Chapter 126: Rising Killing Intent
Chapter 126: Rising Killing Intent
Upon hearing the Queen of Qi, the children cheered quietly before beginning to eat.
The fish noodles were already served and placed before each of their young masters.
The fish noodles, with their fresh, smooth, tender, and delicious qualities, now emanated a faint, alluring aroma.
While not overly enticing, they still compelled one to glance down frequently.
The grilled suckling pig slices and the stir-fried mutton, both of which should have been more alluring, somehow failed to capture everyone's attention entirely.
Despite their best efforts to focus on the tempting meat dishes, their gazes would inevitably drift back to the fish noodles just inches away.
Feng Xuanrui felt that he should probably hold off on the meat for now. There was an urge to taste the noodles first, a feeling that something was tugging at his heart if he didn't.
So, noodles first!
Feng Xuanrui bowed his head and began to eat heartily yet elegantly.
Su Su was also eating the fish noodles at this moment. Having never tasted them before, she was curious about their flavor.
She had assumed that fish noodles were just ordinary noodles.
However, upon tasting them, she discovered that they carried a fresh, fragrant flavor unique to fish. Combined with the soup, the noodles slid down her throat smoothly and deliciously.
How should she describe it?
After each mouthful, she found herself craving more.
Su Su, with a blissful smile, swallowed the fish noodles in her mouth and turned to whisper to the Queen of Qi, "Mother, this is delicious."
The Queen of Qi was in no hurry to eat. She had been observing the little girl's reaction.
Seeing Su Su's bright eyes and hearing her compliment, the Queen of Qi smiled and nodded, "Then have some more. That way, you'll grow taller. But don't overeat, there's also roasted plum meat and stir-fried mutton, which are equally tasty."
To be honest, these rich and meaty dishes were not the Queen of Qi's favorites.
However, as she spoke, she couldn't help but salivate a little.
She gestured for Haitang to pick a piece for her, but as soon as she took a bite, she experienced that greasy feeling that she didn't particularly enjoy.
In fact, the head chef's skills were not lacking. It was just that the Queen of Qi had grown accustomed to lighter and more delicate flavors.
Suddenly having something heavily greasy was truly unbearable for her.
A piece of roasted plum meat, exuding a rich aroma, ended up being taken only a single bite by the Queen of Qi.
While the flavor was fragrant, she just couldn't get used to it, so she decided not to force herself and left it on the plate.
After hearing the Queen's words, Su Su nodded obediently.
When her aunt served her a piece of plum meat, she ate it heartily.
The plum meat, soft and tender, with a fresh, fragrant flavor, was truly delicious! The head chef had seasoned it well, and the meat had been marinated for a sufficient time. As a result, the plum meat was flavorful and satisfying, leaving a lingering taste that would unexpectedly pop up in one's memory.
Su Su's lively eyes sparkled even more, and her little feet under the table couldn't help but lift up in excitement.
Delicious!
The plum meat was so good!
Seeing the girl's enjoyment, Aunt Xiang glanced at the Queen and, seeing no objection, served Su Su a piece of marbled meat.
Marbled meat had a slightly greasy feel to it, and while some people liked it, others didn't.
Aunt Xiang wasn't sure which category Su Su fell into, so she could only try offering it and observe the girl's reaction to determine her preferences and cater to them in the future.
Su Su, of course, was not picky.
Eating meat was something unimaginable for Su Su in her previous life.
Even with her uncle's family, it was only during the holidays that they would slice off a tiny portion for everyone to satisfy their cravings.
If Su Su even dared to take a whiff, her aunt would beat her with the fire poker.
There were scars on her arms from where her aunt had poked her with the fire poker when it was still red-hot.
Her current life was too happy, to the extent that Su Su had slowly begun to forget those painful memories.
On the rare occasions when she did remember, it would still send shivers down her spine.
The trauma of those days may have been in the past, but it still left a shadow on Su Su's heart.
Even years later, the unintentional memory would bring forth an innate fear from the depths of her being.
Su Su didn't want to worry her mother and brothers, so she tried her best to hide her emotions.
However, how could a little child possibly understand how to conceal such feelings?
The Queen of Qi, being the closest to her, was the first to sense that something was amiss.
The little girl's body trembled slightly, and the Queen of Qi instinctively reached out to her. Yet, Su Su's body seemed to instinctively flinch...
Was this...
The shadow of a past trauma? The Queen of Qi was uncertain, but she couldn't help but feel a surge of anger welling up within her.
She cursed everybody involved, from Chen Big Brother's family to the JinSun Emperor's family, including their chickens, ducks, geese, and dogs.
No one escaped her wrath. Yet, despite her outburst, she still felt unfulfilled.
She thought: How dare that despicable family have such a adorable and gentle daughter like Su Su?
Do they even deserve her?
The Queen of Qi recited a few calming mantras in her mind, gradually soothing her raging desire to kill.
The little girl didn't want them to worry, so the Queen of Qi pretended not to notice.
She lowered her head and gently asked Su Su, "Would you like to try the stir-fried mutton? It's also quite tasty. Or perhaps some of that braised venison over there?"
The Queen of Qi pointed to the dishes as she spoke.
Su Su had already snapped out of her traumatic memories.
Hearing her mother's gentle voice, Su Su thought: The past is the past, and now is now.
She had nothing to fear anymore.
She had her mother and brothers.
She...
Had a family now!
The word "family" gave Su Su an immense amount of courage and confidence.
She followed her mother's finger and looked in the direction she was pointing. Then, she turned her head slightly and looked at her mother with soft, obedient eyes. Her voice was gentle as she replied, "I want the mutton."
In truth, Su Su couldn't distinguish between the different types of meat.
She just felt that all the meat dishes were delicious.
However, she wanted her mother to serve her, so she had to make a careful choice.
Since the mutton was the closest, she decided to go with that.
After receiving Su Su's response, the Queen of Qi's murderous intent lessened slightly.
She gently served Su Su the meat and watched as she ate the fish noodles.
Only when Su Su had eaten her fill and let out a cute little burp did the Queen of Qi finally feel relieved.
Thinking about Chen Dalang and the Jin Yang Hou family filled her with disgust, and she had no appetite.
In the end, she merely picked at her food, taking only a couple of bites to indicate that she had eaten.
After the meal, the children would usually play for a while to aid digestion.
The Queen of Qi didn't interrupt them, even when Feng Xuanrui and Feng Xuanbin started wrestling again, hugging each other tightly, neither willing to let go. They rolled around together, and she didn't call for a stop. Even when Su Su got involved, at one moment tugging at Feng Xuanrui's hair, then fearing she might hurt him and quickly letting go, only to think of another idea and start tugging at his headband instead.
When the headband came off, Feng Xuanbin's hair tumbled down.
Feng Xuanrui laughed like a villain and cried, "Long-haired monster, here I come!"
Feng Xuanbin looked absolutely terrified, but since they were hugging each other tightly, he couldn't escape: "Ahhh! Don't come over here!"
Su Su stood up straight, proud and happy that her brother had the upper hand.
Watching the children play, the Queen of Qi's mood improved slightly.
She thought: Su Su had suffered so much in the past. Chen Dalang's family only broke her leg and thought they could get away with it?
That was far too lenient!
The Queen of Qi felt that they didn't deserve the blessing of having such an adorable and gentle daughter like Su Su.
How dare they?
The Queen of Qi recited a few more calming mantras in her mind, gradually dispelling the remaining traces of her murderous intent.
The little girl didn't want them to worry, so she pretended not to notice anything amiss.
She obediently ate the mutton that her mother had served her, her eyes sparkling with joy as she watched her brothers wrestle.
