Chapter 12: Character Design is a Wonderful Thing
Chapter 12: Character Design is a Wonderful Thing
Early in the morning, Gang Zitie sprang out of bed, swiftly completed his morning routine, and devoured breakfast before rushing off to school.
"You're up early today. Why the hurry?" His mother asked, puzzled, from the kitchen.
Without turning, Gang Zitie replied, "Of course, I want to get to school early and study."
This was merely an excuse to appease his mother. While Gang Zitie didn't detest school, he didn't particularly enjoy it either, as not all teachers were as engaging as Mu Yue.
The real reason for his haste was his eagerness to find out if his best friend, Shen Yue Chun, had taken the first step in love as he had advised.
He had given Shen Yue Chun the idea on Thursday, but on Friday, Shen Yue Chun said he hadn't dared to act on it yet and needed more time to prepare himself.
Gang Zitie figured the weekend should have been enough time for him to muster his courage.
When Gang Zitie arrived at the classroom, it was still sparsely populated, and Shen Yue Chun was nowhere to be seen.
However, Shen Yue Chun didn't keep him waiting long. After about seven or eight minutes, he walked into the room, looking rather listless.
"Didn't you sleep well last night, Chun?" Gang Zitie asked with concern.
Shen Yue Chun shook his head.
"So, did you give her the flowers over the weekend?" Gang Zitie inquired excitedly.
"Ah, let's not talk about it," Shen Yue Chun replied, his expression turning even more glum at the mention of the flowers. "She said she was only looking at our flower garden because she's allergic to pollen and was worried it would blow over to her."
Gang Zitie fell silent for a moment upon hearing this news, then asked, "So, did you give her the flowers anyway?"
Shen Yue Chun didn't answer, but his silence and the mournful look on his face spoke volumes.
Gang Zitie patted him on the shoulder in consolation. "Don't worry, I remember a cute girl who plays with Meihui. Why don't we hang out with her sometime and introduce you two?"
"That's a great idea, Brother Tie!" Shen Yue Chun's gloomy mood instantly vanished, and he beamed with excitement. "I also thought of another brilliant plan to deal with your cousin over the weekend."
"That's fantastic! Tell me this brilliant plan right now!" Gang Zitie urged.
Just then, Mu Yue's voice rang out, "Class, let's begin!"
The two boys realized they had been so engrossed in their conversation that they hadn't noticed the bell signaling the start of class. They quickly straightened up in their seats and prepared to listen to the lesson, having missed Mu Yue's classes for the past two days.
As always, Mu Yue did not disappoint. The class proceeded in a relaxed and enjoyable manner, and before they knew it, their minds were enriched with new knowledge.

[Reward: Water Release: Water Cutter]
Upon seeing the reward, Mu Yue's eyes lit up. This was no ordinary jutsu.
It was a Water Release jutsu developed by the Second Hokage, capable of shooting out a super-high-pressure column of water with incredible destructive force, even capable of severing the roots of a divine tree.
Mu Yue was thrilled with the reward, and to her delight, another pleasant surprise soon followed.
"Teacher Mu Yue, I remember you don't have classes in the afternoon, right? Could you please cover my class for me? I have a ninjutsu class with the second year, section two students," said Toi Valley, approaching Mu Yue and requesting her help with another substitute teaching session.
"Substitute teaching is fine, but are you feeling unwell, Teacher Toi?" Mu Yue asked with concern, maintaining her caring persona even though she was delighted at the prospect of earning more rewards.
"I'm fine, thank you for your concern, Teacher Mu Yue," Toi Valley replied gratefully. "It's just that my previous blind date partner asked to meet up this afternoon."
"Then why didn't you choose a time when you have fewer classes?" Ueda Aya interjected, clearly exasperated with Toi Valley's choices.
"I would have if I could, but she said she's only free this afternoon," Toi Valley explained, feeling a bit guilty about troubling Mu Yue again. If he had a choice, he wouldn't want to inconvenience her, as she had been incredibly kind and helpful.
Ueda Aya shook her head, feeling that Toi Valley and this blind date partner were not meant to be. If the other party truly cared, they would consider Toi Valley's situation and not add to his workload.
