Chapter 1244: One Missing from the Seven Warlords of the Sea
Chapter 1244: One Missing from the Seven Warlords of the Sea
Two weeks later, CP0 reinforcements arrived. Ships from the World Government entered Stealth Port and reached Flower Capital.
Their mission involved more than just rescuing and escorting personnel from this organization—they needed to secure Wano Country's Weapon.
Their trade had halted completely since Luffy's invasion of Wano Country. Now that the Restoration was underway, they affirmed their intent to resume transactions for Wano Country's advanced Weapon.
Kuro possessed these Weapons. Kaido had manufactured a batch previously, but Luffy's invasion disrupted the deal. With Kaido dead, the Weapons naturally fell into Kuro's hands.
Kuro had already planned to hand these Weapons over to the World Government, as agreements had been finalized earlier.
However, he was too lazy to handle it personally, so he delegated the task to Klah.
Klah acted decisively, delivering the Weapons and then escorting the World Government officials to Rabbit Onsen to receive the prisoners. Cipher Pol took charge of transporting them, cramming several ships with nearly two thousand captives. The convoy departed from Stealth Port, navigating the Grand Line.
These two thousand captives included five of the Six Crimson Stars, the plague-afflicted Quinn, and most importantly, the individual marked as the top priority by the World Government—the "Red."
On the Grand Line, the World Government's disguised ships sailed cautiously. During this farming segment, they dared not fly the World Government's flag, as pirates would target them without hesitation.
"Still, they're not completely foolish, are they?"
On the ship's deck, a government official chuckled. "They know how to act. Golden Lion doesn't hesitate when it matters. After all, even Admirals must obey orders from above."
"He wouldn't dare defy them, but his temper is notoriously bad. We avoid provoking him. As long as we regularly receive the Weapons, everything remains manageable", another World Government official remarked.
"Precisely."
The official smiled, about to continue, but suddenly his gaze sharpened. He stared at the sky ahead. A black shadow rapidly expanded, howling through the wind as it surged toward the ship.
A pterosaur!
...
West Blue.
At the border between Insect Country and Flower Country, the battlefield stretched endlessly. The sounds of slaughter echoed constantly.
Rat-a-tat!
On the battlefield, a burly man with a mechanical cannon platform on his arm unleashed madness, mowing down Flower Country soldiers like grass.
Boom!
Beside him, an even more muscular man wielding a massive stone pillar swung it effortlessly. The air pressure from the swing sent people flying, and the shockwave from the impact launched even more enemies into the air.
On the battlefield's far end, a figure flickered like an afterimage, darting through the chaos. Each time the afterimage appeared, a new bloodstain bloomed in the crowd, leaving enemies in disarray.
After clearing the area, the afterimage solidified, revealing a striking face beneath white hair.
Luo Wei shook blood from his hands, watching the Flower Country soldiers falter. A smirk curled his lips.
Across the battlefield, an elderly man in martial cultivation attire, bearing a prominent "1" emblem on his chest, shouted, "What do you hope to achieve, Luo Wei?!"
"What?"
Luo Wei scoffed coldly. "After fighting this hard, you still ask? Of course, it's to take over Flower Country. We're reclaiming what was ours. Flower Country betrayed the Luo Family years ago—now they'll compensate us with their throne!"
"Don't joke! A traitor like you dares to do this!"
The leader of Flower Country's "One Treasure Navy" roared angrily. "I'll stop you!"
His words rang hollow. The situation had already deteriorated. Flower Country had once felt secure, confident in their formidable military strength. Since Luo Shen's death, Insect Country's Luo Family had dwindled to just Luo Wei and Lolita—Navy-aligned Lolita left Luo Wei as the sole active member. How could he possibly challenge Flower Country?
But they'd miscalculated. Luo Wei had somehow recruited powerful pirates to join the battle, turning the tide against them.
Especially the man with the stone pillar. If he recalled correctly, that was Wang Long—a former renowned wanderer native to Flower Country. Why had he turned against his homeland?
What had Luo Wei promised them?
Meanwhile, similar conflicts erupted in North Blue. Near the Calm Belt, Vinsmoke led soldiers from the North Blue Four Nations in an invasion, engulfing part of North Blue in war.
The World Government could do little but attempt mediation, which depended entirely on the parties' willingness.
More pressing, Insect Country and the North Blue Four Nations had offered too much to ignore.
Most concerning, intelligence reported that the prisoner convoy from Wano Country had been intercepted by the escaped "Scorching Disaster" Jinbe. He freed all captives—including Quinn and the critically important "Red"—forming a new pirate crew. They now occupied one of Kaido's former territories, officially becoming pirates.
This news reached Wano Country.
"What? They escaped?!"
Kuro received a call, leaning back in his chair. "No, I don't know anything about this. You know I'm too busy here—I need to stabilize Wano Country first!"
"Try to track them down. Capturing them on the Grand Line will be difficult, but don't let them slip away if you spot them. Most importantly, ensure Wano Country's stability", the Transponder Snail's calm voice instructed.
"Got it. I'll keep an eye out."
Kuro hung up, shrugged, and slumped into his lounge chair.
"This is ridiculous. I thought Jinbe was captured. How did he escape?"
Kuro clicked his tongue, dialing another call. "Klah, come here."
Klah entered shortly. "Kuro, sir."
"Explain to Old Man how Jinbe escaped. Didn't I order strict supervision?" Kuro stroked his chin, eyes narrowing.
"I'm not entirely sure", Klah wiped sweat from his brow. "Kuro, sir, with Wano Country's current chaos, some escapes were unavoidable."
"Unavoidable?"
Kuro clicked his tongue again, contemplating. "This feels too coincidental. While I'm not upset these fools suffered a setback, I don't care about that Red woman either. The outcome seems fine, but something doesn't sit right."
He hadn't expected his words to come true—someone had indeed intercepted the convoy, and an unexpected one at that.
"Was Yamato on that ship?" Kuro asked.
Jinbe and Quinn weren't his concern, but that woman was a mythical beast. If released, her growth could cause trouble.
"No, Yamato remains here. Would you like to see her, Kuro, sir?" Klah asked.
"Not yet. Let's wait. I have plans for that woman, but we'll see if she agrees."
Kuro had no clear solution for those thousands of captives—just temporary detention. Jinbe's escape served as a reminder.
Becoming a pirate...
That was an option.
His Seven Warlords of the Sea position still had one vacancy.
