Chapter 124: Altar of the Crowned Rabbit King
Chapter 124: Altar of the Crowned Rabbit King
Naoki was a man of action; he didn't waste time when it came to implementing his ideas.
Upon returning to the ranch, he put his handyman skills to use and crafted a simple shrine from leftover planks and nails in the storeroom. He also molded a large rabbit out of clay, complete with a crown on its head, resembling a peculiar cauliflower.
Once the clay dried, Naoki placed the "Clay Rabbit" in the shrine and set it up behind the shipping box in the fenced-off empty space. It actually looked quite impressive.
"There!" Naoki surveyed his handiwork with satisfaction.
Finally, he offered a sincere prayer, accompanied by several Pokemon: "Oh great Crowned Rabbit King, please bless my ranch with good weather and abundant harvests during the upcoming summer!"
With the thought, "It's not like it costs me anything, so why not be a little more devout?", Naoki added two more Pokeblocks as offerings on the shrine.
After completing these tasks, Naoki's thoughts turned to other legendary Pokemon in the world that might be as approachable as the Crowned Rabbit King.
There was Mewtwo in Kanto, Ho-Oh and Lugia in Johto, and Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza in Hoenn. In Sinnoh, there were Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, and Arceus, as well as the Regis, including Regigigas. Unova boasted the Tao trio of Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem, while Kalos had Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde. In Alola, there were Lunala, Solgaleo, Necrozma, and the four Tapus. And finally, in the Galar region, there were the legendary dogs Zacian and Zamazenta, as well as Eternatus.
Naoki was open to the idea of showing devotion to any of these legendary Pokemon if it could be done.
However, it was a pity that these legendary Pokemon not only survived without relying on the power of faith but also possessed such high calibers and backgrounds that they didn't require believers.
In comparison, the Crowned Rabbit King seemed more approachable and was the closest to him.
As a Pokemon trainer, who wouldn't dream of encountering a legendary Pokemon? Naoki hoped that the Crowned Rabbit King would take notice of his efforts and develop a favorable impression of him.
That way, when he eventually traveled to the Galar region, the Crowned Rabbit King might even appear before him, its devout believer.
It was March 25th, and in just six days, the hot summer season would officially begin.
The beginning of a new season was usually the busiest time, but with a rare break in his schedule, Naoki decided to take some time to rest and recharge, conserving his energy for the upcoming work.
So that night, he went to bed early, cuddling with his fluffy little Buneary as he drifted off to sleep.
---
Meanwhile, far away in the snowy lands of the Galar region, the Crowned Rabbit King opened its eyes.
It sensed a faint thread of faith reaching out to it, a familiar feeling.
This prompted the Crowned Rabbit King to think of the last human believer who had suddenly appeared.
"Let me see what that believer is up to now," it said.
The Crowned Rabbit King focused its attention, its gaze piercing through time and space to once again observe the only human believer it had in this world.
In a space that seemed like a mirage, the Crowned Rabbit King witnessed the human crafting a shrine and a statue in its image, offering prayers with several Pokemon in front of the shrine.
"...Oh king, please bless my ranch with good weather and abundant harvests during the upcoming summer!"
The Crowned Rabbit King was deeply moved as it watched the human in the vision and saw the Pokeblocks placed before the shrine.
It had been a long time.
It had been too long since it had encountered such a human.
Even the most devout believers of the past could hardly have done more.
"This human is truly devout!" the Crowned Rabbit King thought, touched.
In the past, it would have immediately granted the wishes of such a faithful believer and their Pokemon without hesitation.
"I'm sorry," the Crowned Rabbit King said, its heart filled with sincerity.
Not only had it lost faith and weakened, but its two beloved horses had also left its side.
If only that believer were in the Galar region, the Crowned Rabbit King thought.
It would have asked him to grow a special type of carrot to attract its beloved horses.
Aside from the power of human faith, there was another way for it to regain its strength.
And that was to find the Spirit Horse and the Blizzard Horse, and fuse with them using the Bond Bridle, which would restore its power.
However, it was a pity that the Crowned Rabbit King sensed that the believer was currently in a place far beyond the Galar region.

The next evening, Zack arrived as usual in his large truck to collect the produce.
Seeing him approach, Naoki, who had been grooming his riding goat, quickly got up and brought over the goat's milk to be sold.
Zack weighed the milk and was just about to speak when he spotted a uniquely shaped shrine behind the shipping box. He interrupted himself and asked, "Hey, what's that?"
Naoki explained, "It's a shrine I made myself to venerate a very powerful Pokemon."
Upon hearing this, Zack's attention was immediately piqued. "Oh? What kind of Pokemon is it? Is it that crowned rabbit Pokemon sitting there?"
God damn, a crowned rabbit! Zack was from the Parthia region, so it was only natural that he wouldn't be familiar with the legends of the Galar region.
Naoki organized his thoughts and replied, "That Pokemon is called the Crowned Rabbit King."
"Crowned Rabbit King?" Zack had never heard of this name before.
"Mhm." Naoki nodded and continued, "There are legends about it in the Galar region. Apparently, the Crowned Rabbit King ruled over Galar in ancient times, and people referred to it as the Legendary King."
"Despite its small and delicate appearance, the Crowned Rabbit King possesses immense wisdom and the ability to see through the past, present, and future."
"Additionally, it has the power to heal spirits and make plants blossom. It is said that when it raises its right hand, flowers bloom and grass grows, and when it waves its left hand, fields become fertile and crops flourish."
"For this reason, the Crowned Rabbit King was also known as the King of Bounty in ancient times, a Pokemon filled with compassionate love."
Zack understood.
His eyes widened in surprise as he asked, "There's such a Pokemon? Then, wouldn't it be perfect for a farm?"
"Exactly," Naoki affirmed. "The Crowned Rabbit King used its abilities to help the people of ancient times, ensuring bountiful harvests and sparing them from hunger."
As he spoke, Naoki suddenly felt like he had become a preacher for the Crowned Rabbit King...
After a moment's thought, he shook off the strange notion and nodded to Zack, saying, "That's right."
