Chapter 123: Instructor Jing He
Chapter 123: Instructor Jing He
Friday, the weather was clear.
Tomorrow was the day of the Top 16 mentor evaluation battles, and while the teachers at the academy hadn't shown much reaction, some of the students were already buzzing with anticipation.
Jing He, however, wasn't particularly affected by it.
After work, he hurried to the Kanaz Police Station.
There were still over forty rampaging Pokemon waiting to be calmed, and even if it wasn't for the money, these wild Pokemon were innocent.
Taking a taxi to the police station, he stepped out.
"Kye~"
Gengar raised a hand to shield his eyes from the sun. The setting sun could be quite blinding, especially in Kanaz, which was located on the westernmost coast of the Hoenn region, where the seaside sunset was even more dazzling.
Jing He, being more practical, simply summoned Gengar to his side, and immediately, the sun's glare was blocked, bringing a cool, refreshing sensation.
Gengar: "?"
But as soon as he walked into the Kanaz Police Station, Jing He was taken aback by the scene inside.
Jasmine, Jasmine, Jasmine... and more Jasmine.
They all wore the same uniform, had the same face, and the same figure. For a moment, Jing He couldn't tell which one was the Jasmine he knew.
"Teacher Jing He, you're here."
One of the Jaspers stepped forward, smiling, and said:
"Let me introduce you. This is my cousin from Mauville, this is my niece from Johto, and this is... from Kanto."
Jing He's expression grew serious.
"Is the situation that serious?"
It was understandable that Jaspers from Mauville and Verdanturf would be here, but Jaspers from Kanto, Johto, and even Sinnoh were present.
Could it be that the wild Pokemon rampaging incidents had spread to other regions?
But if that were the case, shouldn't it be Sawyer who came to him?
The Jasper who spoke paused, then realized Jing He's misunderstanding and quickly clarified:
"No, no, Teacher Jing He, you misunderstood. The Orange Forest incident is already under control, and we're still investigating. We might have a chance to catch those people this time!"
"As for why they're here, they want to learn the 'Ambush Tactics.'"
"Ambush Tactics?"
Subsequently, after Jasmine's explanation, Jing He finally understood.
It was well-known that the Jasper family had the most Growlithes and Arcanines in the Pokemon world. Arcanines, to a certain extent, were the face of the family.
Just like how Chanseys were the signature Pokemon of the Joy family.
So, when Jasmine saw the "Ambush Tactics" in action and heard Jing He's detailed explanation of the "Ambush Team" formation, she realized that this might be the perfect tactic for their family.
The idea of using "Ambush" to ignite the "Justice Spirit" and enhance Arcanine's combat abilities wasn't new, but it had been developed quite crudely.
It often just involved using "Ambush" to boost Arcanine's physical attack power, without considering other factors like the damage to Arcanine, support, control, and initiative.
This was actually one of the differences between the Pokemon world and the Pokemon games Jing He had played in his previous life.
In Pokemon games, everyone could get any Pokemon they wanted and teach them any move they desired. They could cultivate Pokemon exactly as they wanted, whether it was physical attack power, HP, or any other attribute, all of which were controllable.
But in the Pokemon world, not everyone could get the Pokemon they wanted. The difficulty of obtaining ideal Pokemon was extremely high.
Pokemon with the "Justice Spirit" ability, such as Arcanine, Absol, and Glalie, were not easily obtainable. Not to mention legendary Pokemon like Kyurem, Reshiram, and Zekrom, or Keldeo.
Moreover, the cultivation of Pokemon varied due to various reasons.
For example, Jing He had certainly thought about how he wanted to cultivate Gengar, Lapras, and Machop.
But the result?
He ended up with three "Rebels."
Additionally, the cost of trial and error in cultivating Pokemon was very high. The resources and effort required to train a Pokemon were immeasurable.
This led to the fact that not all Pokemon trainers in the Pokemon world were unwilling to develop tactics, but the conditions didn't allow them to spend a lot of time devising various tactics and bringing their creative ideas to life.
Individual Pokemon tactics were relatively easier to handle, such as "Hyper Voice Tactics," "Substitute Toxic Tactics," and "Toxic Heal Tactics."
But the more systematic and comprehensive the tactics were, the harder they were to develop.
Even trainers like Sawyer, Korrina, Diantha, and Cynthia relied more on the strength of their Pokemon.
This was also why some powerful and conscious trainers gradually cultivated second and even third teams of Pokemon.
Therefore, when Jasmine heard about a fully developed "Ambush Tactics" or "Ambush Team" from Jing He, she immediately informed the upper echelons of the Jasper family.
That's why so many Jaspers were at the Kanaz Police Station today.
They were here to learn!
Before Jing He could respond, the other Jaspers chimed in together:
"Teacher Jing He, please!"
Their voices were loud and clear.
"I..."
Jing He really wanted to say that tactics weren't something that could be learned with just one demonstration or one lesson. They required constant practice, facing different opponents, and adapting to different situations.
