Chapter 122: I Can't Handle This Alone
Chapter 122: I Can't Handle This Alone
As Hawkins' expression began to falter, Kuro's lips curled into a malicious grin.
"Push a little harder."
Kuro slightly unsheathed 【Huazhou】, revealing a glint of blade.
"That's definitely 'The Tower.'"
Before Hawkins could finish speaking, Kuro swiftly sheathed 【Huazhou】again.
"Nope. 'The Hanged Man.'"
Kuro unsheathed the blade again.
"The Tower."
Back in the scabbard.
"The Hanged Man."
Unsheathed.
"The Tower."
Back in.
"Upside-down."
Blade emerged.
"The Tower."
Sheathed.
"Invert this, you bastard!"
Hawkins spat out a wisp of blood, his already pallid face turning ghostly white. His body swayed like a reed in the wind.
The overwhelming chaos of too many divinations had nearly shattered his mind.
"Captain!"
The pirates shouted in unison.
Kuro bared his teeth, eyes gleaming with malice.
This guy was fun.
"My divination failed. Guess we'll have to run."
Wiping blood from his lips, Hawkins prepared to move.
"Mm, not happening."
A flash of light reflected off Lucius Kro's sunglasses. "Can't let pirates run off now. Speaking of which—speed is power. Ever been hit by light?"
Bang!
In an instant, Lucius Kro's foot materialized where Hawkins stood. The pirate captain flew backward, crashing through a building's wall in a hail of rubble and dust, disappearing into a cloud of debris that obscured everyone's vision.
Kuro bit his cigar, watching the ruins. The life aura hadn't faded at all.
Hmm. Classic smoke-screen rule—no injury here.
Lucius Kro extended a finger, firing a crimson laser beam.
Shooo—
Boom!!
Another explosion intensified the swirling dust.
"How strange."
Lucius Kro opened one eye from his habitual squint, feigning surprise.
From the smoke, a figure emerged.
"Even for an Admiral, two strikes forcing me to sustain critical injuries twice? Not bad."
Hawkins raised his arm. Two cracks split its surface, and two miniature straw dolls wriggled out from the fissures, dropping onto the ground.
"With ten dolls, fighting an Admiral would make me nervous."
Lucius Kro scratched his head. "Scary! Not a scratch. Today's youth really are impressive. Kuro, your turn."
"Huh?"
Kuro, enjoying the show, blinked in stunned disbelief at being addressed. He pointed at himself.
"Did you say the right name, Gramps? I've never fought pirates with bounties over 100 million. Such terrifying opponents—shouldn't you handle this?"
He'd never faced such high-profile pirates.
Well, except that old man with a ship's wheel for a head now keeping fish company underwater. And twenty years of absence counted as retirement, right? The guy was gone either way.
"Exactly why you need training, Kuro." Lucius Kro said.
Kuro shook his head like a rattled tambourine, then coughed, clutching his chest. "Might be altitude sickness from Mariejois. Breathing trouble—can't fight."
"Tsk tsk tsk." Lucius Kro sighed.
Suddenly, a shadow engulfed them.
With a thunderous crash, a towering figure descended from the skies, landing between Hawkins and his foes.
The newcomer's muscular frame sported twin wings on his back, and he carried a massive hexagonal iron pillar.
"That's 'The Demon Monk' Urki." One of Hawkins' pirates whispered from hiding.
"Not just him", the long-haired pirate muttered, lifting his head toward the sky.
Another colossal figure plummeted from the heavens.
"Bartolomeo Bear! The Seven Warlords of the Sea are here too?!" the long-haired pirate exclaimed.
Urki, bleeding from his temple and gasping for breath, groaned, "Failed... They're truly formidable... Seven Warlords of the Sea."
"There's someone stronger than him", Hawkins said, pointing at Lucius Kro.
Urki followed his finger and recoiled. "Lucius Kro?! Fronted by Admirals, flanked by Warlords... Is this truly my final hour?"
Hawkins stayed silent. He'd seen Urki's death wasn't imminent, but speaking another prophecy might make it happen—like the blood he'd already coughed up.
Definitely not a good day for divination!
"That's..."
Kuro eyed Bartolomeo. Never met this Warlord before, but the aura screamed machine.
"A Pacifista? Wonder which model." Kuro narrowed his eyes.
Better still, now he could avoid fighting himself—especially in front of Gramps. That old man might indulge him, but he'd also dig traps without hesitation. Promotion time came, and he'd shove you into the pit without blinking.
The Pacifista raised its fist toward Urki.
Suddenly, a blur struck with a flurry of blows, then kicked the Pacifista aside.
The figure held a four-bladed axe in his right hand and a longsword in his left, bearing X-shaped scars on chest and chin.
"Corrupted Vice Admiral X·Drake."
"Vice Admiral Drake", Lucius Kro arched a brow.
Drake spun, surprise flashing. "Huang? Lucius Kro?!"
Lucius Kro's face twisted into a peculiar expression.
"Hmm."
Kuro rubbed his chin, observing the two. "Gramps looks weird. Did I forget something?"
"Broooh brooooh brooooh—"
His Transponder Snail buzzed.
Kuro flipped open the shell. "Moshi moshi?"
A scarred face appeared on the Snail. "It's Sengoku."
Kuro glanced at Lucius Kro. "What's up?"
"Is Gramps with you?"
Lucius Kro didn't wait for a reply, waving. "Oooh, Sengoku!"
"Gramps! You're already on the island? Why didn't you contact me?!"
"Because I couldn't", Lucius Kro shrugged. "Transponder Snail wouldn't connect."
"You used your wrist Snail again! I told you—your wrist one's for eavesdropping! And Kuro—you're with Gramps and let him reach out first?!"
Kuro scratched his head. "Was watching the show. Forgot."
In the past, such insolence would earn Sengoku a "private garden sparring session." But now—
Devil Fruit user of 'Currency Fruit.' Untouchable.
"Anyway, let's start. The targets scattered. Luffy, Kidd, Law—who's your pick?"
Lucius Kro tapped his chin. "Luffy. Gotta go now—don't want him running. Kuro, I'll leave this to you."
With a flash of golden light, he vanished.
"Hey! Gramps! Gramps!"
Kuro yelled into the void, "I can't handle this alone! Don't leave me! At least take me with you!"
No response.
The Snail clicked off.
Hawkins smirked. "Just a Major? You can't handle us."
"Major?"
Drake studied Kuro. Never seen him. Just some Navy grunt?
Kuro scratched his head, eyeing the three pirates.
"Three over-100-million bountyheads... Scary stuff."
