Chapter 125: What About the School?
Chapter 125: What About the School?
Tongue Drip was large and currently airborne, unable to move in any direction except downward. If Fangy's attack was fast enough, it would be like shooting at a sitting duck.
However, given the distance between them, Fangy couldn't launch an attack fast enough to hit Tongue Drip while it was still in the air.
Fangy should aim at the spot where Tongue Drip would land, which was also the place where the Fireball had just hit.
Qiao Sang analyzed the situation and was about to speak.
But just as she finished her analysis, Fangy, as if sensing her thoughts, opened its mouth and launched a Basketball-sized Spark at the position Qiao Sang had envisioned.
Tongue Drip landed, and its injured foot touched the still-hot ground where the Fireball had struck. It managed to hold back a scream.
However, the next second, a terrifyingly energetic flame ball hit it head-on.
"Shesheshe!!!"
This was the advantage of taking the initiative. If the attack was well-executed, one could control the rhythm of the battle.
Everyone was stunned.
"Qiao Sang seems to be taking the upper hand..." Wang Jihang said in disbelief.
He was the last member of the Individual Combat Team.
"You're not wrong", Lu Liangye nodded seriously.
He no longer felt the need to compare himself to Qiao Sang. If she was only slightly stronger, he might still have felt competitive, but if she was overwhelmingly superior in every aspect, all he could feel was admiration and respect.
"Lick", Qin Wen said calmly.
Lick?
Qiao Sang was taken aback for a moment, then she remembered the Treasure Seeker Ghost. She recalled that the Treasure Seeker Ghost had a skill called Lick, which could paralyze the opponent with a single lick.
But that required close proximity.
Logically, Water-type Companion Beasts were better suited for ranged attacks, especially since they were limited on land and moved much slower than in water.
Could Tongue Drip have learned a signature move that would allow it to surprise the opponent?
"Fangy", Qiao Sang called out without further explanation.
"Yah!"
Fangy responded, its eyes becoming sharp and alert.
Tongue Drip stood still, extended its long tongue, and... licked its own wound.
Qiao Sang: "..."
Fangy: "..."
Now was the perfect time to attack!
Just as Qiao Sang thought this, Fangy's body emitted a blue glow, and Tongue Drip's movements froze, unable to move.
Qin Wen was stunned. Was this Psychic Power?
How could it be Psychic Power? Fangy was a Fire Pet Beast!
Qiao Sang's mind raced. Given Tongue Drip's abilities, it would likely break free from the control soon. Fangy's Psychic Power wasn't strong enough to cause significant damage, so they needed to use this moment of control to deliver a high-damage attack.
"Mars Rain!"
Fangy tilted its head back, condensing energy within its body.
However, the blue glow around it dissipated, and Tongue Drip broke free from the control.
Qiao Sang was taken aback. This wasn't what she had planned!
She had intended for Mars Rain to fall while Tongue Drip was still under control, making it impossible for it to avoid the attack.
After all, with Fangy's current energy, Mars Rain couldn't cover the entire arena, and Tongue Drip should have been able to dodge if it wasn't controlled.
But now the Psychic Power was gone.
Could Fangy not use two skills simultaneously?
No, that didn't make sense. When Fangy used Flame Fang, it could also initiate a Ram at the same time.
Was it an attribute issue, or did it require additional training?
As Qiao Sang was pondering, Qin Wen’s heart raced wildly, and she quickly ended the battle.
"Enough! The battle is over!"
If she heard correctly, Qiao Sang had just mentioned Mars Rain, right?!
That Mars Rain?!
Qin Wen tried to calm herself down.
It was just a test of combat skills. Whether or not Mars Rain was real, it was enough for now...
Fangy was taken aback by Qin Wen’s words, and the partially formed Energy Orb dissipated.
"Ya?"
No more fighting?
"Qiao Sang, you did very well. There are other training sessions coming up, so don’t waste your familiar’s stamina and energy", Qin Wen said, wiping her sweat as she stepped forward.
The crowd, still in awe of Fangflare’s Evolution-type being able to release a Psychic Skill, snapped back to reality upon hearing Qin Wen’s words.
Don’t waste your familiar’s stamina and energy?
Who was it that drained all their familiars’ energy yesterday?
...
6:00 PM.
Qiao Sang returned to her dorm and took a shower.
She lay on the bed, picked up her mobile phone, and went online to buy a rope that would fit Fangy’s current size for when she needed to string the Fire Condensing Pearl. She also checked out a few houses for rent near Holy Water High School.
Her requirements for the house were simple.
Besides being close to the school, it needed to have complete furniture and appliances, a water source, and few neighbors. Otherwise, the constant sound of skill usage might lead to frequent visits from the neighbors.
Unfortunately, with these four requirements, she only found two houses available for rent.
After confirming the viewing times with both landlords, Qiao Sang put her phone away.
She looked up at Fangy and Treasure Seeker, who were playing above her.
Today’s training hadn’t even pushed Fangy to its limits. It had run ten laps while the other familiars had only managed two. The gravity in the Gravity Room was set to 10 kg for fairness, a level Fangy had long since mastered.
Qiao Sang felt a bit helpless. She hadn’t made as much progress today as she had in recent days back in Hometown.
After watching her two familiars for a while, Qiao Sang’s eyes lit up.
...
6:56 PM.
On the school track.
A blue glow enveloped a figure running around the track, and upon closer inspection, it was hovering about five centimeters above the ground.
"Fangy, don’t go too fast. Be steady. We’re not chasing speed; we’re after stability. The longer you run, the more effective it will be", Qiao Sang said lazily, lying on Fangy’s back with her hands behind her head, gazing at the sky.
"Ya!"
Fangy let out a light bark and slowed its pace.
Qiao Sang, resting on the soft fur, felt the gentle evening breeze and marveled at her own ingenuity.
Since Fire-type skills couldn’t be practiced at school right now, she decided to focus on Psychic-type skills.
Using Psychic Power to carry her while running would train both the release of Psychic Power and physical endurance, and it allowed her to enjoy the night sky. It was a win-win situation...
"Xun~"
Treasure Seeker Ghost lay on Qiao Sang’s stomach, also looking up at the sky.
It was captivated by the twinkling stars.
After a while, Treasure Seeker Ghost, still staring at the stars, reached out a claw and poked Qiao Sang’s belly.
"Xun~"
"Xun xun~"
"Good, but that’s not possible", Qiao Sang said with a smile.
Wanting stars was so cute...
"Xun~"
Treasure Seeker Ghost retracted its claw and let out a disappointed bark.
Fangy, overhearing the conversation, looked up at the sky. It could fly now, and a star was a simple request for its little brother.
Qiao Sang felt content and peaceful as she gazed at the stars.
She hadn’t felt this calm in a long time.
The evening breeze was gentle... or maybe not so gentle...
Qiao Sang hugged Treasure Seeker Ghost and turned her head, only to be stunned.
Where was the school?
Where was the track?!
Where was the ground!!!
