Chapter 1276: Like a Dragon
Chapter 1276 Like a Dragon
Two attacks were launched almost simultaneously. The extremely long Ghost Cryblade slashed downward from above, its massive twin fists on either side moving at incredible speed. Even if Kuro tried to dodge downward, the Ghost Cry’s slash would track him—it was nearly impossible to evade.
Kuro had no intention of dodging either. Two strands of Wu Sheng Kong Sha materialized, flying straight toward the colossal fists. The ribbons adhered to the fists’ surfaces the moment they made contact, instantly carving away entire sections.
The impact force was considerable, but Kuro had no intention of letting himself get hit. The Wu Sheng Kong Sha strands unraveled, creating more maneuvering space. As he prepared to move forward, the mechanical arms suddenly collapsed, letting the ribbons flutter freely while the remaining metal fragments reassembled into two towering walls.
“I knew it wouldn’t be that easy, but activate!”
Eustass Kid extended his right arm, pointing two fingers at the walls. “South Pole!”
The left wall gained an “S” insignia.
“North Pole!”
The right wall gained an “N” insignia.
Eustass Kid spread his five fingers wide, aiming at Kuro. “Magnetic Field! Stay right there!!”
Buzz!!
Kuro froze mid-motion, his body abruptly halted. An inexplicable pulling force radiated from both sides—the magnetic field strength from the walls rendered him completely immobile at the center.
“Magnetic field manipulation? Damn.”
Kuro’s eyes widened. “You’ve mastered this technique now?!”
“Slash!!”
Before his words finished echoing, the Ghost Cryblade descended, piercing straight through Kuro’s forehead.
Luo pressed his left hand against the hilt and thrust it forward. “Impact.”
Bang!!
A surge of electric sparks erupted from the hilt, surging along the blade to strike Kuro’s head.
“Wave!!!”
Kuro’s eyes turned bloodshot, his mouth instinctively opening as he spat a massive mouthful of blood.
“Nice work, Eustass Kid.”
Luo grinned. “Finally, my turn to finish this.”
“Magnetic Demon Bull!!”
But as Luo spoke, countless metal fragments in the sky coalesced into a massive metallic bull. Charged by the magnetic field, it barreled forward with earth-shattering force, slamming into Kuro’s body. His form rocketed downward like a cannonball, crashing into the ground.
Boom!!!
Thick smoke and dust billowed from the impact zone, obscuring the area.
“Kuro… Huh?!”
Lida started to shout but froze mid-step, her expression shifting to bewilderment.
Klah, having just exited combat, narrowed his eyes in disbelief. “How is this possible?!”
How could Kuro be bleeding?!
Even when facing combined attacks from Big Mom in the past, Kuro had always had countermeasures!
“I was just about to commend you, but you had to show off again,” Luo snapped at Eustass Kid. “After I release a technique, you go all out showing off, making it seem like the victory’s yours alone. Hey, I’m not your opening act!”
Eustass Kid shouted back, “You’re still hung up on this?! The priority now is to confirm the finishing blow! Besides, it was an Admiral!”
Luo scoffed. “I’ll settle this after we finish him off!”
“You scared of me?!”
Eustass Kid retorted, turning toward the smoke. As it cleared, a massive crater emerged. He smirked. “Confirmed severe injury. Even Big Mom’s body would’ve fractured from that impact. His physique isn’t nearly that durable.”
Others might not know, but those who’d fought Kuro repeatedly understood: back when Big Mom was near death, a single punch had broken Kuro’s bones. His physical resilience and raw destructive power were in entirely different leagues—expected for a swordsman, not a martial artist.
Combined with Luo’s blade and his own Magnetic Demon Bull’s impact, Kuro should’ve been finished.
“Heh, the Navy loses an Admiral—especially one who supposedly ended the Four Emperors Era. This’ll be a huge embarrassment for them.”
Eustass Kid licked his lips. “I love stuff like this! Hey, Navy, you’re next—don’t get impatient!”
“Give it a rest.”
Klah started charging forward but halted at Lida’s voice. She glared at Eustass Kid. “Don’t your Observation Haki tell you anything? Kuro’s life aura hasn’t changed at all.”
Her words made Luo’s eyes widen. He stared into the crater. First a head emerged, then the entire body, slowly ascending back into the sky.
Kuro’s face bore bloodstains, his chest dented from the impact, yet his expression remained calm.
Looking down at Luo and Eustass Kid, he said simply, “Good work.”
“You’ve gotta be kidding,” Luo muttered.
The bleeding from the blade wound in his head was already vanishing—the blood from his eyes, ears, and nose retracting. The chest indentation gradually corrected itself.
The Yokai Blade in his grip oozed blood qi, swirling like his Wu Sheng Kong Sha ribbons around his body.
Had he mitigated the damage? Partially, yes. Their attacks couldn’t have caused so little harm.
But more importantly—his body was healing itself!
A swordsman, a swordsman with the Float-Float Fruit, was regenerating?!
The Float-Float Fruit didn’t grant regeneration!
“Hey, feel this!”
Eustass Kid’s forehead dripped cold sweat. Luo activated Observation Haki, then recoiled sharply, his pupils shrinking to pinpricks.
“Hey, I just realized—Kuro, what’s going on with you?!”
Lida behind them wore a shocked expression. “Your aura—what’s happening?! How did it get so dense?!”
As a martial arts prodigy, she was especially attuned to physical energy. During combat, she’d assumed Kuro sustained minor injuries—normal in Grand Line battles. Luo, now a rising New Emperor, naturally had skill.
But when the blood qi surged, she sensed something wrong.
Kuro’s body radiated an aura terrifying in scale, carrying a familiar sensation—
It resembled…
Lida stared at the blood qi swirling around him, its shape faintly resembling a long, serpentine figure.
That creature—
Had horns, four claws, a serpentine body, and scales, its mist-like form flickering around him like a phantom.
And its aura…
Resembled Kaido’s!
No—like a dragon!!
