Chapter 124: Surprisingly, It's a World Liam Knows
Chapter 124: Surprisingly, It's a World Liam Knows
Although he had never been a leader in his past or present life, Liam understood a simple principle: rights and responsibilities go hand in hand. Since he had already enjoyed so many benefits from the Plants vs. Zombies World, he felt it was only right to do something for this world in return.
Soon, the doctor finished his examination and came out of the ward. Nora had only been lying in bed for too long, which caused some temporary movement issues. But her body had fully recovered.
Thinking about the terrible blood hole in her neck, Nora would likely have died if Liam didn't have Life Magic. It was already a great recovery for such a severe injury to heal in just a few months. According to the doctor, Nora had been in a strange frozen state when she was brought in, and they had to keep her in a cold storage unit to maintain her life while figuring out how to safely thaw her. Thankfully, they succeeded.
A few minutes later, Nora walked out of the ward, now dressed in a leather armor set. This was the latest trend in Greenleaf City Base, not only stylish but also very practical for movement. Most importantly, since only humans turned into Zombies in the Plants vs. Zombies World, Zombies rarely attacked non-human creatures. This led to a significant increase in wildlife, making materials for leather clothing and armor readily available.
After Nora was ready, the three of them headed to the large underground warehouse from last time. Liam opened the spatial door and they returned to the Multiverse General Store.
"What is this place?" Nora was curious about the Multiverse General Store. After all, she had been unconscious the last time she was here and hadn't seen it.
"You can think of this as a transit point between worlds", Liam explained, standing by the door and beginning to trace Nora's world. Soon, he found it.
Nora's home world turned out to be a Level 5 World, just like the Plants vs. Zombies World. This indicated that it was likely dangerous.
With this in mind, Liam had Nora take a pistol and a dagger, and he armed himself as well. He then paid 16 Deviation Points to open the spatial door to that world.
Before Liam could say anything, Nora charged in first. Liam could only grip his wand tightly and follow her.
As soon as they entered the world, Liam felt an overwhelming sense of discomfort. After learning Life Magic and Nature Affinity, his sensitivity to such things had greatly increased. He could sense that this was a dying world, with both nature and life teetering on the brink of collapse. Even the Plants vs. Zombies world seemed several times better in comparison.
Liam then calmed down and observed his surroundings. He found himself standing in a corridor lined with cryogenic chambers, and Nora was hugging and crying with a man in blue clothes who was lying on the ground.
"This—", Liam looked at the scene and finally understood where they were. This was the Fallout World, and he was in Vault-111 from Fallout 4. The woman he had saved was the wife of the protagonist, who was theoretically supposed to have been killed by a Mercenary sent by the Institute.
No wonder it took so few Deviation Points to bring Nora to another world at the time. After all, according to the plot, she was already dead, so her disappearance wouldn't affect the subsequent storyline.
Unfortunately, when Nora entered the Multiverse General Store, Liam was too focused on saving her and didn't pay attention to the style of her clothes. After she was taken to the Hospital Wing, she changed into different clothes. If he had noticed earlier, he would have recognized her right away. After all, he spent a lot of time in his previous life playing and completing this game.
It seemed that after two hundred years apart, the main couple needed some time to catch up. With that thought, Liam said his goodbyes and began to wander around the entire shelter.
Since this shelter was designed for cryogenic freezing, it wasn't very large. The only threats were a handful of radiation roaches. Liam didn't even need to use magic; he easily dispatched all the roaches with a police baton he found.
In the former staff quarters, Liam effortlessly used Alohomora to open the cabinet containing the cryo gun. He had always wanted this item in the early stages of the game in his previous life. After scavenging the area near the exit, he returned to the cryo chamber.
By this time, it seemed that Nora had explained the situation. The man, looking a bit weak, stood up and reached out to shake Liam's hand. "Thank you so much for saving my wife. My name is Knight. If you ever need my help, I will do everything in my power to assist you. I have some urgent matters to attend to; would you like to come with me?"
"You're too kind. I was just doing what anyone with the ability would do", Liam smiled and handed Knight the BB Gun, Elixirs, and pistol. "Your wife entered my world in the year 2227 on your side, and it's now 2287. I'm not sure what urgent matters you have, but since 60 years have passed, you might not need to be in such a rush."
"What, 60 years?" Liam saw the couple's surprised expressions. They were likely thinking about their son, who might now be older than they were.
But they quickly recovered and said, "Thank you for the reminder, but we must find the person who injured Nora and took our child. After all, only 60 years have passed, so our child might still be alive."
"I agree. You should know that I'm a Wizard, and I once used Divination to find what Nora was looking for. I'm confident that if you're seeking something, you will find it. Given what you've said, I believe your child is still alive", Liam consoled the couple.
"Thank you! However, I think it's best to leave this place now. It's been 200 years, and I'm eager to find out what has happened outside", Knight said, regaining his composure.
Knight then used the BB Gun to open the shelter's door, and the three of them rode the elevator to the surface.
Upon reaching the surface, Liam saw barren mountains, dead trees, and, surprisingly, a fairly clear blue sky. He also sensed something unpleasant in the environment trying to seep into his body. Fortunately, with his mastery of Life and natural forces, he easily isolated these things from his body.
The air here was filled with radiation and the Fev Virus. If he had come here a few years ago when his strength was weaker, he would have had to turn back immediately.
They then encountered a Ghoul. After a brief conversation, they began to scavenge the surrounding ruins. Liam opened a portal to the Plants vs. Zombies dimension, preparing to summon a Steam Robot to establish a base. Having a base would make future resource gathering and other tasks much more convenient.
