could emerge unscathed from our attacks! Your body’s quality rivals a Zoan-type Devil Fruit user!"
"Hey, is he a Zoan?!"
Eustass Kid blurted, startled. "No way—he’s clearly Paramecia! The Float-Float Fruit doesn’t grant Zoan-level strength!"
"How should I know?!" Law snapped back, locking eyes on Kuro, his throat bobbing. "All I know is this bastard’s getting harder to handle."
Big Mom hadn’t imposed such oppressive pressure on them—she was just a "steel balloon." But Kuro now felt like Kaido incarnate: absorbing damage effortlessly, his body naturally healing over time.
"Out of techniques already?" Kuro mused, raising his hand toward Kid and Law. His fingers curled inward, compressing the air around them at extreme speed into a visible air bubble in his palm.
"Room! Get us out!"
Law reacted instantly as the air currents shifted, teleporting himself and Kid away from the vacuum zone.
"Surgery Fruit’s spatial power’s a real pain—almost as bad as Moer’s."
Kuro flicked his wrist, launching the compressed air bubble toward their vanished location. His Observation Haki pinpointed their reappearance spot.
"Slash it!"
The moment Law reappeared, the crimson air bubble streaked toward him. He swung Ghost Cry, cleaving it in half. The fragments tore past their flanks, blasting into the Grand Line behind them.
Boom!!!
Waves erupted skyward, leaving two lingering vortexes scarring the sea.
Law glanced back, pulse racing. "This kind of power—"
"Don’t gawk!" Kid roared.
Law spun to see Kid’s skeletal fortress concentrating metal into his arms, fists rocketing forward. Kuro had already teleported, slashing downward.
Clang!!
The Black-Back Blood Blade clashed against Kid’s metallic arms, sparks flying. Despite magnetic field-enhanced strength, Kid’s fists—colossal compared to Kuro’s slender blade—were forced backward.
"This force is a joke!" Kid gritted. "Way too much!"
"Hmm", Kuro studied his blocked blade, intrigued. "Even with weak Haki, you’re resisting my sword through magnetic forces? Impressive."
"Try this for impressive!" Kid snarled, yanking his fists back. Kuro felt his blade wrenching free.
"Even the World’s Greatest Swordsman’s blade is just—"
Kid strained as if pulling a massive weight, face reddening. "Just metal! Come here!!"
With a violent jerk, the Yokai Blade ripped from Kuro’s grip, slamming into Kid’s metallic body.
"Magnetic aura!"
Kid’s fists, marked with 'N' and 'S' poles, slammed shut around Kuro.
"Tch", Kuro sneered, eyes narrowing. "Magnetic forces, huh? You’ve developed them well, Eustass Kid. Impressive indeed!"
Suddenly, the ground quaked, disintegrating into floating debris.
"Law!!" Kid bellowed.
"Kroom!"
Law flashed above Kuro, elongating Ghost Cry’s blade through Kuro’s skull, piercing his abdomen.
"Paralyze!"
Crackling electricity surged, halting the floating rubble.
"No Awakening techniques for you!" Law declared.
"Right! Don’t underestimate us! Magnetic Tiger Clamp!!"
Kid’s fists smashed inward, crushing Kuro like a leaf in a storm.
Crunch!!
Kuro’s frail frame nearly flattened under the magnetic onslaught.
Kid’s mechanical arm extended, concentrating metal into a colossal cannon. Beams gathered at its maw.
"Whether you’re a cyborg or hiding new Float-Float Fruit tricks, none of it matters now!"
Law accelerated Ghost Cry’s blade deeper through Kuro’s abdomen, pinning him to the earth.
"Further!!"
Law pressed his feet against Kuro’s back, driving the hilt into his skull.
"Pierce…"
He inhaled sharply, tightening his grip.
"Super Electromagnetic Cannon!!"
Kid’s beam reached critical intensity, aimed at Kuro’s immobilized head.
"Wave."
"Heat Breath."
As they unleashed their techniques, the trapped Kuro spoke.
Vrrrrr!!
The Yokai Blade, bound by magnetic forces, suddenly glowed crimson-hot, its surface searing like lava. It sliced upward, cleaving Kid’s cannon barrel clean open. Molten metal dripped from the cut.
The blade whirled, crimson streaking as it severed Kid’s shoulder.
"Argh!!"
Kid clutched his wound, his detached arm and upper bicep igniting, fire searing his stump as he plummeted.
The magnetic field shattered.
Kuro twisted, golden sparks crackling on his fist as he smashed Law’s abdomen. Law doubled over, vomiting blood.
"Don’t even think—"
"Destructive Wind!!"
Law’s technique ignited, but Kuro’s blade slashed upward from below, unleashing razor-sharp slashes that diced Law’s body into fragments.
The anesthetic Ghost Cry slipped from Law’s grasp, its ability fading. The elongated blade recoiled, reverting to normal. Kuro plucked it mid-air, tossing it aside before the ability fully dissipated.
Such paralyzing techniques only disrupted spatial positioning, not true bodily harm—like slicing someone without killing them.
Kuro glanced at his bleeding wounds—the paralysis and Kid’s earlier assault had left marks.
He opened his palm, summoning the Yokai Blade.
"Interesting. If you’d landed those techniques, I might’ve struggled. Not that I’d die—I’m confident of that—but this experiment’s reached its goal."
Blood qi swirled around him, knitting his wounds. The crimson aura cloaked him in menace, a hellish demon reborn.
"Fun’s about over, gentlemen."
