Chapter 1219: Golden Lion Admiral, So Scary
Chapter 1219: Golden Lion Admiral, So Scary
Dominica Kingdom, Kemorike Island.
This was the island Kuro had previously destroyed using Pacifista, and it was also the island abandoned by the Dominica Kingdom.
At some point, a group of orphans had appeared on this island—children from the Four Seas and the Grand Line’s First Half, all victims of war, pirates, or other kingdoms’ policies that had left them homeless.
Where there were people, others naturally gathered.
Though abandoned, the island remained large with many surviving buildings, attracting numerous settlers who formed a new town around the orphans, gradually bringing life and vitality.
The town sat beside a natural port on Kemorike’s coastline. On its streets, a group of children ran and played, their laughter ringing out joyfully.
Nearby, officers who had opened shops or settled here couldn’t help but smile warmly at the sight.
Many of them had lost their means of survival in their original homes, so they came here seeking refuge. For them, hearing the children’s laughter was a rare comfort.
Unfortunately, these orphans couldn’t be adopted. Though the settlers regarded them as their own children, Lucius Kro refused to allow it.
In the town’s central area stood a massive estate, home to many children. A group of them now gathered in a circle.
Inside the circle, an elderly man in simple clothes and sunglasses squatted, tinkering with a large telescope.
A child watched him eagerly, “Grandfather Lucius Kro, is it not fixed yet?”
“Mm, just a bit longer.”
Lucius Kro fiddled with the telescope, pouting slightly, “This telescope is so big, it’s hard to repair. Such a massive telescope, really scary.”
“Hurry up, Grandfather Lucius Kro! We want to see the stars before nightfall. You know, the stars in the sky are so beautiful.” A young girl said hopefully.
“Eh? Can you really see stars?”
A chubby boy asked in surprise, “It’s your fault it broke! I haven’t seen stars in ages because you messed it up!” The girl huffed angrily.
“No, it’s not!”
The chubby boy scratched his head apologetically, “I got scared because I didn’t see stars—just a huge black thing moving, and it terrified me!”
“Hmph!” The girl crossed her arms and turned away.
Just then, Lucius Kro adjusted a part and suddenly said, “Oh~ seems fixed now.”
The young girl’s eyes lit up, “Really?!”
Lucius Kro stood, his eyes crinkling behind his chestnut sunglasses as he ruffled her hair, “A few parts were broken, but now it’s fixed. Take a look.”
The girl pressed her face to the telescope. The chubby boy instinctively steadied it, adjusting the angle.
“Wow, it really works! I can see the sky!” She beamed, “A little more to the left, lower down—I want to see more!”
As the boy held the telescope steady, slowly tilting it downward, the girl’s laughter filled the air, “The Grand Line is so clear! The Grand Line—”
Suddenly, she stopped, pulling her head back, her face paling.
“Monster! There’s a monster!”
“Hmm?” Lucius Kro’s eyes widened slightly.
“There’s a monster, Grandfather Lucius Kro!”
The girl jumped up, screaming in terror, “A huge monster is approaching!”
“A monster?”
Lucius Kro stepped forward, steadied the telescope, and peered through it. His expression briefly froze before he smiled gently, “No, you must’ve seen wrong. The telescope probably isn’t fully fixed yet. Let this old man adjust it a bit more.”
“But I really saw it!” The girl was on the verge of tears.
“How strange. Let’s check.”
Lucius Kro removed a small part from the telescope, lowering his hand to make the children crowd around. In his palm lay a screw.
As they leaned down, his other hand shot out—a laser erupted from his fingertip, piercing forward toward the Grand Line.
Then, he lowered his hand, picked up the screw, and “accidentally” tapped it against the telescope.
“There, try it now.” Lucius Kro smiled.
The girl hesitated but looked again, then cheered, “It’s fixed! No more monsters! But Grandfather Lucius Kro, why is the Grand Line a little red?”
“That’s probably just from the recent repairs. It’ll clear up soon.”
Lucius Kro pouted, “Such a troublesome telescope. So scary.”
“Grandfather Lucius Kro…”
The girl looked up, puzzled, “I saw a person flying in the sky. Did the telescope break again?”
“Yes, that’s it.” Lucius Kro smiled.
She looked again, then gasped, “But Grandfather Lucius Kro, the person is getting closer! They’re already—”
Whoosh!
As her words faded, a shockwave erupted overhead. A man in a white hooded cloak and golden dress uniform hovered above them, slowly descending.
“There he is, the flying person!” The girl pointed and screamed, “He’s here! I didn’t imagine it!”
“Wow, he’s flying!” The other children gasped in awe.
“Oh~ so it wasn’t a mistake. A real person.” Lucius Kro scratched his head, chuckling, “This is troublesome.”
Kuro smirked, “What ‘real person’? Gramps, I came to visit.”
He’d flown for a while before nearing the island when he spotted a Sea King approaching. He’d intended to deal with it, but before he could act, a laser had pierced the Sea King, sending it sinking into the ocean with only a bloodstain remaining.
That laser, of course, came from Gramps.
Kuro was well aware of Gramps’ habits. Since retiring, he’d been living here as Lucius Kro.
Kindergarten principal!
Spending his days educating children with great enthusiasm.
As Kuro landed, Lucius Kro pouted, “So scary. Golden Lion Admiral.”
Kuro’s temple twitched with a blue vein, “Are you looking for trouble, Gramps?!”
You know perfectly well how I got this Admiral title!
What’s with that tone?!
“Old man read the newspaper. You caused quite a stir in Wano Country. So scary, Kuro. What do you want from old man?” Lucius Kro said, “But first, old man isn’t going to Wano Country.”
“I didn’t ask you to!”
Kuro rolled his eyes, “And don’t act like I can’t visit without an agenda. But this time, I actually do need something, Gramps. Use your connections to ask Vegapunk for a favor.”
