Chapter 126: This Store is Truly Pitiful! [Additional Chapter 210 for Patron Phantom Feather]
Thinking about this, Delius hesitated for a moment before speaking up.
"I think your Protective ring will definitely be a hit with the Ministry's enforcers. The Protective Gloves will also be very popular. Perhaps the Ministry might even buy them in bulk!"
Ivan was naturally overjoyed, expressing his gratitude profusely. He had been preparing for so long, and this was exactly what he had been waiting for!
Delius generously waved off his thanks, while Ellison and Sunny also chimed in, promising to help promote the items within the Ministry.
"By the way, Captain Delius, did you specifically come here to buy things because you heard about this place?" Ivan asked, feigning casualness.
The three Aurors exchanged awkward glances, unsure of how to respond. Finally, Sunny, with a hint of anger, said:
"We received a task from the Ministry. Someone reported that you were selling a large number of dangerous Dark Magic Items here. I don't know which idiot made the false report."
Delius gave Sunny an exasperated look. How could you just blurt out the Ministry's task like that?
"Sunny, have you heard if the Ministry is inspecting other shops in Knockturn Alley?" Ivan asked after a moment's thought.
"Seems not", Sunny hesitated.
Delius and Ellison also sensed something amiss. If the Ministry was truly planning to investigate Dark Magic Items in Knockturn Alley, they would not have just targeted this one store.
There were three known Dark Magic shops in the entire Knockturn Alley. Besides this one, Borgin and Burkes and the Goblin Shop had both been reported before, yet the Ministry had taken no action, acting as if they had not even noticed.
So to say there was no ulterior motive, they simply did not believe it.
"It must be those Dark Wizards trying to get back at you!" Sunny said angrily.
Ellison nodded, his face showing a mix of indignation.
Delius remained silent. He could imagine that the woman who ran this magic shop must have been a victim of Dark Magic in her youth, which was why, despite her poverty, she had persisted in her research in Knockturn Alley.
Only recently had she achieved some success and was preparing to sell her creations, but now she was being deliberately targeted by other Dark Wizards. This was truly a tragic situation.
Seeing this, Ivan decided to press on and try to elicit more information. However, at that moment, Aisia's distinctive, silky voice echoed through the shop.
"Three Aurors, could you please find out for us who is deliberately targeting us? It would help us take precautions."
Delius and the others were drawn to the sound and turned to see Aisia, dressed in a dark green wizard's robe, emerging from the side of the shop.
Ivan noticed that Aisia seemed different from usual. She had taken off several rings, her long hair was casually draped over her shoulders, and a black, furry ball-like creature perched on her shoulder.
Was she hiding something? Ivan wondered about the reason for Aisia's late appearance.
Humans are visual creatures, and Aisia's exquisite features had won the favor of the three Aurors almost immediately upon their first meeting.
Combined with the story Ivan had fabricated on the spot, it only increased their sympathy for Aisia.
"Rest assured, we will definitely help investigate", Delius promised, thumping his chest.
Sunny and Ellison also assured her that they would rally their friends to help once they returned to the Ministry.
Aisia smiled, her tone gentle as she expressed her gratitude.
However, she subtly glanced at Ivan. She had only just arrived and heard only part of the conversation, so she was genuinely curious about how this young man had managed to win over these three Aurors in such a short time.
Although Aisia didn’t understand the full context, she quickly grasped the temporary identity Ivan had crafted for her. Consequently, she not only avoided any slip-ups during their conversation but also used this identity to gain a lot of favor. Before long, the new female Auror, Sunny, was calling her "sister" with every word.
“Aisia sister, what is this? Is it a Puffpuff? It doesn’t quite look like one, but it’s so cute!” After getting to know each other a bit, Sunny finally asked about the adorable, fuzzy ball on Aisia’s shoulder.
After Aisia’s modifications, the fur had turned a gray-black color, and it had a pair of large, watery eyes that were impossibly large for any normal creature, making it look even cuter.
Under Sunny’s gaze, the creature bounced on Aisia’s shoulder, looking incredibly adorable and melting hearts.
“This is a magical creature based on the Puffpuff, created through alchemy. The price is...” Aisia explained to Sunny, then turned to Ivan when it came to the item’s price.
“The original version costs just one Galleon!” Ivan said.
“So cheap! Can I buy one?” Sunny was immediately smitten. Since it wasn’t expensive, she wanted one to wear by her side.
“Of course, no problem. However, you’ll need to wait a day or two. The shop only has this one custom-made version as a sample right now,” Aisia smiled and nodded.
Sunny could wait a day or two, but she insisted on touching this alchemical Puffpuff. After hesitating for a moment, Aisia agreed but warned Sunny that this Puffpuff was very fragile and shouldn’t be infused with magic.
Ivan found this a bit strange. As an alchemical creature, it relied on magic to function and shouldn’t break down because of it. However, seeing that Aisia had already won over one Auror and was persuading her to buy, Ivan didn’t think much of it and focused his attention on the other two Aurors, Delius and Ellison.
“Captain Delius, besides the Protective ring, do you need anything else?” Ivan asked.
“Nah, not really,” Delius hesitated for a moment but then shook his head. His money had already been drained by the ring, and even if he wanted to buy more, he couldn’t afford it.
“Are you sure?” Ivan pointed to two ear-shaped magical items on the other side and began to introduce them.
“This is an Extendable Ear. As long as you hold one end, you can hear the sound from the other end. The best part is that it has no magical signature, making it undetectable. It should be very useful for gathering intelligence. Right now, it’s on sale for less than one Galleon and sixteen Sickles!”
Originally determined not to buy anything else, Delius was once again tempted. It did seem quite cheap.
