Chapter 1202: Is There a Possibility We're Running a Business?
Chapter 1202: Is There a Possibility We’re Running a Business?
Little Garden’s King’s Capital.
The recent rains had washed the bloodstains from the streets, scrubbing away the tension that once gripped King’s Capital.
Could they afford not to feel anxious?
The noble lords they once revered as heavens had been ruthlessly slaughtered by the Navy practically overnight. The blood spilled then made the city’s citizens tremble in horror.
In the immediate aftermath, every household barricaded their doors, too fearful to even step outside. A few days later, the atmosphere eased slightly—people finally dared open their doors to move about again.
That’s when they noticed subtle, perhaps even “imperceptible” changes.
Dressrosa had taken over, but instead of the expected tyranny, their first actions were repairing buildings damaged by pirate destruction and rescuing affected civilians.
They distributed food, offered aid, and knocked door-to-door to explain Dressrosa’s governance philosophy—no more nobility looming over them, no more pirates plundering their lives.
Still, changing minds would take time.
The nation’s nobility had always treated them generously, even more so than Dressrosa’s current approach. After all, Riku Riku Kingdom’s “generosity” was a no-cost performance—they’d simply reclaim everything later. Convincing the people otherwise wouldn’t be easy.
Atop King’s Capital’s grand castle, Kas stood on the balcony overlooking the city, his brow furrowed.
How should he solve this? How could he shift their mindset to see the nobility’s true corruption?
“Kas.”
Wilbur approached from behind, holding a Transponder Snail. “Klah wants us.”
“Hmm?”
Kas tightened his hooded cloak, turned, and faced the active Transponder Snail’s glowing screen. He greeted the tunneling voice: “Vice Admiral Klah, is there a request from Kuro Mr.?”
Kuro Mr. had departed for Wano Country, a journey they’d envied. Missing the chance to confront the Four Emperors alongside him was a bitter regret.
After all, they knew about Red-Haired Shanks’ capture.
Now, Kuro Mr. was reaching out—did he have a new mission?
“Kas, Wilbur—first, an update. Kuro Mr. arrived in Wano Country, killed Big Mom, captured Kaido, and will execute him publicly. The Four Emperors Era has ended.”
The voice from the Transponder Snail sent Kas and Wilbur’s pupils contracting in shock.
…
Grand Line, an island split evenly between desert wastelands and lush mountains—the castle at its center housed the current Seven Warlords of the Sea, “Desert King” Crocodile.
Inside, Crocodile shrugged off his coat, handed it to a hippo in a suit, and sat at his desk. Clutching a cigar, he exhaled smoke before addressing the bald man beside him:
“The New World’s growing more chaotic, wouldn’t you say, Mr.1?”
He’d just returned from eliminating pirates in the New World, but this operation revealed the Grand Line’s escalating frenzy. Pirates were no longer confined to their territories—they’d begun annexing others.
“It reminds me of the old days, before the Four Emperors solidified their rule. Pirates back then were just as wild.”
Crocodile mused, “Maybe it’s linked to Luffy entering Wano Country. Since they arrived, the Grand Line’s been anything but calm.”
Mr.1 silently nodded. He wasn’t one for words—he killed, and that was it.
“Boroboroboro.”
The Transponder Snail on the desk rang. Crocodile frowned, lifting the receiver. “Crocodile here.”
Then—
“Huh?!”
He shot upright, his sinister face darkening as he roared into the receiver: “What are you talking about? Are you joking?!”
Mr.1’s pupils shrank, his expression frozen in disbelief.
…
Grand Line, Carnival Town—the base of Seven Warlords of the Sea “Thousand-Lion Coin Doker” Buggy.
Since Buggy’s arrival, the town’s carnival had added one major attraction: a circus performance as the grand finale, raking in tourists’ coins.
“Hehehehehe!”
At a vast circus arena, Buggy stretched his oversized coat to several meters, shouting to the packed crowd: "Hand over your money, sweets!"
“Ohhh!” The audience erupted in excitement.
Outside, Buggy Pirates crew members grinned as they collected ticket fees.
Backstage, Buggy retracted his coat, gliding into the backroom where officers counted cash. He sneered: “Fools—they hand over their coins just for a peek at my face.”
Former Vice-Captain Mucki, now a slovenly, obese man, praised: “Truly worthy of Captain Buggy!”
He kept counting.
“Captain Buggy’s methods are brilliant,” Cabaji chuckled. “They’re tricked into paying willingly instead of resisting.”
Buggy removed his coat, reassembling his dislocated limbs, and boasted with his red nose: “Ahhahahaha! This is how Buggy Pirates plunder!”
Alvida and Mr.3 exchanged glances. Mr.3 adjusted his glasses, drily remarking: “Is there a possibility… we’re calling this a ‘business’?”
Buggy: “…?”
“What do you mean, business?! I’m a pirate! A legendary Seven Warlords of the Sea! The Buggy Pirates are conquering the New World under my command!”
“Boroboroboro.”
The Transponder Snail rang. Buggy’s hand zipped out to grab the receiver, his eyes curving into flattered waves: “Buggy Delivery Company and Buggy Circus, how may we serve you?”
Then—
“Nani?!!!”
His scream echoed through the circus, freezing every counting officer.
Buggy’s eyes bulged, his red nose dripping snot as he stammered: “R-Really?! Is this true?! Don’t lie to me now…!”
…
“Boroboroboro.”
Simultaneously, Transponder Snails rang across Amazon Lily, William Base, Half-Fishman Port, and Gloomy Castle.
Within Gloomy Castle, a man slowly set down his receiver. His finger nudged his feathered hat, his hawk-like eyes narrowing at the horizon:
“What a bold move, Kuro.”
