Chapter 122: Chaos
Chapter 122: Chaos
The Wu Yi students were shocked to see Director Liu and the member of the Consultative Council being shot, and their first instinct was to locate the gunman or find a hiding spot.
As their attention focused outside, they never expected the Makara students to rush out, and although they had some suspicions, without a clear understanding of the situation, most chose to give way.
But as soon as the gunshots rang out, Chen Chuan immediately turned to search for the gunman. However, at that moment, a figure suddenly flashed by, and Qiu Chengzu, who was not far from him, charged towards Chen Chuan with ferocity.
Chen Chuan simply raised his hand to block, and before Qiu Chengzu could comprehend what was happening, he stumbled and fell back, hearing the words, "This is not the time for sparring."
The security team inside the venue also sprang into action, and their first reaction was not to intercept the Makarans but to protect the member and other government officials.
Without a clear order, the Makarans were still considered VIPs, and even with their suspicions, the team wouldn't take any unnecessary actions. This allowed the group to easily rush out.
However, due to the rapidity of events and the distance, the spectators at the back hadn't grasped the situation, and the crowd still blocked the way, inadvertently creating a barrier.
Just then, a series of gunshots rang out from behind, and several people fell to the ground, hit by bullets. The crowd finally reacted, screaming and shouting in panic. They scattered in all directions, and the spreading smoke added to the chaos.
Chen Chuan's eyes narrowed as he followed the sound of the gunshots. He saw a man wearing sunglasses firing the shots, and behind him stood several expressionless individuals. A short distance away, several two-wheeled motor vehicles were parked, heading in the direction where Duoma had run. It was clear that they were the ones responsible.
Chen Chuan brushed aside another charging Makaran student and quickly walked towards them.
Not far away, Zhuang Zhi witnessed Chen Chuan's pursuit. His eyes flashed, and with a powerful move, he effortlessly knocked down two Makaran students who were approaching. Zhuang Zhi followed Chen Chuan.
Chen Chuan started with a quick walk, but as he picked up the pace, his speed gradually increased. Within a breath or two, he had caught up with the fleeing Makarans. Someone tried to stop him, but Chen Chuan effortlessly brushed them aside, as if swatting away a few insects.
Nali and Shani had been following Duoma, clearing his path. Nali was more restrained, knowing to hold back, but Shani was ruthless, forcefully pushing aside anyone in his way, unconcerned about the strength of his opponents.
Seeing that the students couldn't stop Chen Chuan, Nali immediately turned back to block him.
Shani, with a more volatile temper, took the lead and charged forward. With a powerful kick aimed at Chen Chuan's face, he unleashed a hum from his nose.
Chen Chuan casually deflected the attack with a punch, causing Shani's leg to fracture and sending him flying backward due to the force, landing on the side of the road.
Nali, witnessing this, felt a chill down his spine, knowing he was no match for Chen Chuan. Ignoring his own safety, he charged forward, attempting to block Chen Chuan.
Chen Chuan remained calm, with no intention of engaging Nali. He sidestepped, and his speed suddenly surged as he brushed past Nali, like an arrow released from a bow, rushing forward.
Nali managed to stop his charge, but just then, two Wu Yi students dashed past him, causing him to panic and turn back to pursue.
Duoma, still running forward, kept an eye on the situation behind him. Seeing that Nali and Shani were ineffective against Chen Chuan, he furrowed his brows, puzzled. He knew that the Makaran students and the Wu Yi students had a gap in strength, but was it this significant? He didn't dare turn his back on such an opponent, so he halted and turned to face the threat.
However, the anticipated attack never came. Chen Chuan didn't even glance at Duoma, instead rushing past him towards the gunman who had fired the shots.
Duoma was taken aback. He had no intention of helping the gunmen, and as he prepared to leave, a figure flashed by, and Zhuang Zhi suddenly appeared, charging towards him. With a slight tap of his foot, Zhuang Zhi leaped forward, knee raised, and collided with Duoma.
Duoma shook his head and took a half-step forward, avoiding the direct impact. He then pressed his shoulder and arm against Zhuang Zhi's knee, making Zhuang Zhi feel like he had collided with an unyielding barrier.
Before Zhuang Zhi could react, Duoma's shoulder and arm muscles tensed, like a drawn bowstring releasing, and an unstoppable force knocked Zhuang Zhi back. He flew backward, landing on the ground and rolling several times before stabilizing.
