Chapter 127: My Teacher is Not Human!
Chapter 127: My Teacher is Not Human!
Kyle frowned. To be honest, when it came to memory-related magic, he wasn't keen on having anyone else teach him, not even Dumbledore.
And it wasn't just him; many witches and wizards felt the same way, and Chrys should have been well aware of that.
But from Chrys's expression, he seemed to trust this person immensely.
Kyle hesitated, not wanting to refuse outright. He decided to see what this was all about first.
If he felt uncomfortable later on, he could always make up an excuse and leave.
After discussing, Chrys had intended to wait until after Kyle's birthday to introduce him to his teacher. However, Kyle didn't want to wait.
There would be a birthday every year, so missing this year's wasn't a big deal. Moreover, he was curious about this so-called Occlumency teacher and wanted to confirm their identity as soon as possible.
If he felt it wasn't a good fit, he could start looking for alternative solutions sooner.
Since Kyle insisted, Chrys naturally had no objections.
The two of them arrived at an empty space outside the room, and Chrys extended his arm, saying, "We can just Apparate directly there. Grab my arm."
Kyle took a deep breath and grabbed the proffered arm.
"Then, let's go!"
With a loud crack, the pair disappeared from their original spot.
When Kyle opened his eyes again, he found himself in front of a wooden cottage with a red roof.
The cottage was cozy and immaculately clean, surrounded by a low fence, and an elderly couple stood there, beaming at them.
"Grandpa Newt?"
"Grandma Tina?"
Kyle looked at the couple in surprise. He hadn't expected Chrys's teacher to be Newt and Tina. But if it were them, he had no objections.
"Little Kyle, aren't you here to learn Occlumency? What are you dawdling for? Come on in."
Tina pinched Kyle's cheek affectionately and led him into the room, offering him an array of biscuits and homemade mini-bread rolls.
Kyle sighed inwardly. Even though he had just finished breakfast, he still ate quite a bit, stuffing his mouth until it was full.
Only when he truly couldn't eat another bite did he rub his stomach and ask, "Grandma Tina, are you the one teaching me?"
Among the people in this room, Tina was probably the most skilled in Occlumency.
After all, her sister, Queenie, was a natural Legilimens, so Tina had to be adept at Occlumency to keep any secrets from her sister.
Tina shook her head with a laugh. "I'll only teach you the basic theory. What happens afterward is not up to me."
"Not you?" Kyle paused, confused, and turned to look at Newt.
"Not me, either, lad," Newt said as he placed an open box on the ground. "Come with me, and I'll take you to meet... it."
Umm...
Upon seeing the box, Kyle had a bad feeling about this.
But Newt had already walked ahead, and he had no choice but to follow.
The box's interior was spacious, surprisingly so, resembling a real forest with lush trees, several full-sized rivers, and lakes.
Newt led the way, bringing Kyle to a vacant spot by the lakeside.
After their arrival, an elegant cat-like creature with leopard-like spots approached them, as if it had been waiting for them.
Its bright blue eyes fixed on Newt and Kyle as it lowered its head slightly.
Chrys walked over and slapped him on the shoulder. "So, how do you like the teacher I found for you?"
"You mean my teacher is really this cat-leopard, Nadari?"
"That's right," Chrys confirmed. "If you want to master Occlumency quickly, you need sufficient pressure to evoke strong emotions from deep within you. So, we discussed and unanimously decided to let Nadari be your teacher, and she agreed."
"Once you've learned the basic theory, we'll bring you here. She will then launch an attack, and your task is to try not to get beaten too badly."
"If you can withstand her for five minutes, it proves that your Occlumency has succeeded."
"Wait... five minutes?" Kyle interrupted, incredulous. "But it's a cat-leopard! Even if I learn Occlumency, I won't be a match for it, will I?"
Cat-leopards, with their six legs, were among the fastest magical creatures, and frankly, if it wanted to beat him up, it wouldn't even need Legilimency; that would be overkill.
"Rest assured," Newt consoled him. "Nadari is very smart; she knows what to do."
"But..."
Before Kyle could say more, the cat-leopard, Nadari, rubbed against his face.
"Meow..."
"Of course, I trust you," Kyle said, scratching her chin. "I just feel that this method is a bit unreliable..."
"On the contrary, I think it's the most appropriate method." Chrys said seriously. "If it were us teaching you, we'd also have to use Legilimency to create pressure, and that's no different from facing a cat-leopard.
But the difference is that a cat-leopard can practice with you anytime, anywhere, which we can't do.
Also, she won't expose the little secrets in your head."
Kyle thought about it and suddenly felt that Chrys's words made sense.
Being subjected to Legilimency didn't feel good, but if it was a cat-leopard, it was much easier to accept.
"Okay, I agree," Kyle nodded.
The cat-leopard purred in satisfaction and then raised its front leg, giving Kyle's butt a standard positive kick.
"Whoosh!"
Without surprise, Kyle spun and flew into the nearby lake.
Chrys and Newt, who were standing by, were startled but soon realized what had happened.
"Looks like we don't need to teach him the basic theory," Newt said with a laugh. "I'm going to see Arnett. She just gave birth to a litter of Sniffers, and her body is still weak.
What about you? Are you heading back to the Ministry?"
Chrys shook his head. "I'll come with you. I'm on vacation today."
Newt nodded and walked towards another area.
As Chrys followed, he suddenly stopped after a few steps and turned back, shouting, "Remember, no spells!"
A hand emerged from the lake and waved at him.
