Chapter 1255: The Navy Is Terrifying Now
Vinsmoke muttered to himself, troubled over whether he could attend the Wano Country meeting.
But Luo Wei had no such troubles in the West Blue.
His only problem was that the Flower Country still hadn’t fallen!
It had already been a year since he resumed the campaign against Flower Country. From the start of his renewed invasion a year ago, continuous warfare had dragged on.
Dressrosa contributed numerous pirates they’d recruited, including the "Dragon-Tiger Pirates" now making a name for themselves on the battlefield—Wang Long and Liu Sheng Shi Hu. These forces had eliminated many Flower Country experts.
But it was still too slow.
Luo Wei knew Flower Country was a major nation. His own family originated from there before betrayal forced them to defect to Insect Country. Now he was King of Insect Country himself.
His declared reason for war was precisely this vengeance.
Major nations were hard to conquer…
The campaign was nearly over now. According to the battlefield situation, they should be facing the last resistance—the Flower Country’s numbered Treasure Navy units were practically annihilated, leaving only scattered holdouts.
Yet Insect Country had also suffered heavy losses. The pirate reinforcements brought in had taken significant casualties.
If he were merely a sovereign of one nation, he would never have launched this war. After victory, Insect Country would have little strength left to defend its gains.
But he wasn’t just Insect Country’s ruler—he was a member of the 'Debang' alliance. The Debang would definitely supply reinforcements.
Luo Wei never worried about insufficient reinforcements or scheming among allied nations. Such issues might exist, but they wouldn’t affect him directly.
Why?
Because his younger sister was in Kuro’s hands!
While that silver-haired monster was disgustingly pedophilic, one couldn’t deny his strength.
He’d become Wano Country’s Shogun during the End of the Four Emperors era—how could he lack power?
"Hmph."
At the other end of the battlefield, Luo Wei exhaled sharply in the military camp, pushing a chess piece directly into the enemy’s heartland on the sand table. "Final battle—end this quickly! I need to attend Wano Country’s New Year celebration!"
He didn’t want to see that annoying man, but he longed to see his sister.
Also, that ideal of his… this time, there should at least be some transformation.
...
On the Grand Line sailing toward Wano Country, numerous ships already crowded the waters. The Navy, emboldened, boldly navigated their warships directly out of the World Government’s territory, ignoring pirates along the way.
The reason? Their sheer numbers.
The Navy forces invited by Kuro were all his own faction. Even if not the same faction, as Navy comrades, they cooperated seamlessly. Within the same faction, their combined strength naturally surged—they held nothing back.
Massive warships sailed the Grand Line. Before any precise assault on pirate territories, pirates wouldn’t unite.
At least, that’s what they believed.
Among these warships were also Kas and Wilbur’s vessels—men who knew more of the truth.
A year ago, they wouldn’t have advanced this boldly. But since Kuro-san became Wano Country’s Shogun, circumstances changed. The navigational route directly to Wano Country was lined with their allies.
They’d long warned Kino and other pirates along the way—they were going to Wano Country for a meeting, so pirates should keep a low profile if they didn’t want trouble.
They’d controlled the navigational route from Dressrosa to Wano Country long ago. Otherwise, their own journey would’ve faced pirate ambushes—who could endure that?
Securing this route was essential. Even if other territories were abandoned, this route must be secured first. Only with it could resources and information flow freely.
Did anyone really think Klah stabilized Wano Country alone?
Dressrosa’s contributions were crucial.
Across the Grand Line, there were people who had originally left Wano Country. They were contacted first, persuaded with reason and emotion, then covertly brought back to Wano Country after ideological conversion. These returnees became new teachers or officials, spreading influence among Wano’s samurai class through Klah’s leadership.
Of course, gratitude was also due to Kurozumi Orochi and Kaido. Under their twenty-year rule, Wano Country had long eliminated daimyos and nobility. What remained were mere officials—and even those deemed problematic were removed through successive purges, reduced to commoners, then simply "disappeared."
Thanks to Wano Country’s weaponry, their pirate influence had grown significantly. The World Government only traded here every six months, fearing attacks and loot thefts. Wano Country had no such troubles—the navigational route was secure, weapons were distributed immediately upon arrival. Kuro-san knew this well, as David had once proposed this trade arrangement to their lord. Without this, those former Wano citizens they’d collected wouldn’t have been so easily infiltrated.
"This grand meeting must determine our direction."
Wilbur gazed at the Grand Line, his voice surging with passion. "We’ve been accumulating step by step. Now we’ve reached the point of challenging the World Government! Let’s see what Kuro-san’s orders are!"
"More like hints!"
Kas corrected, "Kuro-san won’t speak outright yet. We must discover things ourselves. At this stage, we’re not ready to openly oppose the World Government."
Clutching his fist, his tone rose: "We’re not fully united yet! When soldiers, workers, farmers, officials, and merchants stand together—that’s when we’ll raise our banner!"
"Exactly, Kas!"
"Let’s work together, Wilbur!"
"Oh? What intense emotions you two have."
As their eyes sparkled with determination, a light, teasing voice suddenly descended from the sky.
Before they could look, a wisp of yellow light shot down onto the deck, revealing an old man in Lucius Kro’s uniform, smiling broadly.
"Are today’s Navy really this terrifying? Not against giving an old man a ride, are you?"
"Borsalino, Admiral?!"
Donald exclaimed beside them.
"Old man isn’t Admiral anymore. ‘Supervision’ suits him now. But",
Lucius Kro chuckled, "you can also call me Lucius Kro. Old man’s current job is being Lucius Kro at the kindergarten, after all."
"Borsalino, Supervision…"
Wilbur squinted, heart tightening. Had this guy heard their conversation?
Wrong. He was Kuro-san’s superior—one who granted Kuro-san his position. Perhaps he already knew everything?
