Chapter 1271: Trust in Him
Chapter 1271: Trust in Him
No one would take the tales within 'The Tales of Beedle the Bard' as fact.
If it weren't for Albert personally vouching for the truth behind "The Tale of the Three Brothers," Harry would never have believed such an outlandish story.
However, Harry trusted that Albert wouldn't deceive him, especially not under those circumstances; he wouldn't have joked about it.
The key takeaway from the story should be the three objects that belonged to Death.
The Elder Wand, the Resurrection Stone, and the Invisibility Cloak.
Harry possessed an Invisibility Cloak, though he couldn't be sure if it was the one from the story. Nonetheless, the cloak his father had left behind had been incredibly useful to them.
Thus, Harry didn't yearn for the story's cloak.
He craved the Resurrection Stone.
If he had the stone, he could ask Dumbledore in person instead of being plagued by a hated man's riddles and wracking his brains to extract answers from Albert.
Unfortunately, Harry didn't have the stone, nor could he seek Dumbledore's help. Now, they could only rely on themselves.
Harry had made up his mind. When he met with Albert, he would directly use the Felix Felicis to gain as much useful information as possible.
This decision would deplete their already scarce supply of Felix Felicis.
He regretted his previous careless overuse of the potion, but fretting over it now wouldn't help. He could only strive to make the most of what little potion they had left.
There was another matter that weighed on Harry's mind—where was the Elder Wand hidden?
This thought was like a burning ember in his head, and he had to take large doses of calming draughts to suppress it.
More clearly than anyone, Harry understood that he must remain calm at all times to be prepared for any potential troubles that lay ahead.
"Do you really plan to bring that up with Sirius now?"
Hermione looked at Harry anxiously, worried that things wouldn't go as smoothly as he hoped.
Without the Felix Felicis, it would be difficult for Harry to convince Sirius.
"Yeah, I can't put it off any longer."
After discovering that his previous attempt had failed, Harry knew it was time to take action.
"Hermione, you should trust Harry. He knows what he's doing," Ron said, covering a yawn with his hand.
"Of course, I trust Harry," Hermione snapped, shooting Ron a glare.
"Wait for my good news."
Harry pushed open the door and left the bedroom, heading for the living room.
At that moment, Lupin and Sirius were seated in armchairs, conversing in low voices.
"Is it your turn to keep watch tonight?" Harry greeted Lupin and Sirius.
"Still no rest for you?"
Lupin looked up, a bit surprised to see Harry still awake at this hour.
"Something on your mind?"
Sirius seemed to sense something and looked at Harry, who had seated himself across from them.
"Yeah, let's talk," Harry said, pouring himself some butterbeer.
"Then I'll head back to rest."
Realizing that Harry wanted to speak privately with Sirius, Lupin stood up to leave, giving them some space.
"No need," Harry said, shaking his head.
Lupin and Sirius exchanged glances before sitting back down.
"Is Bill's wedding being moved up?"
Harry's gaze fell on the parchment that Sirius was holding down with his hand.
"Yeah, Albert thinks it's best for Bill and Fleur to get married while the Ministry is still under control. That way, they can avoid potential trouble later on," Sirius explained to Harry.
"Can you contact Albert directly?"
Harry was surprised. Though Hermione had a way to reach Albert, the latter usually didn't reply unless it was something urgent.
"No, Fred mentioned it to Arthur the last time he was here. You were still training with Mad-Eye at the time, so you might not have known," Sirius said suddenly. "Oh, and Albert's child was born. Apparently, it's a beautiful girl."
"So, Albert's attention has been on his child lately?"
Harry had assumed Albert was off searching for the Elder Wand. It seemed he had guessed wrong from the start.
"I suppose so," Sirius said, looking puzzled. "Why do you ask?"
"Never mind," Harry said. "So, Bill and Fleur's wedding is coming up soon?"
"Probably within the week," Lupin said.
"And the location?" Harry asked. "Will they be holding the wedding here?"
Harry recalled that they had initially planned to help Lupin and Tonks have a simple wedding at headquarters.
"No, this place is too small. It won't accommodate all the friends and family of the Weasley and Delacour clans, nor is it suitable for a wedding venue," Sirius shook his head. "They plan to hold the wedding at the Burrow."
"Will there be many people attending Bill and Fleur's wedding?" Harry fell silent for a moment.
"What's on your mind?"
