Chapter 1268: Your Luck Isn't So Good, Law
Chapter 1268: Your Luck Isn't So Good, Law
New World.
A certain island situated at the crossroads between the former Big Mom and Shanks territories has become the primary base of Trafalgar Law, one of the Worst Generation's new Four Emperors.
This island boasts remarkably advanced healthcare technology, with hospitals dotting its landscape. Residents here need not fear death from disease—within just a year, its reputation as a medical haven has rivaled that of the former Drum Kingdom, now known as the Cherry Blossom Kingdom.
"Mr. Law! Mr. Law!"
Inside a fortress-like structure resembling a hospital, a burly man wearing a doctor's long robe and dual blades strapped to his back burst into a room, shouting urgently, "Intelligence from Newport Port—Eustass Kid's fleet has attacked Newport Port!"
In the room, a man wearing a speckled winter cap stood with his back to the newcomer, his hands moving deftly over a patient on the operating table. At the outburst, he remained silent. Bepo, standing nearby, quickly raised his plump paw to his mouth, signaling for quiet.
The burly man noticed the ongoing surgery and clamped his mouth shut, too nervous to speak further.
After a while, the cap-wearing man set down his bloodstained scalpel and said flatly, "Prepare suturing. The procedure is nearly complete."
At his command, nearby doctors rushed forward to begin stitching the patient's wounds.
Law glanced at the man, removed his surgical gloves, and walked out of the room, finally asking, "What's the situation? Why is Eustass Kid attacking Newport Port?"
"We don't know. They launched a sudden assault. Intelligence suggests Killer the Onslaught led the attack personally!"
"Hmph. That damned Eustass Kid always picking fights. Is it about overlapping territories? I won't back down—Navy is already at war with us all. Whoever controls more territory holds the advantage."
Law's eyes narrowed. "You go. Reclaim the territory."
"Understood. I'll leave immediately."
Boom!!
Before the man could finish speaking, a violent tremor shook the room, followed by a deafening explosion that sent shockwaves rippling through the building.
"What's happening?!" the man exclaimed. "Did Eustass Kid come here?!"
"That's impossible", Law said coolly. "If he were here, we'd already know. Go check it out. Besides..." He paused, a faint smirk forming. "I haven't had a proper fight in a while."
With that, he led the group outside the fortress.
Outside, nothing seemed amiss. No enemy ships approached the port, and no foes were visible. His subordinates stood bewildered, staring at a massive smoking crater nearby—its depth so profound it seemed to swallow light itself.
Who did this?
Law frowned. Could it really be Eustass Kid?
As he pondered, a colossal shadow suddenly blotted out the sun above him. Instinctively looking up, his pupils contracted. In the sky, an enormous shadow eclipsed the sun, casting a vast darkness over the land.
The shadow shimmered with golden light. Before Law could react, the object plummeted earthward.
"Move aside! Room!!"
Law roared, thrusting his palm forward. A transparent energy dome erupted from his hand, enveloping him and his crew. With a flash, they teleported aside just as the massive object crashed into the crater.
Boom!!
A cloud of smoke and dust erupted, obscuring the object's form.
Law's eyes locked onto the swirling haze, his expression darkening as his instincts screamed danger. He took an involuntary step back, his face twisting into a scowl. "This can't be serious! What the hell are you doing here?!"
As the smoke cleared, golden light spilled forth. The radiance revealed a gigantic golden warship, its hull bristling with fortress-like clusters. The prow bore a monstrous sculpture—a hybrid of dragon, lion, and goat, its golden visage gleaming.
"This ship..."
The dual-bladed man's eyes widened. "It's the Golden Lion! The Admiral's flagship!"
As if on cue, staircases extended from the warship's sides. Navy soldiers poured down, rifles slung and blades drawn, quickly forming battle lines. From the prow's gaping mouth, another staircase unfurled. At its top stood several figures.
Sazil cracked his fists and strode forward. Beside him, Fen Ni swayed her slender waist with a sultry grin.
Behind them, Ju Geng slung his massive bow with calm precision, while Moer yawned lazily, hands behind his neck.
As the four descended, Klah followed in a flowing black dress uniform and navy hooded cloak, his gait swaying. Behind him, Lida bounced down the stairs, licking a lollipop.
'Scattering Fist' Sazil!
'Witch' Fen Ni!
'Bow Priestess' Ju Geng!
'Flash' Moer!
'Black Wolf' Klah!
'White Whale' Lida!
"It's White Butterfly!!" Lida shouted at Law, her eyes blazing. "Don't think I can't hear you muttering in your head!!"
Law's lips twitched. These weren't just renowned Navy officers—they were the elite. Their presence here meant...
His gaze lifted to the staircase's top, where a figure emerged from the swirling smoke.
A white hooded cloak billowed in the wind, revealing golden armor beneath. As the smoke parted, the figure stepped forward—a sharp, handsome face framed by signature disheveled hair.
The smoke cleared completely. The man bit down on a cigar, smirking at Law. "Long time no see, Law."
"Kuro!" Law growled, teeth clenched. "Why are you here?!"
This man—Lucius Kro, the Navy's new 'Hero' succeeding Garp, the man who ended the Four Emperors Era. Admiral Golden Lion.
"Why am I here?" Kuro chuckled, exhaling a plume of smoke. "I picked one of you four at random. Looks like your luck just ran out."
"What the hell does that mean?!" Law snapped.
"Simple", Kuro said, his voice darkening. "You're dying here today, Law."
Law's face contorted with rage. He never expected someone to brazenly attack his base like this!
Wasn't the Navy supposed to be launching a full-scale invasion of the New World? Why strike directly at his stronghold?
"You underestimate me, Kuro!" Law snarled, drawing a deep breath. "I might've lost to you a year ago, but now—"
