Chapter 1266: Whatever It Lands On, That's the One
Chapter 1266: Whatever It Lands On, That’s the One
The World Government hadn’t officially announced the declaration of war, but the Grand Line was already bracing itself for battle.
The first to feel the impact were the Four Seas and the Grand Line’s First Half. Pirates who had once sailed leisurely were now in a frenzy, scrambling to storm into the New World or wreak havoc through plunder along the Grand Line’s fringes.
No declaration didn’t mean no awareness. Sometimes, the moment a decision was made, the ripples had already begun.
Especially in the Grand Line’s First Half, elite pirates who had dared to enter this “Legendary Navigational Route” were far more unruly than their Four Seas counterparts. Whether true or false, the news of war declarations circulating along the Grand Line had become a carnival for them.
In an instant, the first half of the Grand Line descended into chaos.
At this point, even if they wanted to rein it in, there was no stopping it.
Sakazuki wanted to handle the chaos in the First Half first, but the elite forces had already assembled. The World Government issued its command: advance into the New World immediately.
As for the Grand Line’s chaos, the Stationed Navy would handle it.
Sakazuki then gathered the elite forces—including himself and the Admirals and Vegapunks currently deployable—and plunged like a spear into the New World.
The war had officially begun, and no one could halt its momentum.
Meanwhile, at Wano Country’s Stealth Port, waves of Navy troops boarded the golden warships anchored there.
“Move faster!” Sazil barked orders as Navy personnel rushed past him.
Further ahead, Kuro, wrapped in a Navy hooded cloak and biting down on a cigar, conversed with Kuzan.
“I’m leaving this place in your hands. No issues, right?”
“Ahh, well, I’d say there are plenty of issues.”
“Cut the sarcasm. Just keep an eye on the Rabbit Onsen prisoners. Eliminate them if necessary.”
“You’re really throwing yourself into this. Getting serious, Kuro?” Kuzan replied meaningfully.
Kuro rolled his eyes. “After this job, the Old Man’ll finally give up and retire!”
With that, he bid Kuzan farewell, entrusting Wano Country’s defense to him.
Though no longer officially Navy, Kuro still held a position in Wano Country. While he hadn’t taken it seriously, out of old camaraderie, asking him to guard it was no problem at all.
Biting his cigar, Kuro was the last to board the golden warship at the dock.
On the deck, Lida and Klah flanked him, with rows of armed Navy troops behind. The white uniforms contrasted sharply with the golden hull, adding a solemn air.
“Shogun! Shogun’s Prosperity!”
The citizens gathered at the dock suddenly shouted, their voices rising in unison.
“Shogun! Shogun’s Prosperity!!”
They gazed up at the Shogun who had brought stability to Wano Country, their eyes filled with reverence and devotion. After chanting the phrase together, they knelt in unison, bowing deeply as the ships departed through the Stealth Port.
“These people…” Kuro groaned, scratching his head. “Why’s it still like this? Didn’t we tell them to stop?”
“Mr. Kuro, this is the people’s love for you. Mr. Wilbur already tried overhauling it before. Other customs have improved, but when it comes to you, they remain unchanged,” Klah replied honestly.
A year ago, they’d tried to eradicate Wano Country’s ingrained hierarchy to prevent its people from being manipulated by higher-status figures abroad. While the rest had gradually learned equality, their reverence for Kuro had only deepened.
No matter how many times Kuro scolded them, the change was negligible.
“Forget it. We’ll deal with it later.”
The Golden Lion began descending from its position, gradually obscuring Kuro’s body until the mechanical submersion swallowed his head. A grimace crossed his face.
“Time to go kill some pirates.”
From the G-3 Base, the Wano Country Navy set sail.
The massive golden warships emerged from the cascading waterfall, cruising steadily toward the Grand Line.
Inside the Golden Lion’s central fortress, Kuro sat at the command table.
Klah spread the Sea Chart across the table. “Mr. Kuro, the current distribution of the ‘Worst Generation’ is as follows: Blackbeard still occupies Beehive Island. Eustass Kid and Law have divided most of Kaido and Big Mom’s territories, including parts of Luffy’s domain. However, Shanks’ influence overlaps heavily with theirs. Though there have been minor conflicts over these overlapping zones, nothing major.”
He looked up. “Mr. Kuro, who should we target first?”
“Target who?”
Kuro stared at the Sea Chart, where four colors marked the rival territories. He turned to Lida. “Lida, finish your lollipop already.”
“Huh?”
Lida clenched his teeth, crunching the candy into pieces before discarding the stick. “Done.”
“Use that stick to throw. Aim properly. Whatever it lands on, that’s the one.”
“Okay.”
Lida tossed the stick casually. It landed squarely on one color.
…
At the Heart Pirates’ jungle base, a white bear in an orange uniform waddled toward the largest tent, balancing on tiptoes.
Inside, a figure sat wearing a fuzzy-spotted winter hat, a casual long-sleeve shirt, and a brown cloak with orange patterns.
“What is it, Bepo?” Trafalgar Law asked, nudging his hat brim with the hilt of his Ghost Cry blade to reveal his eyes.
“The World Government declared war! They’re at war with all pirates!” Bepo panicked, waving a newspaper. “This is huge!”
“I know. We expected this,” Law replied, skimming the paper before smirking. “How bold of them to declare us ‘new Four Emperors’ irrelevant. Their statement about ‘eliminating all pirates in the Grand Line’ is pure fantasy.”
“But aren’t you worried, Law?” Bepo asked.
“No need. The Navy can’t reach us here. Once they commit, they’ll be ambushed by countless pirates, dragging them into a prolonged war. Not our problem.”
“But…” Bepo hesitated. “Does ‘all Navy’ include that guy in Wano Country?”
Law froze.
Right. That existence had lingered in Wano Country all along. So buried in their territorial squabbles, they’d nearly forgotten the Colossus.
…
On the Golden Lion, Klah observed the lollipop stick. “So we’re targeting him first, Mr. Kuro?”
Kuro glanced at the Sea Chart, a smirk tugging his lips. “Ah, an old acquaintance. I hope he understands the rules.”
