Chapter 123: Is This the Legendary Dark Magic Shop?
Chapter 123: Is This the Legendary Dark Magic Shop?
"Remember, be careful, careful, and more careful! The opponent is a Dark Wizard, and they might attack us as soon as we enter", Delius whispered to the two others before they entered.
"Okay", Ellison and Sunny nodded rapidly, like chicks pecking at rice.
The three approached the door, and the bell hanging above it jingled softly in the breeze, producing a pleasant sound.
Delius, as if facing a great enemy, instinctively turned around and, with a swift motion, drew his Wand and pointed it at the bell.
Long training had also made Sunny and Ellison react quickly, fumbling to mimic Delius's actions.
Following the senior's lead was always the right choice.
However, several seconds passed, and nothing happened.
The two young Aurors looked at Delius with tense expressions, wondering if something had occurred that they hadn't noticed.
"Ahem", Delius cleared his throat awkwardly, trying to find an excuse to cover up the situation. Just then, a voice spoke up.
"Welcome to the strange Magic Item shop. May I ask what the esteemed guests need?"
At the counter, Ivan looked curiously at the three Aurors who were pointing their Wands at the door as if facing a formidable enemy. He couldn't understand what they were trying to do to his door, but he greeted them warmly.
Ivan's timely intervention eased the awkward atmosphere, and Delius quickly lowered his Wand, maintaining a poker face as if nothing had happened.
Ellison and Sunny's attention immediately shifted to Ivan.
Before entering, Ellison had imagined what the shop owner might look like.
A gloomy, bald Wizard in peculiar clothing? Or a one-eyed old witch with a twisted smile? But he never expected that a young Wizard, around eleven or twelve years old, would greet them.
"Where is Mrs. Hals?" Delius furrowed his brow. He hadn't expected this either, but his cautious nature kept him on guard.
He remembered from the files he had read that the owner of this Dark Magic Shop should be a young witch.
"Mom is upstairs, she'll be down shortly", Ivan explained, then stepped out from behind the counter and gestured to the three.
"Are you here to make a purchase? I can show you around and introduce you to some items that I think you'll find interesting."
Auror Sunny was about to explain their purpose, but Delius stopped her. The towering man shook his head at the two team members and said,
"Yes, we're here to buy something."
Ellison and Sunny immediately understood Delius's meaning. The captain wanted them to pretend to be customers to gather information about the shop.
Although they were in their uniforms, this young Wizard might not know who they were, which could be useful for getting information about the Dark Magic Items and perhaps even catching the shop owner red-handed.
Ivan was fully aware of their identities as Aurors but made no move to expose them. Instead, he led them around the shop, introducing the various items.
He hoped that these Aurors would buy more items and help promote the shop.
The three Ministry of Magic Aurors cautiously navigated through the numerous Magic Items. Although the items looked normal, they suspected that some of them might be dangerous Dark Magic.
"This is a Fake Wand", Ivan pointed to the nearest Wand, made of natural wood.
"What? You actually sell counterfeit products here?" Sunny said indignantly.
"This isn't a counterfeit. Don't you read the Instructions?" Ivan's forehead veins bulged as he spoke, clearly exasperated.
Sunny moved closer and took a few looks. There was indeed a sign on it, explaining the usage of the fake Wand.
"Touch it and it will turn into a Rubber or White Metal Toy?" Sunny muttered to herself.
The Instructions didn’t seem particularly special, but a Dark Magic Item definitely wouldn’t be that simple.
"Could this thing turn us into Toys? That’s terrifying!"
Sunny took a few steps back, her face filled with fear.
Ellison also heard this and was equally speechless.
Ivan was speechless, and seeing the timid looks on their faces, he decided to take the initiative and picked up the fake Wand in front of them.
The three of them noticed Ivan’s action and instinctively moved a bit further away, their eyes fixed on the Wand.
As everyone watched, the fake Wand, upon being touched by Ivan, suddenly turned into a soft Rubber Mouse. The Weasley Twins had even added a Sound Magic Charm, making it emit a squeaking noise.
Sunny screamed when she saw the mouse, while Ellison looked back at Delius with a strange expression.
Is this the Dark Magic Item you mentioned, Captain?
It doesn’t seem that terrifying.
It’s just a Toy, not a Dark Magic Item. Delius rolled his eyes and then signaled with his eyes that they shouldn’t let their guard down. This was likely a trap designed to deceive them.
Sunny and Ellison nodded solemnly. They were well-trained Aurors, and even though they had only recently been appointed, they had heard many of the Dark Wizards’ tricks during their training. Dark Wizards often used disguises to make their victims relax before delivering a fatal blow!
However, as Ivan enthusiastically introduced various Magical Items in the shop, Sunny and Ellison’s expressions became increasingly strange.
Items like Dungbombs that could spray foul-smelling liquid when thrown, a Self-Answering Quill that could complete homework tasks automatically, and a Potion that could temporarily boost one’s Charm.
With a series of explanations and Ivan’s inherent charisma, Sunny almost couldn’t resist the temptation to buy something, and Ellison was equally tempted. He desperately wanted to buy a Quick-Answer Quill so he wouldn’t have to write reports by hand.
However, every time they were about to make a move, Delius would stop them with a stern look.
They were on a Ministry of Magic mission; they couldn’t buy anything from a target shop.
Sigh, such picky customers. Ivan sighed. He knew that if he couldn’t convince Delius, he wouldn’t sell anything today.
With that in mind, Ivan paused and led them to a shelf in the center of the shop. On it were a pair of Black-Red Gloves with a Shield-Shaped Metal Patch on the back. The patch was embossed with the shop’s emblem and surrounded by Golden Patterns.
For a seasoned Auror, what could be more appealing than a Magical Item that enhances combat and survival capabilities?
