6:04 p.m.
Temple of Priests Office Public Building, Luxen City.
Joshua was walking down a hallway on the first floor and Vivian was behind him.
Since it was already past 6:00 p.m., there weren’t that many people anymore and more than half of the staff already left.
Joshua and Vivian reached an open door with a sign that read Treasure Room and then entered.
The room was quite spacious. There was a lounging or waiting area on the left corner, there were four desks in the middle arranged in a horizontal line -- each with two chairs in front of them -- and a small private office room at the right corner.
No one else was there but a man in his late 40s who was wearing a similar uniform of the non-Priest staff employees working in the building. He stopped sweeping the floor, turned to them and lowered his head.
“Honored Priest Joshua, Honored Priestess.”
“Jaire, thank you for your hard work as always and please excuse us for interrupting your work, but is Brother Kian still around?”
“Honored Priest Kian and the rest have already left, Honored Priest.”
“Please fetch us the keys of this room. I need to use this room for a moment.”
Jaire lowered his head.
“As you wish, Honored Priest,” he said and then left.
***
A few minutes later…
“...and that’s what happened,” Vivian said.
Joshua nodded after Vivian explained how she encountered the hostages and demon bandits.
“I see. I thank the God of Light that you were guided to be there.”
Vivian nodded.
“I thank the God of Light too.”
They were still inside the Treasure Room and sitting at the lounging or waiting area. Beside them was a coffee table with a Memory Crystal, a pen and papers on top of it.
Knock, knock.
They heard a knock on the door and they both turned to see who it was.
It was a man in his mid-30s who was also wearing a similar uniform to the non-Priest staff employees working in the building and he was carrying a piece of paper on his hand.
He lowered his head.
“Please excuse me, Honored Priest Joshua, Honored Priestess. I came here to deliver this initial report from Honored Priest Gerald to you.”
“Thank you, Carlo,” Joshua said.
Carlo walked over to Joshua and handed over the paper.
Joshua read the paper for a moment and then placed it on top of the coffee table.
“Tell Brother Gerald that I will be going home after I’m done here. That will be all.”
Carlo lowered his head.
“Yes, Honored Priest Joshua. Have a great evening,” he said, raised his head, turned to Vivian and lowered his head once again. “May you have a great evening as well, Honored Priestess.”
Vivian nodded.
“You too.”
Carlo raised his head and then finally left.
Joshua picked up the pen on the coffee table and began writing on a paper. Once he was done writing, he gave the paper to Vivian.
“Normally, Brother Kian and the rest would be the ones in charge of issuing the rewards. But since they’ve already left and I don’t want you to go home empty-handed, I’ll make an exception.”
Make an exception…?
So this guy is such a big shot…?
Vivian made a quick assessment of Joshua’s appearance.
I can’t sense anything special about him…
Well…
There is one thing…
He has a very warm presence…
As a 24-year-old working male adult and still relatively fresh out of college back in her original world, one of the things that Vivian “struggled” to accept was the importance of social skills.
In Vivian’s mind, she believes that she wasn’t a social retard that couldn’t talk with people. But what really shook her was the importance of having great social skills in the working world.
Going into the working world, she thought that being hardworking and productive were the only two things needed. After all, by the end of the day, a company is a business, and for a business to exist, it needs to earn profit. However, she never expected in a million years that a lot of working adults would hold social skills or getting along with your co-workers on the same level of being hardworking or being productive.
She understood the importance of giving the boss and the high-ranking employees preferential treatment because the boss is the owner of the company and the high-ranking employees have a lot of influence. However, to treat not only your boss and the high-ranking employees but also everyone else like you want to talk and hangout with them for the sake of having a “harmonious” environment, that was where she was completely lost.
So even in this world…
Having social skills is important, huh…
Humans are just weird…
I mean…
Who cares about getting along with everyone…?
The only focus should be the ones who are useful or produces results…
The useless ones should just shut up and get out…
“You mentioned that your Physical and Magic Force is Mithril, right?” Joshua asked.
Vivian nodded.
“Yes.”
“Your story coincides with what you told me. The bandit you brought here has the Magic Force of Iron-Silver according to Brother Gerald’s findings but I’ll give you the rewards based on a Silver-Grade Lesser Demon’s bounty -- 20 gold coins. I’ll also consider the other 3 demon-worshippers that you killed as Silver-Grade Lesser Demons. So your total reward will be 80 gold coins.