"Well, good luck, Teacher Toi," Mu Yue smiled, eager for him to hurry up and finish the request so she could earn more rewards.
"Thank you so much, Teacher Mu Yue! If this works out, I'll treat you to a meal at the most expensive restaurant in Konoha," Toi Valley expressed his gratitude before rushing out of the office to get ready for his date.
"You're just too kind. Being this nice will only make you vulnerable," Ueda Aya remarked.
Mu Yue smiled but remained silent, turning to practice calligraphy.
Watching Mu Yue's focused expression as he wrote, Ueda Aya couldn't help but feel the vast difference between individuals. If only Gang Zitie had a quarter of Mu Yue's excellence; perhaps then, he wouldn't still be single.
When the time was right, Mu Yue put away his writing tools and made his way to Class 4-2 to teach.
As he reached the classroom door, the bell rang.
"Teacher Gang has something to attend to, so I'll be taking over today's ninjutsu class," Mu Yue explained as he entered.
He scanned the room and noticed that everyone was present except for Deidara.
About three minutes into the lesson, Deidara rushed into the classroom, his eyes widening in surprise at the sight of Mu Yue at the front of the class.
'Am I hallucinating?' Deidara thought, his mind struggling to process seeing Teacher Mu Yue in his class.
For a moment, he even wondered if he had entered the wrong room, but the familiar faces of his classmates assured him that he was in the right place.
Without a moment's rest, Deidara quickly offered an explanation: "Teacher Mu Yue, I didn't mean to be late. I ran into someone on the way..."
"You helped an elderly lady and lost track of time," a classmate finished for him, eliciting laughter from the class.
"I'm telling the truth! If I'd known it was you, Teacher Mu Yue, I would've come half an hour early," Deidara insisted.
He was afraid that Mu Yue would think he wasn't taking his studies seriously and refuse to teach him anymore.
"Take your seat," Mu Yue nodded, acknowledging Deidara's explanation, before adding, "and remember, being late for Teacher Gang's class is also unacceptable."
Ninjutsu classes at the Ninja Academy began in the first grade, but students were only taught three basic techniques: Transformation Technique, Clone Technique, and Body Replacement Technique.
While it might seem like a waste of time to learn only a handful of foundational jutsu over several years, it was actually quite reasonable, as geniuses like Itachi were rare.
For most ninjas who would peak at the rank of Chunin, mastering these three techniques was already a challenge, especially with the other subjects they had to study.
Despite having covered the Three Clone Jutsu countless times before, Mu Yue's lesson on them was still illuminating.
"So that's how it is! No wonder my clones and I didn't quite match up before," one student exclaimed, already showing improvement.
"I wish Teacher Gang had more things to do, so we could have more lessons with Teacher Mu Yue," another student joked, voicing the thoughts of many in the class.
The rest of the class murmured in agreement.
Mu Yue didn't comment on their remarks but inwardly marveled at how useful the system's skills were.

[Reward: Lightning Release: Lightning Clone]
Mu Yue's mind was instantly filled with knowledge about manipulating lightning-natured chakra and the intricacies of the Lightning Clone technique.
While it wasn't an exceptionally powerful jutsu, Mu Yue was pleased to have unlocked another chakra nature, especially since he had already 'leveled up' once that morning.
For the next two weeks, Mu Yue maintained this routine. When no one requested his help, he studied ninjutsu theory in the office. When asked to substitute, he readily accepted, and in his free time, he practiced chakra control and taught Shisui, Deidara, and the others.
Perhaps due to the exceptional quality of his lessons, the students he taught kept asking for more, and with his friendly demeanor, Mu Yue soon became a well-known teacher at the Ninja Academy.
The students saw him as the ideal teacher—interesting, kind, and handsome.
His colleagues also viewed him as a sincere and amiable coworker.
Mu Yue, however, didn't pay much attention to the buzz surrounding him. He was simply playing the role he wanted, and at that moment, he was more curious about the masked ninja standing in his courtyard.
Sorry for the delay, everyone. I encountered some issues, but I'm back now!