Although Zhuang Zhi wasn't severely injured, he looked at Duoma with lingering fear, aware of the vast gap in their abilities. At that moment, he felt something amiss and rolled forward, narrowly avoiding a strike from behind. It was Nali, who had attacked him upon seeing Duoma's assault.
Zhuang Zhi quickly got to his feet, seeing that it was Nali who had attacked him. He let out a cold laugh, knowing that if Nali couldn't handle Duoma, he wouldn't stand a chance either.
Chen Chuan had already closed the distance to the gunman, who hastily raised his gun, but Chen Chuan's swift movements and lateral footwork made it impossible for him to get a clear shot. By the time the gunman realized his mistake, Chen Chuan was already upon him.
The gunman bit down, hastily pulling the trigger. Chen Chuan ducked forward, simultaneously reaching up to deflect the gun with a swift motion, causing the man's arms to break with a loud crack. As the man's hands flew upward, Chen Chuan seized the moment, shouldering the gunman and sending him flying backward into a middle-aged man approaching from behind.
The middle-aged man, with his steady gait and sharp eyes, deftly neutralized the gunman's force with a simple hand gesture, effortlessly setting him on the ground. He twisted his neck slightly, his cold expression unwavering, and strode towards Chen Chuan.
Chen Chuan, however, reached out and caught the falling pistol, instantly raising it. The middle-aged man's icy demeanor faltered, and he hastily ducked to the side.
Chen Chuan swiftly shifted his aim, firing several shots at the nearby building, causing bricks to shatter and fly. The sniper positioned there with a rifle ducked for cover.
Seizing the moment, the middle-aged man rushed forward, intending to kick Chen Chuan's head. But Chen Chuan paid him no mind, instead clenching his fist and striking out as he discarded the pistol.
The middle-aged man, sensing a potential stalemate, furrowed his brow, stomping his foot down with a loud thud. Twisting his waist, he exhaled with a 'hey' and countered Chen Chuan's punch with his own.
The impact reverberated like two steel hammers colliding. In an instant, both men's fists met, and the ground beneath them cracked with a series of 'ka-ka' sounds.
They held their punching stance for a moment, then the middle-aged man's face flushed red, and his bones emitted a series of snapping sounds as if they were all breaking simultaneously. He crumpled like soft mud, his entire body seemingly shattered by Chen Chuan's punch.
At that moment, Chen Chuan's gaze flickered, and he turned his head slightly to the side. Something seemed to graze his cheek, and a tree trunk nearby exploded with a 'bang', revealing a fresh bullet hole.
Chen Chuan nimbly dodged, his feet moving swiftly as bullets rained down around him, causing branches to sway and debris to scatter on the road.
On a rooftop nearby, the gunman fired a few more shots before sensing a gust of wind behind him. As he turned, a hand grabbed the top of his head, and with a deft twist, his neck snapped with a 'crack'.
Luo Kaiyuan pushed the dead man's head aside, discarding the body, and grabbed the rifle from his hands. He aimed it downward, but hesitated. Kneeling, he broke the rifle in two and tossed it aside. With a swift motion, he leaped from the rooftop, using his skills to control his descent. He landed, rolled to absorb the impact, and then sprang forward.
Meanwhile, Chen Chuan, while evading, picked up the discarded pistol and fired several shots at the people near the tricycles. They scattered in all directions.
Duoma had been running towards the tricycles, but seeing them disperse, he halted. Unable to drive them, he stood still, only to be confronted by a figure rushing towards him. A crisp, youthful female voice accompanied the punch aimed at Duoma.
Recognizing the voice as belonging to a female student, Duoma shook his head, dodged the punch, and grabbed her slender wrist, slamming her to the ground with a 'bang'.
Duoma assumed this would incapacitate the female student, but she seemed unaffected, springing back into action almost immediately. Duoma, caught off guard, flung her away.
The female student, Guan Xinyin, tumbled on the ground before pushing herself up, seemingly unharmed except for a few tears in her clothes and a layer of dust.
Chen Chuan, recognizing Guan Xinyin, knew that neither she nor Zhuang Zhi had fought with full force against Duoma, likely due to the delicate relations between their countries.
Chen Chuan contemplated, "Duoma, you can't escape."
Duoma shook his head. He tossed the box containing the oak leaves to a nearby student, signaling for them to leave. Then, he tore off his shirt, revealing a robust, bronze-skinned physique adorned with graceful muscles. "I recall you took my Meridian Studies class," he said, his voice resonating with authority. "So, I'll teach you the next lesson right here."