“And once Brother Gerald extracts all of the necessary information from the demon-worshipper you brought us, find out their hideout and eradicate all of his companions, you will receive an extra reward.
“If you agree with the things I mentioned, please sign the paper. If you don’t, we can discuss further.”
Vivian blinked a few times and then looked at the paper she was holding.
The paper was basically something like a waiver-report that detailed what she told Joshua and the reward she was about to receive.
She returned her gaze to him.
“I just have one question.”
“What is it?”
“You mentioned about finding their hideout and eradicating all of his companions. Does this mean I have to participate in that?”
“You can if you want to by applying through the Holy Mission. But regardless, you will still receive the extra reward once our brothers and sisters find out their hideout and eradicate all of his filthy and disgusting companions.”
I want to ask him more about these demon-worshippers…
But I’m 24 years old…
No matter how I look at it…
Even I would find it strange if a 24-year-old person doesn’t know anything about demon-worshippers, Lesser Demons or whatever…
And plus…
Another secret just got added to my secrets…
[Greater Origin (Greater Chaos) Mastery] - Level 1…
Vivian nodded.
“I see. Whether I want to participate, I’ll think about it. But I agree with what’s written on this paper.”
Joshua picked up a pen and then offered it to her.
“Please sign it. And after that, I'll I'll hand over your reward and then we will record all of it on the Memory Crystal.”
“One last question.”
“Sure.”
“I bought a Magic Item through a loan worth 60 gold coins and also for other things. Will this reward cover it?”
I remember that Gold Cloak named Lance said…
For Brown Cloaks, the maximum credit is 100 gold coins…
White Cloak is 1,000 gold coins…
Gold Cloak is 10,000…
And I think Red and Gray were 100,000…
Joshua nodded.
“Yes.”

6:42 p.m.
Female Dormitory, Temple of Priests Compound, Luxen City.
Vivian was at the shared free room and was standing beside her bed.
The shared room had at least 10 bunk beds and her bed was the lower one. There wasn’t anyone inside at the moment, only her.
She crouched down, pulled out a basket box under her bed, and then opened it.
There were two other basket boxes and one basket. The first basket box was her for her clean clothes, the second basket box for her other belongings, and the basket was for her washing and showering items.
I have to rush before the Cafeteria closes…
Usually, Vivian would come home around 6:00 p.m., take a bath and change to a new set of clothes, and then have dinner. After that, it depends -- Magic Art training, sleep or whatever.
First, she removed her gloves and placed them on top of her bed.
Next, she removed her Brown Cloak first and the expression on her face twisted.
That fucking demon alien…!
Thanks to being slapped away by one of the demon bandit’s tail and then rolling on the ground a couple of times, it was covered in grass and dirt.
How dare he touch me…!
She let out a sigh.
I don’t have an extra cloak…
I need to buy one tomorrow…
She placed her Brown Cloak inside the basket.
She began removing her shirt. And as she was about to throw her shirt inside the basket, she stopped.
“What the hell…?”
Vivian’s skin was not pale as a ghost but it was like she was a literal walking corpse. Her skin was so pale that the veins under the skin of her arms, chest and stomach were visible.
Tap, tap.
She tried touching herself, even pinching her skin.
I don’t feel strange…
What’s going on…?
Sure…
I’ve been spending less time sleeping and doing so many things…
But I don’t think my --…
Her fight with the demon bandits and her learning the [Greater Origin (Greater Chaos)] Mastery flashed inside her head.
Tap, tap.
She touched her skin once again.
What’s going on...?
I don’t remember those bandits having pale skin…
She continued stripping down until she was fully naked.
***
Vooom!
Vivian, who was wearing nothing but a towel on her body wrapped around her body, and carrying a basket with showering items on her left hand and a set of fresh clothes on her right hand was moving like a blur on the hallway of the first floor of the female dormitory.
Thank God one is vacant…!
The female dormitory had 4 floors. Each floor had 4 bathrooms and 4 toilet rooms. And at the moment, not only was the hallway empty but all 4 bathroom and toilet rooms were also vacant because everyone was out for dinner.
Ku-chud!
She entered one of the bathrooms and then closed the door behind her. She placed her showering items and extra clothes on the side, peeled off her towel and then checked her reflection on the mirror.
“What the hell…?”
Her skin was deathly pale that her veins underneath her skin were visible on some parts of her body. And as for her face, there were visible veins crawling from her neck to her jaw and her lips was close to purple. Her nails were also no exception.
I literally look like a walking corpse…
