Chapter 127: Going All the Way
Chapter 127: Going All the Way
"Move Tutor Disk secured!"
After the match, Jing He high-fived Gengar and Weavile.
Their initial goal was to make it to the top eight and secure the Move Tutor Disk as a reward. Now that they had achieved this, the pressure was off for the rest of the tournament.
Moreover, the move library at Kanaz Pokemon Academy was quite extensive. The only question was whether the Move Tutor Disk they received would have any restrictions on the moves it could teach.
Moves like Swords Dance or Hyper Beam were incredibly rare and almost impossible to find outside of official Move Tutor Disks. If they could get one of these, it would be a huge win.
Back in the audience stands, Bosssititar almost cried when it saw Jing He return.
Carefully placing Little Blacksmith on the ground, it transformed into a red light and returned to its Poke Ball on Daigo’s belt.
Jing He was puzzled, looking at Little Blacksmith.
"Chirp~"
Little Blacksmith tilted its head, blinking innocently.
Finally, Jing He turned to Daigo.
But Daigo smiled warmly and said, "Little Blacksmith helped Bosssititar identify its weaknesses."
Weaknesses?
Dove and Sasha gave him a hint, and his gaze fell on Little Blacksmith’s hands.
There, it was holding a piece of dark gray metal.
Jing He: "???"
He looked at Little Blacksmith in disbelief.
Did you pry off Bosssititar’s metal armor?!
Seeing the situation, Little Blacksmith quickly hid the metal piece behind its back, pouted, and looked up at the sky at a 45-degree angle, whistling silently.
"Chirp (ε`)"
I told you that piece of metal wasn't very secure. It came right off with a little tug.
A vein popped on Jing He’s forehead.
Then, Daigo said, "Don’t blame it, teacher. Bosssititar and I should be thanking it."
Huh?
"Bosssititar sheds old, weakened metal plates when it eats too much metal. The new plates that grow back are stronger and more durable."
"The spot Little Blacksmith found was something Bosssititar and I had overlooked."
He smiled at Little Blacksmith, who could identify weaknesses in metal and even repair them.
Jing He had always thought Little Blacksmith lacked this ability. Every time it tried to fix something, it ended up in pieces.
So, this repair ability is only for other Pokemon?
"Maybe I should ask it to check out Armaldo too," Daigo added.
Little Blacksmith’s eyes sparkled with excitement.
Metal, armor, and a bird—check!
Jing He quickly picked up the little guy.
Daigo, you’re really daring.
If this little guy starts working on Armaldo, it might end up as a featherless bird in no time!
Little Blacksmith put its hands on its hips and raised an eyebrow at Jing He.
"Chirp?"
Am I cool or what?
Jing He’s eye twitched.
You’re way too cool for your own good!
At the Kanaz Pokemon Academy’s Academic Affairs Office, Dean Minjiang looked at the list of mentors who had advanced to the top eight, a bit surprised.
"Psychology mentor Jing He?"
Every year, many mentors from other departments signed up for the battle mentor evaluations. For battle mentors, it was an evaluation, but for others, it was a bonus.
Even if they didn’t make it far, just passing one round could earn them extra points for future promotions.
This was why so many non-battle mentors signed up.
However, it was rare for non-battle mentors to make it to the top eight, indicating that this person had the strength to be a battle mentor.
While they might not be suitable as advisors, they could certainly handle a subject.
Dean Minjiang, who had some knowledge of Jing He, smiled.
"Perhaps we can be a bit more generous with the ‘perks’."
The academy was always willing to support well-rounded mentors, especially those with a bit of online fame, as it helped with recruitment.
"If they can make it to the top four..."
Dean Minjiang shook his head.
The top four was quite challenging. In his opinion, Jing He was already outstanding and might even qualify for the "Outstanding Teacher" award this year.
Back at home, Jing He called out, "Come out, Nidorina."
"Nido."
Nidorina rubbed her eyes and stretched lazily. This nap had been so comfortable.
She couldn’t remember the last time she had slept so well. In her dream, she had forgotten all her worries and troubles, floating in a peaceful, serene world.
It felt so good, so relaxing, that she was a bit reluctant to wake up.
But now, she felt better than ever, except for one thing...
She was a little hungry.
Suddenly, a delicious aroma wafted into her nose.
"Nido?"
She looked up curiously and saw Jing He holding a bowl of freshly baked, still slightly steaming energy cubes.
"Want to eat?"
"Ooh~"
They’re really good.
Little Weavile popped an energy cube into its mouth, cheeks puffing out as it mumbled.
Rewritten Text
“Hah!”
