Chapter 1210: Served Hot – Decapitating Kaido
Chapter 1210: Served Hot – Decapitating Kaido
The people Kuro wanted were all present, and nearly every citizen of Wano Country had gathered. The execution could finally begin.
Outside the Castle Tower’s grand execution platform, countless pirates and captured Wano samurai were chained together in a ring around the arena. Among them were the Six Crimson Stars, along with Kemuri and Quinn.
Quinn twisted his head toward the Red Scabbards samurai, who looked particularly disgruntled in captivity. Smirking, he taunted, “Well, well, look who’s here. What’s the point of fighting us? The final victory isn’t yours anyway.”
Momonosuke, his body still crackling with residual frost, shouted back, “None of your business!”
They had refused Kuzan’s request to “accompany him,” but there was no choice. To discuss matters, one must first have the strength to engage in dialogue. Those lacking that strength had no qualifications to “discuss” anything—they could only comply.
They’d been frozen and dragged here by Kuzan, though their vitality had spared them worse than frostbite.
“Silence!”
A Navy officer jabbed his spear at Quinn. “Not another word!”
Quinn scoffed, tilting his head. “Tch, brat. That toy won’t kill anyone.”
"Stop talking, Quinn. We lost", said Jin, kneeling nearby with quiet resignation, his voice tinged with helplessness.
“Hmph. You’re always like this!”
Quinn curled his lip, ignoring the soldier. “It’s not your spear that’s strong—it’s your superior.”
He glanced around, snorting again. “So, have all the Golden Lion’s lapdogs arrived? Looks like there’s no hope left.”
The Navy encircled the arena like a white wall, separating the prisoners from Wano’s citizens.
Thousands of captives shouldn’t have been brought out all at once—risking chaos—but today, manpower was abundant. So much so that even Quinn felt uneasy.
Within the circular Navy formation stood several notable figures. Crocodile, wrapped in a fur coat and biting a cigar, stared ahead with rugged arrogance. Mr.1 stood beside him.
Boa Hancock lounged on a giant serpent’s back, her long legs entwined as she sat on a luxurious throne atop the beast. Her gaze swept down at the crowd with icy pride.
Joe Rudolph and William, flanked by officers, kept the civilians and pirates apart. Dracule Mihawk stood silently to one side, while Buggy craned his neck, peering around restlessly.
“Tch, nothing but officers here.”
Buggy rubbed his chin. “Whether standing or kneeling, they’re all officers. Hmm.”
Suddenly, he burst into maniacal laughter. “So the one invited here to witness this spectacle—me, the great Buggy—must be an officer too! Ahahaha!”
“An idiot?” William frowned at Buggy’s sudden cackle.
Truth be told, this Red-Nosed Buggy had gained notoriety in the East Blue, though William hadn’t known back then that he’d once sailed under Roger.
Could any of Roger’s crew be such an eccentric? And one who seemed so weak?
Yet William dared not underestimate him. The Grand Line had long blurred the lines between strength and weakness. Many times, he’d misjudged both.
This world was an illusion, except for one man—
Kuro!
Only his strength was real. Everything else was unreliable. William needed only to fixate on Kuro’s power and surpass it. As for the rest? Who cared.
Perhaps this Red Nose was a master of disguise, hiding immense strength.
“Hm?”
Buggy suddenly tensed, scanning the crowd warily.
“Captain, what’s wrong?” asked the rotund Mucki.
“I… don’t know,” Buggy muttered, his gaze returning with a strange expression. “I feel like someone just called me ‘Red Nose’ again.”
His eyes sharpened. From the Castle Tower, a massive figure was being dragged out. Clad in a purple open-fronted robe and a hooded fur cloak, the creature had horns atop its head, a ferocious face, and radiated Haki with every step despite its chains.
The Four Emperors’ strongest across sea, land, and air—Kaido!
Even separated by rows of prisoners, his towering form dominated the scene.
Kaido strode toward the platform, sat at its center, and surveyed the crowd with a malevolent grin. “So many people! What a feast! Just as the Old Man would’ve wished. Now, Kuro—it’s your turn!”
Inside the Castle Tower, on the fifth level near a window, Kuzan glanced at Kuro, who sat beside him sipping wine. “Hey, they’re calling you.”
“Me, an Admiral, reduced to an executioner? This job’s usually left to professionals, you know.”
Kuro set down his bottle, pulled the Yokai Blade from the floor, and floated into the air.
For days, the blade had remained unsheathed, never returned to the heavens.
“But a promise is a promise. Kuzan, warm my wine. I’ll be back in a moment.”
He soared out the window, leaving those words behind.
“Huh?” Kuzan scratched his head, eyeing the abandoned bottle. “My ability’s freezing. Chilling’s fine, but heating wine? Not sure I can do that…”
Above the execution platform, Kuro hovered high, drawing every gaze.
The figure in a golden admiral’s uniform, his hooded cloak billowing, seemed to glow with sunlight as he descended.
“Now then!” Kaido roared, addressing the crowd. “Let me introduce the man who will execute the Old Man—the Navy’s Admiral and our pirate nemesis, Golden Lion!” Citizens of Wano, don’t fool yourselves! The world’s chaos hasn’t changed. Think Oden’s return is possible? No! Remember this: The Grand Line is cruel, and so is this world! With your perfect geographical advantage, once you open the seas, you’ll learn the truth!”
“Rise! Plunder! Serve your new masters in this new era of violence!”
Kuro gripped his blade, raising it high. Golden lightning crackled along the edge as his eyes turned icy.
“Is that all? If so, let me send you off.”
Kaido ignored him, turning to his Beasts Pirates. “My subordinates! Spread your chaos! This world will change!”
“Kaido, sir!!”
Jin lifted his head, lips trembling. Even in defeat, he couldn’t believe Kaido had fallen so far.
Back when they’d first escaped the experiment chambers, had their dream of changing the world already failed?
“Failed? No! I know you’ll do it, Kuro! I can feel it!”
Kaido’s gruesome gaze locked onto Kuro.
In response, Kuro roared, “Ultimate Mystic Art!”
A golden wisp of blade light shot straight down like a falling star.
