Chapter 127: Sky Magic
Chapter 127: Sky Magic
Another person slumped against the wall.
Wendy, still young and lacking in magical power, collapsed after using her healing magic once. She then stumbled back to the corner, dazed.
Gray, Rod, and Wendy sat in a row, a rather harmonious sight.
Rod pointed to the other side of Wendy and asked Sherry, "Do you want to sit over here too?"
Sherry looked at him as if he were an idiot. "Who would want to do that on purpose? And Wendy, I told you not to push yourself."
Wendy smiled happily; for her, being able to help others with her magic was a joy.
Dopdy's condition had stabilized. His breathing was steady, and some color had returned to his face.
Of course, the visible injuries still needed to be bandaged and allowed to heal naturally over time.
If he continued to pester Wendy for treatment over the next few days, he might recover without any scars. But he would certainly be chased away by Sherry with her broom.
At this stage, Sky Magic was still too much of a strain on Wendy.
"Is Sky Magic really that effective?" Rod thought about the Ember Crown, knowing it would take a long time to achieve the same results as Wendy's brief spell.
The side effects of the Ember Crown couldn't compare to professional healing magic.
Wendy said sheepishly, "My magic is too weak; I can't be as strong as Grandeeney."
Rod looked pained. "I completely empathize with not having enough magic power!"
Gray chuckled. "Yeah."
If Rod had been summoning, forcing doors to close, and using reception magic as recklessly as he had today, a normal summoner mage would have been out cold by now.
Oh, he was practically out cold now, but Gray thought that if there was any danger, Rod might still be able to summon a crab to carry him away.
Not having enough magic power? Pfft!
After resting for a while, Sherry, the only one with full mobility, helped Dopdy clean his wounds, apply medicine, and bandage them.
She even gave him some extra ointment for frostbite.
Gray had taken a direct hit from Zato's attack and was slightly injured, but thanks to his timely use of magic for defense, a bit of rest would be enough to heal him.
Sherry went to prepare some simple food, specifically cooking some porridge for Dopdy, before leading Wendy to rest.
Rod and Gray ate something and were about to wash up when they heard Dopdy cough.
"Cough, cough... Where are we?"
"This is the Regular Mage Guild, Cat's Home," Rod said, using the full name of the guild. He thought it would be more reassuring this way.
As someone with extensive experience in being unconscious, he immediately provided all the information Dopdy might need:
"The naked bandaged man has been dealt with. Many of your team members are injured, but you're the only one who almost died.
Captain Kaptin is fine. He's still in the mountains overseeing the prisoners. I don't know when they'll return, and it's not our concern.
You've been unconscious for about 7 or 8 hours. The mage here saved you, but she's very tired and resting now. You'll see her tomorrow.
Your team should arrive to pick you up tomorrow. If you have no other questions, come and have a bowl of porridge."
Gray helped Dopdy sit up, placing a pillow behind him, then brought the porridge and placed it in his hands.
"Huh? Ah." Dopdy held the still-warm bowl, a bit dazed.
He opened his mouth to ask about his teammates, but Rod had already covered that. He wanted to ask how long he had been unconscious, but that was covered too. He wanted to ask about Captain Kaptin...
After a few seconds, he seemed to process the information Rod had dumped on him—everyone was fine, the mission was completed, and everything was okay.
After a couple of delicious bowls of porridge, Daipudi suddenly realized, "Thank you all."
Rod waved his hand. "Don't mention it. Eat well and rest up. We can talk about everything else tomorrow."
That night, Rod had to share a sleeping mat with Gray.
Honestly, sleeping so close to a naked man was quite stressful. It was the same when they were in the tent; he didn't even take off his clothes at night.
The next morning, Rod woke Gray up and told him to get dressed to avoid any awkwardness when Wendy, the doctor, came to check on them.
This guy not only refused to wear clothes but also didn't cover himself properly with the blanket. It was quite a sight in the morning.
Daipudi seemed to be either still sleeping or pretending to be asleep due to embarrassment. Rod didn't disturb him and quietly tidied up the bedding before heading out to wash up.
...
"Was it this child who healed me? But she... she's so young..." Daipudi's face was full of shock. How could someone so young be so skilled in medicine?
Wendy, feeling a bit uncomfortable speaking to this stern-faced older man, explained, "It's because I can use Sky Magic."
Daipudi was even more surprised. "Sky Magic? Isn't that a Lost Magic? This child can actually use Sky Magic?"
Wendy lowered her head slightly, forcing a smile. "I know it's hard to believe..."
Shalulu, a bit irritated, said, "What are you talking about? Why would we lie to you? Don't look down on Wendy just because she's young."
"Sorry, sorry. It's just so astonishing," Daipudi replied. "Thank you for your care. I'll do my best to repay you."
Shalulu found this man to be quite troublesome; he was far more difficult to get along with than the people from Fairy Tail.
No, that wasn't right. This man was just reacting normally. It was the people from Fairy Tail who were too quick to trust Wendy, which was unusual.
But then again, Wendy was a child worth trusting.
Shalulu's expression was conflicted. She couldn't quite figure out who was the odd one out, but she knew for sure that the people from Fairy Tail were more comfortable to be around.
She looked at the two guys who had just returned from their morning workout. Maybe it was just that idiots were easier to get along with.
Shalulu looked at Gray. "Why did you lose a piece of clothing when you went out for a run?"
Rod looked embarrassed. "Sorry, I only managed to find him a pair of pants. I didn't notice when he lost his shirt."
Rod, who was usually so observant, had slipped up in front of Gray.
"..." Shalulu couldn't believe it. So, this guy had lost his shirt and was running around in just his pants?
Gray turned his head, stubbornly saying, "It's just a piece of clothing. It happens, right?"
Wendy covered her face. Mr. Gray was a good person, but his habits were just too, too...
Rod looked at Daipudi, who had a bandage on his head. "You can walk now?"
"Yes, just barely," Daipudi said gratefully. "Thanks to Miss Wendy's treatment and the help of both of you yesterday. Your assistance in every way has been invaluable."
"Speaking of which, you're from the Council, right? What were you doing here, and why did they bring you here with such serious injuries?" Shalulu had wanted to ask this question yesterday.
"Well... it was due to a battle with dark guild mages. But I apologize, due to Council regulations, I can't reveal any more details."
Daipudi added, "Please don't ask Mr. Rod or Mr. Gray about it either."
I see you're all making fun of the side characters' names:
- Captain, Keiptin, Captain (Captain)
- Deputy, Daipudi, Deputy (Deputy)
The author really struggles with names. It took days to come up with Rod, so what did you expect?
