Chapter 120: This Thing Has Barely Any Profit
Chapter 120: This Thing Has Barely Any Profit
"So, what exactly happened while I was away this month?" Douglas looked around in surprise, noticing many things he had previously overlooked.
For example, the pink, fluffy, moving, and bouncing small sphere by Ivan’s side, the prominently displayed Spell-Proof Gloves, and the Cloak, as well as a large number of Magic Items he had never seen before, all of which seemed brand new.
"I couldn’t help it. Dark Magic Items aren’t selling well, so my mother and I had to start researching more profitable items", Ivan said with a casual tone.
But Douglas found it hard to believe. He had known Aisia for many years and was well aware of how difficult it was to develop new Magic Items. He had only been away for a month, not a year, and they had suddenly switched to legitimate business?
That was a bit too fast, wasn’t it?
After personally testing a few Magic Items, Douglas had no choice but to believe it, especially Ivan’s latest creation, the Protective Ring.
By inputting Magic Power, it could form a 360-degree Magic Barrier similar to the Shield Charm, defending against some magical attacks.
Douglas was quite envious. If used well, this could be a life-saving artifact!
So, Douglas asked with a sheepish smile, "How much does this thing cost?"
"Sixty Galleons!" Ivan replied.
"Tsk, that’s really expensive. Can’t you give me a discount?" Douglas said, smacking his lips. If it had been a month ago, he would have bought it without hesitation.
But now, it was different. To establish connections with the Ministry of Magic, he had spent hundreds of Galleons, only to learn the exact schedule of the Ministry’s inspections. He was so poor he was almost eating dirt.
"I can’t help it. This level of Magic Item requires a lot of Galleons just for the materials. Selling one doesn’t leave much profit", Ivan explained. The Protective Ring was an enhanced version of the Spell-Proof Gloves, and it was the highest-quality item he had created!
Moreover, Ivan had discovered that the more powerful the Magic Item, the more expensive the magic materials needed. Otherwise, the Magic Power fluctuations caused by activating the Runic Script sequence would instantly ruin the cheaper materials!
Douglas had no choice but to put down the Protective Ring in disappointment. He knew Ivan was telling the truth, as he had some knowledge of Magic Items.
Aisia rolled her eyes. The material cost of a single Protective Ring was only nine Galleons, but a certain someone always considered his labor to be worth fifty Galleons, so he only made a profit of one galleon.
"What’s this?" Aisia didn’t expose Ivan’s exaggeration but was drawn to the pink, fluffy sphere on his shoulder.
"Puffpuff, a Alchemical Creature. It’s a gift from two friends, and we plan to sell it in the store", Ivan answered, playfully teasing the pink, fluffy ball.
"Alchemical Creature? What special abilities do they have?" Aisia’s eyes lit up as she asked.
Douglas also looked over curiously. He had only read about Alchemical Creatures in books, and it was said that Alchemist Nicolas Flamel had many of them at home.
"Um, being cute counts, right?" Ivan tilted his head and said.
"That’s just a waste. Who would buy such a thing?" Douglas sneered, but then he saw Aisia snatch the Puffpuff from Ivan’s shoulder.
"I find it quite interesting. We can study it", Aisia tried poking the Puffpuff, which then transformed into a pink, spinning ball.
Ivan sat helplessly as his new toy was taken away, feeling utterly frustrated.
Sigh, women.
Douglas was speechless. He couldn't understand what was so interesting about a fluffy ball, but he quickly adjusted and asked Ivan to introduce him to the other Magical Items.
After looking at a few Magical Items, Douglas couldn't help but exclaim.
"I think those Ministry of Magic inspectors would be stunned if they saw these things."
"Maybe, but I still feel like something is missing", Ivan looked around, still unsatisfied. There were too few items.
The things the Weasley Twins had sent were interesting, but they only appealed to a specific group of people.
He was planning to make a lot of money.
Thinking about the remaining Academic Points, plus the rewards from skill upgrades, Ivan had around three hundred points. He then had an idea and asked,
"What if I make some Potions and sell them here?"
"You want to sell Potions? I should have told you before, that requires a high level of Potion-making skill", Douglas frowned.
"Don't worry, the Potions I brew are very stable and won't be any worse than those sold in regular stores", Ivan said confidently.
"You're oversimplifying it. Potions aren't something you can just sell casually. Only certified Wizards can sell Potions", Douglas rebuked Ivan's idea. In the past, it might have been easier, but this time they were dealing with Ministry of Magic inspectors, and they couldn't afford any mistakes.
"Do you have that certification?" Ivan suddenly asked.
"Of course!" Douglas said proudly.
He had obtained the certification when he was working at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries right after graduating. Even after being fired, he still had the certification.
"Then what are we afraid of? If someone asks, we can just say you're selling them on my behalf!" Ivan said nonchalantly.
But what if something goes wrong?
Douglas opened his mouth to protest, instinctively looking at Aisia, hoping she would help dissuade Ivan from this unrealistic idea.
Unfortunately, although Aisia was also skeptical, considering Ivan's previous performance, she decided to support his decision without hesitation.
Douglas felt like crying. Knowing that this trouble was entirely his fault, he could only reluctantly agree.
However, Douglas insisted on personally checking Ivan's Potion-making skills to ensure they met the required standards.
So, in the afternoon, Ivan took Douglas to Diagon Alley to buy Potion ingredients and a cauldron.
As for the cauldron he had bought for school, he had left it there and didn't bring it back. Besides, one wasn't enough.
Compared to the impoverished and dangerous Knockturn Alley, Diagon Alley felt like a place where normal people should be. The streets were lined with shops, and the crowds bustled with laughter and haggling. Occasionally, you could see young Wizards playing and chasing each other.