Gastly hung upside down from the ceiling, chewing loudly and waving at Nidoqueen.
Little Steelix, however, paid little attention to Nidoqueen. His focus was on the metal chunk he had just pried off Beldum’s body.
He pondered how to forge this metal, which was even more impressive than the rare metals Jing He had purchased last time.
After a quick glance around, Nidoqueen’s gaze finally settled on Jing He.
For some reason, she didn’t seem to dislike him as much anymore.
But she wasn’t about to accept food from a male so easily!
“Nido! Oh Joy!”
Nidoqueen turned her head away.
Jing He chuckled, not pushing the matter, and placed the energy cube in front of her. “Alright, I’ll make some more energy cubes with different flavors.”
A moment later, Jing He faintly heard the sound of chewing, “munch munch.”
He waited a bit longer before casually walking past Nidoqueen again.
“Nido?”
Nidoqueen abruptly looked up, her mouth puffed out, her face a mix of surprise and confusion, especially with the energy cube residue on her lips.
She seemed to want to explain something, but almost spat out the unswallowed cube. She quickly closed her mouth.
Swallowing hard, under Jing He’s amused gaze, she gulped it down.
“Nido Nido! Threat Warning!”
Look again, and I’ll gouge out your eyes!
But she had little effect on Jing He now.
He laughed. “So you’re a tsundere, huh?”
“Hah~~ Tease Me!”
Gastly clutched his stomach and rolled around on the ceiling.
Nidoqueen’s face flushed red.
“Annoyed and flustered,” she stood up and roared at Gastly.
“Nido!”
She swung her fist at Gastly.
But Gastly simply phased into the ceiling.
Reappearing at another spot, he taunted, “Hah Hah! Missed Me!”
“Nido!”
Nidoqueen’s face darkened.
A thin layer of frost covered her fist as she swung again.
Frost Punch!
Seeing this, Gastly’s expression changed.
He swung his claw, surrounded by wisps of dark mist.
Shadow Punch!
The white and black fists collided in the room.
Bang!
In a direct confrontation, Gastly was no match.
His fist flew back, now covered in frost.
“Hah”
But Gastly didn’t seem to feel much pain or defeat. Instead, he appeared thoughtful.
Frost Punch.
Nidoqueen proudly lifted her head, exhaling two streams of white breath.
“Nido?”
Are you convinced?
She acted tough, but from the result with Gastly, she had clearly held back, not using her full strength.
Gastly shook his claw.
The frost gradually melted away.
He grinned at Nidoqueen, his long red tongue licking his lips.
“Hah! Come Again!”
“Nido!”
Nidoqueen’s eyes flashed with determination.
But before she could act, Jing He said, “Stop!”
Nidoqueen looked unconvinced but obediently stopped.
Gastly playfully stuck out his tongue again.
“Fight outside, find a place where no one will be disturbed.”
The little ones, including Nidoqueen, looked at him in surprise.
Jing He didn’t elaborate, just subtly gestured to Gastly.
Understanding him, Gastly instantly got the message.
He put on a pair of sunglasses and waved at Nidoqueen.
“Hah~~ Let’s Go!”
Then, Gastly led Nidoqueen out.
“Ooh, ooh?”
After they left, Glaceon couldn’t help but speak up.
Is it, is it okay?
“It’s fine.”
Gastly might not be able to beat Nidoqueen, but avoiding her was easy.
Moreover, after yesterday’s “Dreamy” treatment, Nidoqueen’s mood and friendliness had improved significantly.
She was just being a bit tsundere.
Jing He even suspected that her heartbreak was probably due to her tsundere nature.
After all, most Pokemon’s thinking is quite straightforward.
“Distracting her will also help her recover.”
He patted Glaceon and Steelix on the head.
Looking at their puzzled expressions, he said, “What are you waiting for? Follow them. It’s not easy to find such a powerful sparring partner.”
Using Team Rocket’s Pokemon as sparring partners, Jing He thought, must be unique in the entire Pokemon world.
Glaceon and Steelix immediately understood.
They hurriedly followed.
Jing He was about to say, “Follow and learn more.”
With Nidoqueen’s extensive move set, there’s bound to be something useful for you.
But then he thought,
Given Gastly’s character, do they really need me to remind them?
Those three together, when they let loose,
they could dig up anything from a desert.
Even a flying bird would leave a trail of feathers.
Instead of worrying if they’ll learn anything, it’s more important to consider what Nidoqueen will look like after being “plucked.”
Previously, he “plucked” Beldum, now he’s “plucking” Nidoqueen.
Jing He sighed lightly.
“This is really taking ‘plucking’ to the next level.”
