Chapter 126: Lightning Style: False Darkness (3k)
Chapter 126: Lightning Style: False Darkness (3k)
On Monday afternoon, at the Ninja Academy...
The homeroom teachers of the first-grade classes had already reminded their students that their theory class would be held in the large lecture hall, so there wasn't any embarrassment of an entire class missing for the first big lesson.
"So many people,"
"That's Uchiha Shizui from Class 1-1, right?"
"And there's someone from Class 4..."
Most of the students were attending this type of large class for the first time, and they were brimming with excitement as they discussed various topics with their friends.
Knock knock!
"Everyone, quiet down a little. We're about to start the lesson." Mu Yue entered the classroom and gently knocked on the desk to get the students' attention.
The entire Class 1-1 immediately closed their mouths, and most of the students from the other classes also fell silent. Only a few daring students continued to whisper among themselves.
"I think this is the Mu Yue teacher I heard was excellent in teaching last semester."
"We'll see how good he is soon enough."
Mu Yue ignored the faint murmurs that didn't disrupt the class and continued, "Take out your textbooks. Today, we'll be learning about the history of Konoha, starting with Part 1."
"During the Warring States period, there was a great ninja clan known as the Senju, renowned for their benevolence and compassion..."
Although it was Konoha's history, the lesson didn't begin with the village's establishment. Instead, it started with how Konoha was founded and rose to prominence during the turbulent times of war.
As a teacher, Mu Yue had read through all three textbooks on Konoha's history several times.
Well, it was more or less similar to the history he remembered, except that the narrative employed certain techniques to glorify certain aspects.
For instance, the Senju clan was portrayed in a more positive light, with an emphasis on their noble mission of upholding justice. In Mu Yue's eyes, both the Senju and Uchiha clans were independent ninja families, but the textbook portrayed the Senju clan as paragons of virtue, while the presence of the Uchiha clan was downplayed. Uchiha Madara was even depicted as the greatest villain in Konoha's history.
On this point, Mu Yue agreed. Uchiha Madara could indeed be considered the biggest antagonist in Konoha's history, as he had already been manipulated by Black Zetsu at that time, and he no longer cared about the well-being of Konoha.
Mu Yue was very familiar with the textbook, and he rarely lectured with the book in hand. The timeline of events was already etched in his memory, so he could effortlessly lecture while also weaving in historical anecdotes and trivia.
This was a technique he had learned from his high school history teacher, who had a similar teaching style. By incorporating interesting stories and historical references, lessons became more engaging.
However, Mu Yue dared not joke around with Konoha's history during class. On the surface, Konoha was just an ordinary city, but in reality, it was a military base.
"This teacher is indeed better than the previous theory teacher," admitted the students who hadn't attended Mu Yue's classes before. They had to concede that Mu Yue's class was more interesting.
After all, some theoretical knowledge could be dry and boring, and if the teacher simply read monotonously from the textbook, it would be a struggle to stay awake.

[Evaluation: A]
[Rewards: Water Style: Water Dragon Bullet Technique, Lightning Style: False Darkness]
The Water Dragon Bullet Technique was already familiar to Mu Yue, and upon acquiring it again, he noticed that the skill panel now showed an increased level of proficiency. As for the Lightning Style: False Darkness, it was a new addition to his repertoire.
"I think I'll focus on leveling up my chakra this semester," Mu Yue thought, deciding to change his teaching strategy. Instead of dividing his efforts, he would prioritize increasing his chakra levels.
He already possessed a wide array of jutsu, including not only the basic five nature transformations but also medical jutsu of the Yang Release and genjutsu of the Yin Release. Whether it was for teaching his students or battling opponents, his current chakra levels, which were just over twice that of an average jonin, were sufficient.
If he could have the same chakra levels as the Third Hokage, he wouldn't have to hold back even if he couldn't stand in the sky.
Of course, merely changing his battle strategy wouldn't be enough to increase his chakra reserves that significantly.
After all, a regular small class only yielded twenty points, and by switching from half-and-half to all chakra, he would only gain an additional hundred points per week. However, with the introduction of these large classes, the rewards would be even higher.
After school, Mu Yue headed to the Southern Border Forest, where Obito and Might Guy had been training for most of the day.
Despite having the skill-enhancing effect of a professor, Might Guy still couldn't master the Shadow Clone Technique within a few days. In the end, Mu Yue created a shadow clone with minimal chakra and instructed it to use a transformation technique to disguise itself as Might Guy and attend classes in his stead.
However, Mu Yue made sure to set aside some time to teach Might Guy the theoretical knowledge when it wouldn't interfere with his training.
After all, there were breaks in between training sessions, and it was beneficial to relax and learn something new during those times.
"I am flame, I am flame, I am burning..." Obito muttered to himself as he squatted beside a campfire, trying to hypnotize himself by feeling the heat of the flames.
Mu Yue used his Appraisal skill on Obito, and the proficiency level was still at fifteen points from the morning. Obito's self-hypnosis technique hadn't borne any fruit.