It’s not something you can learn in a day or two.
"Actually, if it's possible," Officer Jenny of Kanaz City said, "we’d like to invite you, Teacher Jing He, to be a special instructor at our ‘Jenny Police Academy’ to teach us ‘Surrounding Tactics’!"
A special instructor?
There should be some compensation, right?
"Everyone should learn from each other," Jing He quickly waved his hands. "But this is a bit sudden and rushed. I don’t have any Pokemon with the ‘Justice Spirit’ trait."
"Arf—"
The Arcanine that Jing He had commanded a few days ago ran out, tongue lolling. It looked around but didn’t see the presence of the Glaceon, and its wagging tail immediately drooped.
"But even with just one Arcanine, it’s not enough."
Officer Jenny of Kanaz City took out a tray with several Poke Balls on it.
"Indeed, it is a bit rushed, but based on the Pokemon you mentioned that day, we’ve tried to prepare one of each."
Jing He: "..."
They were certainly well-prepared.
"Can I start by calming those rampaging Pokemon? I also need a moment to prepare myself," Jing He said.
"Of course."
Jing He then took out Gastly and summoned Glaceon and Archen to start calming some of the wild Pokemon that had already woken up from their unconscious state.
As for those with more severe injuries, like the Honchkrow, they wouldn’t be waking up anytime soon.
After Jing He left, the other Officer Jennys couldn’t help but start discussing.
"Who would have thought that Instructor Jing He is so young, so handsome, and so charming."
"He speaks so gently, unlike the fierce instructors at the school. I think... I can do it!"
"I’m starting to envy my cousin, who gets to work with Instructor Jing He."
"..."
Officer Jenny of Kanaz City let out a light hum.
You haven’t seen Instructor Jing He with Diantha. That’s the real dilemma.
In the indoor battle arena of the Kanaz Police Department.
"The simplest situation is like this: Bellossom uses ‘Surround,’ Smeargle uses ‘Look at Me,’ and Weavile uses the ‘Snow Warning’ ability to create an ‘Aurora Veil’ to protect the core Arcanine."
In front of Jing He stood Arcanine, Bellossom, and Weavile.
"Then, Bellossom can use ‘Tailwind’ to boost, or counter space teams and sleep teams with ‘Taunt,’ ‘Encore,’ or even create a space itself."
"Arcanine needs a comprehensive move pool to push the team."
Even with these Pokemon present, just explaining tactics can be a bit dull.
But the Officer Jennys listened intently, each taking notes.
"Actually, if possible, you can bring two Pokemon with the ‘Justice Spirit’ trait, using two Arcanines, or adding a Lucario with strong pushing ability but relatively weaker endurance."
"Bellossom can also be replaced with Dragonite for faster speed."
"Of course, this is for battles. In the wild, it’s not as strict."
On the side, Gastly, Glaceon, and Archen sat on a bench.
"Chirp?" (What’s going on?)
Archen found it very curious.
"Chirp~" (Making money.)
"Growl~" (Teaching a class.)
Gastly and Glaceon spoke in unison, then looked at each other.
This made Archen, who was already confused, even more puzzled.
Meanwhile, Jing He’s simple lecture was coming to an end.
"If you upgrade this tactic, you can use Gourgeist, Regieleki, Dragonite, Smeargle, Reshiram, and Tornadus."
The Officer Jennys all had question marks floating above their heads.
Besides Dragonite and Smeargle, what other Pokemon are these?
"Cough, cough."
Jing He realized he had said a bit too much.
He described a lineup he had used before.
"Um, the last part was just a side note, not important. This is the general idea. Without actual battles, theoretical knowledge needs to be supplemented as situations arise, otherwise, it’s endless."
"Alright, we’ll prepare better next time and use a battle as a demonstration."
Officer Jenny of Kanaz City wrote this down.
Jing He: "??"
Did I say that?
I didn’t, right?
And, there’s a next time?
"Um, I have other things to do, so I’ll be going now."
Jing He picked up Glaceon and Archen and, with Gastly, flew off as fast as he could.
He had a feeling.
If he stayed any longer, those Officer Jennys might not be able to hold back.
At home, he still had to provide psychological counseling to Giovanni’s Nidoqueen.
'I’m really busy.'
After Jing He left, Officer Jenny of Kanaz City looked at her sisters.
"Understood?"
The other Officer Jennys looked at each other, nodded, and then quickly shook their heads.
Sort of understood, not really.
Seeing their reactions, Officer Jenny of Kanaz City breathed a sigh of relief.
It seems everyone is about the same.
"Let’s compile the notes."
They then combined their notes into a report and submitted it to the higher-ups.
They could already foresee that when the higher-ups saw this tactical report, they would take it very seriously.
And as a result, Jing He’s treatment as an instructor would certainly rise with the report.
"Too bad for the sisters in Unova, Kalos, and Alola."
