Chapter 125: Teddiursa's Mysterious Gift
Chapter 125: Teddiursa's Mysterious Gift
"In all my years, I've never heard of such a Pokemon." Zack murmured, "I wish we had a creature like Reigwan in the Padia region. I believe all the nearby ranchers would worship it."
Unfortunately, there were very few legends circulating in the Padia region.
"Isn't that a good thing?" Naoki smiled, "Those legendary Pokemon are too distant from humans, and their appearances always bring various crises to the human world."
"Just like the legend of the Earth God and the Ocean God circulating in the Hoenn region. It is said that when they awaken, the entire Hoenn region will be affected by their struggle."
"The sky will pour endless rain, earthquakes and scorching sun will spread everywhere, that's what you call a real disaster!"
The Padia region was thousands of miles away from the Hoenn region, a distant land.
People living in Padia knew very little about the legends circulating there.
However, Zack could still sense the magnitude of the disasters these legendary Pokemon could bring from Naoki's tone.
"That's true!" Zack agreed, "Compared to that, our region is much more livable."
Then, he asked curiously, "Did you learn all this during your travels?"
Naoki had never traveled outside, and although the original owner had, he hadn't specifically sought to learn about these legends.
After a moment's pause, Naoki nodded, "Yes, 'I' have been to many places before."
"It's good for young people to explore!" Zack grinned, "Looking at you now, I take it you plan to settle down here?"
Naoki turned to look at the Pokemon in the ranch.
Long ago, he had also dreamed of traveling the world of Pokemon, but now, this stable and peaceful life was quite pleasant.
While it lacked the adventure and excitement of traveling, it made up for it with its tranquility and warmth.
So, he nodded, "Yes, I plan to live here for the long haul."
Naoki thought to himself that even though he was currently at the ranch, it didn't mean he couldn't travel at all.
Once the ranch was up and running, and he had Pokemon butlers and more financial freedom, he could travel to other regions with ease.
He could visit places like Newbark Town, see the World Tree, and explore the Crown Tundra...
"That's good, that's good," Zack said contemplatively, "To be honest, when I first met you, I thought you wouldn't last."
"Ranch life is tough, and being a farmer is boring. Not many young people would stick to it like you have. Do you remember Mr. Eliwood from the cherry blossom orchard next door?" Zack asked.
Naoki nodded, "Of course."
During spring, he had attended Mr. Eliwood's cherry blossom wine party and received a bottle of cherry wine from him. He was a very amiable gentleman with a beard.
"His daughter, Gina, is insisting on becoming a trainer and going on adventures with Pokemon!" Zack laughed, "Eliwood is overly worried about her safety and doesn't want her to leave. They've been giving each other the silent treatment for several days now."
"That's only natural for a parent," Naoki said.
If he had a daughter, he wouldn't be able to stop himself from worrying, especially in a world where children as young as ten years old could set out on journeys.
It would be hard not to worry about a ten-year-old girl traveling alone.
Naoki tried to put himself in Eliwood's shoes and thought that if he had a daughter, he might send all three of his riding Pokemon—Goat, Pidgeot, and Golurk—to be her bodyguards.
At this moment, Zack seemed to be lost in thought, and his eyes glistened with a hint of moisture, "Yes, it's only natural for parents to worry about their children.
Naoki, too, heard the cicadas' song, and as he looked up, he breathed in the air and replied, "Indeed!"
"Well, I've rambled on quite a bit without realizing it," Zack laughed as he loaded the sheep's milk onto the truck and waved goodbye. "See you later!"
"See you later!" Naoki bid his farewell as well.
As he watched Zack leave, Naoki turned around.
Just then, a large-mouthed Murkrow flew in from the evening sky and landed in the ranch, its sharp gaze fixed on Naoki.
Clutched in its powerful talons was a thick envelope.
"Huh?"
Naoki was surprised to see the wild Murkrow, apparently unknown to him, appearing out of nowhere.
He pointed at himself and asked, "For me?"
The Murkrow let out a sharp cry, nodding in confirmation.
Naoki had a fair guess as to who had sent the letter.
He reached out and took the envelope from the Murkrow's talons, then asked Golleton to bring out a box of the Pokeblock he had baked to give to the Murkrow.
Naoki took out a piece of Pokeblock and offered it to the Murkrow.
The Murkrow lowered its head, its gaze fixed on the Pokeblock that emanated an alluring aroma, and then it opened its long, sharp beak to devour the treat.
As the Pokeblock entered its mouth, the Murkrow's eyes lit up instantly.
"Thank you very much for delivering Teddiursa's message. This food is for you!" Naoki said with a smile.
The Murkrow, its eyes sparkling with delight, looked at the human before it and visibly expressed its happiness.
It let out an excited cry, grabbed the box of Pokeblock with its talons, and flew off toward the sunset.
"Agas?"
Golleton turned its gaze to the envelope.
It sensed a trace of energy emanating from the envelope, distinct from that of ordinary Pokemon.
Naoki's expression turned to one of surprise as he noticed the unusual packaging, different from the last time.
Had Teddiursa and Mew sent this?
What gift could it be this time?
Naoki opened the envelope, and the first thing that caught his eye was a sharp-looking yellow feather, faintly shimmering with a trace of electricity.
"A feather?"
Naoki was even more puzzled.
What kind of feather would be so special that Teddiursa, with its Pickup ability, would specifically pick it up and send it back to the ranch?
However, he was more curious about what was written on the postcard that Teddiursa had sent this time.
He opened the envelope, only to find that instead of a postcard, there was a simple crayon drawing that seemed to have been drawn by a three-year-old child.
The drawing depicted a rather peculiar-looking Pokemon.
From its wings and shape, it vaguely resembled a bird Pokemon.
Its body was colored in with a yellow crayon, and beside it were thick yellow lines, seemingly indicating the electricity emanating from the bird Pokemon's body.
Additionally, there were two adorable paw prints on the drawing.
This signified the sender of the letter.
Naoki placed the yellow feather next to the drawing of the Pokemon and compared them.
Suddenly, as if realizing something, he was struck with surprise.
"A Thunderus feather!"
In that moment, Naoki's previous conjecture proved true.
With Teddiursa's Pickup ability and the effect of the Honey Soft Candy, which granted the "Escape Feet" effect, Teddiursa and Mew had indeed encountered a Thunderus and successfully snatched a feather from it!