Seeing Mu Yue's main body approaching, Obito sighed, "Teacher, this training is too difficult. I've been sitting by the fire all day, and I feel like I'm going to get heatstroke, but I still haven't felt anything special."
The task of comprehending the essence of fire and flame was indeed too abstract, and Obito felt that he had tried all sorts of methods, but he couldn't detect any changes at all.
Previously, when they were cultivating their fire-attribute chakra nature, his illusion-inducing cuisine had proven effective. Perhaps it could also work for the step where they needed to comprehend the essence of fire and flame.
"Shisui, you can also proceed to the next step of your training tomorrow," Mu Yue said to Shisui.
Although Shisui had started slower than Obito, he had been more diligent in his practice and had performed well during the second step. Now, his progress matched Obito's, reaching a proficiency of 15.
"Ah?" Upon hearing Mu Yue's words, Obito instinctively tensed, clutching a certain vulnerable part of his body.
That was an unforgettable memory. He had entered the bathroom feeling fine, but he had needed to lean against the wall to support himself when he came out.
Even Shisui, upon hearing Mu Yue's words, wore an expression as if he were facing a formidable foe. This was no laughing matter.
"Teacher Mu Yue, I think our current progress is actually pretty good, considering how difficult this secret technique is. It's normal not to make any progress in a day," Obito argued, hoping for a reprieve.
"Teacher Mu Yue, I haven't started the comprehension training yet. Why don't I try normal training first and see how it goes?" Shisui suggested.
Mu Yue found Shisui's suggestion reasonable and nodded in agreement. "In that case, Shisui, you don't have to eat it tomorrow. Obito, you go first."
Obito looked at Shisui with a questioning glance, wondering if he was looking out for himself.
"I've thought about it carefully, and I still think your idea is great, Teacher Mu Yue. It will definitely benefit our training, and it's troublesome to cook separately. Let's all eat the same thing," Obito proposed.
There was no way he would suffer alone; if Shisui wanted to avoid it, then he would drag everyone down with him.
"Why do you keep changing your mind?" Mu Yue flashed in front of Obito and tapped him on the head.
This time, it seemed that Shisui's suggestion made more sense.
Currently, both Shisui and Obito had a proficiency of 15. Moving forward, if Obito ate the food and his progress increased significantly, it would prove that the method was effective. In that case, Mu Yue would not only have to prepare spicy dishes for Obito and Shisui but also think of a way to make hearty meals for Might Guy to help him connect with earth and stone.
However, Mu Yue couldn't immediately think of any dishes that could create an environment related to rocks and soil. He certainly couldn't use stones and mud as ingredients.
Mu Yue mused that if stones were edible, they might taste quite good with the enhancement of his system's skills.
"I'm just worried about your training and don't want to tire you out, Teacher Mu Yue," Obito said, rubbing the spot on his head that had been tapped.
"I'm not tired. As long as you can cultivate something, it's fine," Mu Yue said with a smile.
Obito thought to himself, "This doesn't bode well. It looks like I'll be the only one suffering this time."
"I pray to the immortal Mu Yue for help. Please don't let Shisui's training progress too quickly tomorrow," Obito prayed, his hands clasped together.
If Shisui cultivated something tomorrow, it would be more painful than if he hadn't made any progress at all because it would mean that only he would suffer from then on.
Obito would rather Shisui's progress surpass him after eating extremely spicy food, even if it meant catching up to him in a single day, than be the only one staggering out of the bathroom, leaning against the wall.
After concluding today's training, Obito's progress with the Fire Breath remained unchanged.
When Obito returned home, he saw his shadow clone lying on his bed reading a novel and remembered that he had forgotten to dispel it.
Obito immediately dispelled the shadow clone. He had gone to great lengths to have the shadow clone attend classes in his stead.
In the moment the shadow clone was dispelled, the memories of the day's classes flowed back into Obito's brain.
In that instant, Obito felt as if he had just endured a dull and tedious math class that lasted half a day.
"Damn, math is so annoying!" Obito exclaimed as he flopped onto his bed.
He discovered a problem: although the shadow clone attended classes, when it was dispelled, the memories returned to him so vividly that there was no difference between him attending and the clone attending. The boredom and pain were undiminished.
"Wait, does that mean...?" Obito thought of something. He quickly performed the necessary hand seals to create another shadow clone and then tempted it to solve a math problem.
As soon as the shadow clone finished the problem, Obito dispelled it, and the memory of solving the problem instantly flowed back to him, as if he had just solved it himself.
Obito collapsed on his bed, deciding to revoke the title of 'Hermit of a Thousand Hands' from Tobirama Senju.
It was completely useless. Attending classes and doing homework were already mentally exhausting, and when the memories flowed back, the feelings were so intense that it was as if his original body had done them.
Obito felt that the shadow clone technique definitely needed improvement. For example, he should be able to choose whether the memories flowed back or not. That would make things much better.
"Only the immortal Mu Yue and the Sage of the Six Paths are reliable," Obito thought, feeling that Tobirama Senju had let him down.
