Chapter 1221: The Newcomer's Bracelet
Chapter 1221: The Newcomer's Bracelet
2023-09-06
"Oh, I see." Su Yu nodded.
If Glenwy said it was "not on the surface," did that mean it was happening secretly?
If a planetary-level entity targeted you, even an Eighth Rank powerhouse would be nothing more than a large ant, with a very grim fate.
Glenwy's gaze swept over Su Yu, and suddenly, she noticed the bracelet on his wrist. "Where did you get that bracelet?"
Su Yu was taken aback but answered truthfully, "A woman who called herself 'Sanctus' gave it to me. The basic functions of this bracelet are far superior to the phones on our home planet, so I've been wearing it ever since."
"Sanctus?!" Glenwy, who was drinking water, almost choked.
What kind of con artist was this? How dare they impersonate Sanctus to deceive others?
But such a low-level scam would only work on the natives. As a citizen of the Holy Silver Federation, who would fall for something like this?
"Forget it, I'll give you a newcomer's bracelet."
Glenwy shook her head and walked toward the back of the room.
There was another door at the very back, tightly closed, leading to some unknown place.
However, after just two steps, Glenwy suddenly turned around and asked, "Newcomer, do you have any pet companions or bonded partners?"
Su Yu was taken aback but then nodded. "Yes."
This confirmed for Su Yu that the Fig Hub indeed had no surveillance cameras. He had let the cat, Morning Star, out for quite some time, and Glenwy hadn't noticed.
"Morning Star, come out."
Su Yu opened the pet space and released Morning Star.
Morning Star hadn't been sleeping in the pet space; she had been listening to Su Yu and Glenwy's conversation the entire time.
Moreover, while Su Yu was absorbing the memory bubble, she had also replicated and absorbed one, gaining a preliminary understanding of the current situation at the Fig Hub.
Morning Star knew she couldn't cause trouble for Su Yu.
So, after jumping out of the pet space, she gracefully leaped onto Su Yu's shoulder and curled up, remaining perfectly still.
"Wow, such a cute little creature!" Glenwy couldn't help but exclaim when she saw Morning Star.
Cats were irresistibly adorable to humans, and the same was true for the Holy Silver people.
However, Glenwy didn't approach carelessly, as she sensed that this little creature was also an Eighth Rank powerhouse!
In some aspects, Su Yu's pet companion was even on par with her!
Glenwy thought for a moment, then returned to the desk and activated the lie detector. "Newcomer, do you have any other pet companions or bonded partners besides this one? Any others?"
Before Su Yu could answer, she added, "You must take this question seriously. If you have any other pet companions and you don't report them, you'll have to bear the consequences!"
"No, this is the only one." Su Yu answered immediately.
Glenwy glanced at the lie detector, which showed no signs of alarm.
"Good. Wait here a moment, I'll be right back." With that, Glenwy turned and walked out of the room without looking back.
...
About four or five minutes later, Glenwy returned to the room, carrying two bracelets.
She first questioned Morning Star (the questions were similar to those she asked Su Yu, mainly to determine if they were spies sent by the enemy).
After the questioning, she handed the two bracelets to Su Yu and Morning Star. "These bracelets have the same functions as the Sanctus bracelets. We can't contact Sanctus right now, but you can use the bracelets to communicate with me.
"You must wear these bracelets at all times and under no circumstances remove them, understood?"
“Are you going to monitor my location in real time?” Su Yu frowned.
Glenwey admitted it calmly, “Yes, I come from the Fig Military. The military not only maintains order within the hub but must also track the movements of every outsider in real time.”
After a brief pause, Glenwey continued, “However, wearing the bracelet isn’t entirely a bad thing. First, you can use it to contact me, and I’ll provide any assistance I can. Second, if you encounter danger, you can call for help from the military, and we will immediately pinpoint your location and provide timely assistance.”
Morningstar’s whiskers twitched slightly, “Meow, what if we take it off or accidentally lose it?”
Glenwey’s expression grew serious, “Then you will be wanted by the Fig Military! Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
"Alright," Morningstar shrank back a bit, pulling his neck in.
It seemed that they couldn’t just wander around after entering the Fig Hub. For her, it wasn’t a big deal, but if Su Yu were to be wanted, it would be a huge problem.
Morningstar obediently put the bracelet on her front paw, and Su Yu followed suit without a word.
Although Morningstar’s front paw was thinner than a human wrist, the bracelet seemed to have an auto-adjusting function, snapping tightly around her paw in a perfect fit.
Seeing that both Su Yu and Morningstar had put on their bracelets, Glenwey let out a slight sigh of relief.
“Alright, there’s nothing else. You two can leave now and enter the Fig Hub.”
With that, the interrogation process was complete, and Glenwey officially cleared Su Yu and Morningstar to enter.
The purpose of this interrogation was to first determine if the outsiders were enemy spies and then to have them wear the bracelet to monitor their movements at all times.
These were uncertain times.
With these two layers of security, the military wouldn’t have to worry about the outsiders causing any trouble.
However, Su Yu had no intention of leaving just yet.
He looked at Glenwey and said seriously, “Ms. Glenwey, what about the war compensation for our home planet? Or where should I go to apply for it?”
Glenwey was taken aback, “War compensation? You mean the compensation for the ‘Ascension War’?”
“Exactly.”
“Well…” Glenwey stroked her chin and furrowed her brow.
She had no idea where to apply for compensation for the ‘Ascension War.’
In the past, the compensation was handled entirely by the Hymn, and the Fig Hub had never been involved in such matters.
But now that the Hymn had disappeared, the war victors like Su Yu couldn’t receive their compensation. Without the Hymn, and with no one in the Fig Hub responsible, what could be done?
“I’m sorry, I don’t know how to help you with the compensation. No one in the hub is responsible for that,” Glenwey apologized.
Seeing Su Yu frown again, before he could speak, Glenwey continued, “However, I do have another idea. With this method, you might be able to apply for compensation.”
“Oh? What method?” Su Yu’s interest was piqued.
If he could actually get the compensation, it would be a huge boon!
In reality, the compensation for winning the Ascension War had already been given to them—Darak and his minions’ corpses.
But if Su Yu could get another round of compensation from the Fig Hub, why not?
Double the compensation, double the joy!
Excitement welled up inside Su Yu as he looked at Glenwey, waiting for her to continue.