"I guess they'll definitely show up!" Harry said after a long pause. "Those Death Eaters probably won't miss this feast."
"Don't worry, we've made thorough preparations," Lupin reassured him quietly. "Plus, Albert will be there too. I think everything will be fine."
"I remember when Albert got married; he invited Dumbledore as well. They even used the Fidelius Charm to protect the wedding venue thoroughly.
Harry found it difficult to comprehend why people believed that those protective spells could keep the Death Eaters at bay. If they truly worked, Hogwarts wouldn't have had to shut down early and send all the students home.
"What are you trying to say, Harry?" Sirius asked.
"Don't be overly optimistic," Harry sighed, "As much as I hate to be a downer, the last person who held on to such hopes is already dead."
"You don't think much of this wedding, do you?"
Sirius knew what Harry was worried about, and he had previously suggested to Mr. Weasley that Bill and Fleur should marry in secret at the Order's headquarters.
However, he didn't feel he had the right to say much on the matter.
"Me, Hermione, Ron, Fred, and George—we're all targets of Voldemort and the Death Eaters. Fleur, Bill, and the entire Weasley family are also involved with the Order." Harry couldn't understand what Mr. and Mrs. Weasley were thinking, "If you knew the Death Eaters were gathering, what would you do?"
"We'd definitely find a way to take them all out." Sirius snorted, "They've done it before, and they'll do it again."
"Dumbledore is gone, and Albert holds no sway over Voldemort, at least not anymore." Harry shook his head, "In this war, survival is more important than anything else."
"We've never underestimated those bastards." Lupin said softly, "All members of the Order will be there, and Kingsley is trying to convince Scrimgeour to bring in the Aurors from the Ministry, just in case the Death Eaters show up."
Harry opened his mouth but found himself at a loss for words.
"What if Scrimgeour refuses?" Harry tapped his head with his thumb and forefinger, "Never mind, just be prepared for the worst."
"Don't worry, Harry." Lupin patted Harry's shoulder gently.
"Yeah, let's talk about something else." Harry ignored Lupin's attempt at reassurance, "I know you're curious about what we're planning to do."
Sirius gave Lupin a helpless look, as if to say: I told you he would know about our little scheme.
"It's a mission, a mission about Voldemort." Harry continued, "I think you've already guessed that much, but I can't tell you the specifics."
"Why not?" Sirius played along.
"Because it's not something that should be widely known. If someone accidentally leaks the information, not only will all of Dumbledore's efforts be in vain, but everyone will die. Not just the members of the Order, but the Weasley family too. Voldemort won't spare anyone, and I know him too well."
At that moment, both Sirius and Lupin regretted their actions.
They were intelligent enough to guess that this secret was related to killing Voldemort.
Perhaps Dumbledore had discovered why Voldemort couldn't be killed.
They should have stopped others from making such foolish mistakes from the start.
"I know you won't say anything, but there's Veritaserum and Legilimency in this world. Don't underestimate those bastards." Harry looked at the two men, feeling helpless, as he knew they had already guessed something from his words.
"To be honest, I shouldn't be telling you any of this, but I think if I didn't give you some hint, something bad might happen."
"Then why you three?"
Mrs. Weasley, clad in her pajamas, pushed the door open and entered, looking flustered but also...
"Because we're the least significant." Harry said softly, "Voldemort won't easily suspect us. After all, who would believe that three newly-fledged wizards could do anything? They'll just think we're running for our lives, trying to escape the Death Eaters."
"And Voldemort killed my family and ruined my life. Of course, I want revenge!" Harry's tone was calm, but Mrs. Weasley could hear the determination in his voice.
Harry looked at Mrs. Weasley and smiled, "I will eventually face Voldemort, that's part of the prophecy. So I'm not going to run away because it's pointless. The choice was never really mine."
"You do have a choice. You can hide like Albert." Mrs. Weasley wished Harry would do just that.
"Albert isn't hiding, he's gathering strength and biding his time." Harry corrected her, "He sees the future more clearly than anyone, and he knows what the best course of action is. That's why he's been reminding everyone, even if things don't always go as we hope."
"Don't worry." Harry reached out and gently hugged the flustered Mrs. Weasley, "Albert once said that we will defeat Voldemort and win the Second Wizarding War. But if we do nothing, victory won't just walk through the door. We have to work together for it."
"So, please believe in us, okay?"
