Chapter 126: Legendary Ingredients!
Chapter 126: Legendary Ingredients!
Naoki's mind flashed with an image of Teddiursa cunningly plucking a feather from Zapdos.
Confronted by this Teddiursa that had suddenly appeared from a corner, Zapdos angrily unleashed its electric power.
But Teddiursa, feather in hand, turned and fled, activating its Slick Feet ability. It not only dodged Zapdos' attack but also successfully escaped from this legendary Pokemon.
After escaping, Teddiursa and Mew arrived in a human city.
Perhaps unintentionally, they peered through the windows of the streets and spotted a human child drawing in a room.
And so, Mew and Teddiursa thought of a way to express themselves through drawing. They took out some crayons and depicted their encounter with Zapdos on paper.
Finally, they placed the letter, along with Zapdos' feather, into an envelope and gave it to a Big Mouth Sparrow friend they met on the road, asking it to deliver the letter back to the ranch.
As for why they didn't use the Big Mouth Seagull from before,
Naoki guessed that it might be because Mew and Teddiursa's journey was still ongoing, and they hadn't stayed in one place for too long.
What a discovery!
Just as he was worrying about a lack of Electric-type ingredients for cooking, Teddiursa had sent him the very ingredient he needed.
Of course, this was assuming that Zapdos' feather could be used for cooking.
Now, the question was, how should he cook this Zapdos feather?
Fry, stir-fry, deep-fry, steam, braise, or boil...
Somehow, none of these methods seemed quite right.
And even if he prepared it in one of these ways, it was unlikely that Dragonite and Bulbasaur would just swallow the feather whole.
A fundamental aspect of a successful dish was making it appetizing for the diner.
Moreover, this yellow, sharply-shaped feather looked like it would prick and irritate the throat just by looking at it.
Coincidentally, Dragonite, who had been napping on the grass for the entire afternoon, rubbed its eyes and sat up.
Naoki approached with the feather and asked, "Do you want to eat this?"
Dragonite looked at the feather, appearing uncertain.
"Roar...?" It couldn't eat this, could it? Although it was a bit of a dim-witted Dragonite, it knew what was and wasn't edible.
At the same time, Bulbasaur, who had been busy all day, saw that dusk was approaching, so it herded the mother chickens back into their coop. Then, full of enthusiasm, it finished its shift and ran towards Naoki.
Next, it heard Naoki holding a yellow feather and asking it, "Bulbasaur, do you want to eat this?"
"Bulbasaur?!"
Bulbasaur was startled. It looked at the feather and sensed an extraordinary aura emanating from it.
But... this didn't seem like something it could eat. Bulbasaur was equally uncertain.
Seeing this, Naoki sighed in his heart, knowing that his hunch was correct.
He pondered as he stood up and started walking towards the wooden house.
If eating it directly wasn't an option, what about grinding it into a powder? After a moment's thought, Naoki decided to give it a try.
However, he didn't currently have a grinder at home, so he glanced at the sky and, seeing that it would be a while before nightfall, he called over Golemon and rode it to Drench Town.
Naoki remembered that Keri had a grinder.
When he and Golemon arrived at Keri's house, she was having dinner.
Seeing Naoki's unexpected visit at this time, Keri looked surprised but then smiled and asked, "Do you have another facility you want to expand?"
"No," Naoki replied.
"I want to borrow your grinder to grind this feather. Is that okay?" he asked, holding out Zapdos' feather.
"Of course!" Keri stood up and led Naoki to her studio. Her gaze fell on the feather in Naoki's hand, and she asked, "Is that... a Pokemon feather?"
"It's fine," Naoki replied, not too concerned about the mess. His gaze shifted to the grinder on the table.
Keri walked over and plugged in the grinder before pressing the power button. "Alright, you can put the feather in now."
Naoki nodded and dropped the feather into the grinder.
As the machine buzzed to life, a small amount of yellow powder soon began to trickle out from the exit.
Naoki carefully collected all the powder and stored it in a bottle, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
The moment his gaze landed on the powder, information about it flashed through his mind.
[Zapdos Feather Powder: A legendary ingredient containing a massive amount of electric energy. Can possibly be used in cooking, effects unknown.]
Could it really be used for cooking?! Naoki's heart leaped with excitement.
And its quality was legendary!
This was the first time Naoki had come across an ingredient of such caliber.
He wondered what effects it would have if used in a dish. Naoki couldn't wait to get back home and experiment.
Noticing his eager expression as he handled the feather powder, Keri asked curiously, "What kind of Pokemon feather is that to make you look so excited?"
"Zapdos," Naoki replied.
"Zapdos?" Keri had never heard of this Pokemon before.
"The legendary Thunder God who can control lightning as it pleases," Naoki explained.
There seemed to be more than one Zapdos in the world, each with varying strengths, but only one was considered the true Thunder God. It was the Zapdos from the movie where it resided on Thunder Island.
If one could gather Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno, they could even summon the legendary Pokemon, Lugia, the ruler of ocean currents and storms.
However, it was unclear which Zapdos this feather belonged to.
"I've never heard of it, but from what you're saying, it must be an incredibly powerful Pokemon," Keri mused.
"Yes! After all, it's known as a legendary Pokemon," Naoki nodded.
"I'm just curious, though. How did you get a feather from such a Pokemon?" Keri asked, her curiosity piqued.
"Of course, Teddyursa gave it to me. You saw Teddyursa at the Spring Cow and Sheep Evaluation Competition last month," Naoki replied.
Upon hearing this, Keri immediately thought of the Teddyursa who had accompanied Naoki to the competition and even apologized to the other ranch owners.
"Its trait is Pick Up, right?" Keri asked.
Naoki nodded. "Yes."
Keri's eyes widened in surprise. "Its luck is incredible! To think it could pick up a feather that fell from a legendary Pokemon."
Naoki grinned. "It's not an ordinary Teddyursa, that's for sure. Well, it's getting late, and I shouldn't keep you any longer. See you later!"
"Goodbye," Keri replied, still a little dazed.
Naoki mounted his Golemon, his heart racing with excitement, and without lingering in town, he headed straight back to the ranch.
As he entered the kitchen area, he looked down at the ingredients and utensils already laid out before him.
Now, what should he make with this legendary feather powder? His eyes landed on the bag of flour in the corner of the kitchen, and an idea formed in his mind.
Steamed buns!
He would mix this legendary feather powder into the flour and make steamed buns!
